  • I have a little giant, i use the OCD and digitech reverb. Sounds great

  • I have a Little Giant, and I will put all doubts to rest right now. This little powerhouse is the BEST, and I mean THE BEST amp I have ever had! I bought it used at Guitar Center, and the only upgrade I did was to put in a JJ Tubes EL84, and a JJ "gold pin" 12AX7. I know this will sound weird, but it is hooked up, of all things, to a Roccaforte 2X12 cabinet, and it sounds wonderful! All effects sound great, no problems. I use a Boss MegaDistortion and a DigiTech Hardwire reverb.

  • I have this amp, very impressive amp.

  • .........this band won`t go far......

  • Has anyone tried master slaving two of these amps together???

I'd love to hear that with a solid dummy load on the backside with a line out into the next amp. You'd have TWO volume controls and perhaps a very awesome amp sound.

    =O

    Rock on

  • When i replace the tubes, will i have to bias them? Or does it have auto-biasing crcuitry?

  • Nope its cathode biased so you should just be able to put them in and play.

  • Tried it today in the morning and in the evening I bought it. Right now I can´t stop playin. Unfortunately I can´t crank it to get the overdrive in my flat but in our weekend house no prob... Amazing clean, coming into small drive finally to significant overdrive, exactly what I expected, fine. But my EHX Metal Muff sounds ten times better than on my solid state Fender. And one more thing, don´t buy the combo, you need a better speaker. I got the blackstar with 60 percent discount. Amazing!!

  • Definately has The Cult sound to it : )

    Chris

  • If its a tube amp wheres the standby switch? I just learned how to use mine, lol

    standby helps a lot

  • Oh I see it now, thanks dude

  • thats the 3/5 watts pentode switch, it doesnt have a standby

  • yeah the smaller ones dont have them

  • Also..my friend has a Vox AC-30 from the 70's that doesn't have a standby switch.

They are handy but you find that a fair few things with tube technology don't have standby.

IMO they all should but eh what are you going to do?

  • im sure if a fair bit of technical know how you could make a standby switch on any tube amp

  • Agreed (y)

  • my bad thats where mine is so i just assumed and i forgot about that switch

  • great job recording this song, if it was on cd i would buy. put cd on ebay and let everyone bid on it, you might score some x-tra cash.

  • Might score a lawsuit, since this song is made by Australian group Airbourne. Great band with songs like Bon Scott era AC/DC with a modern sound.

  • Don't want to get a thumbsdown on this comment but I read on myspace (I got burned for uploading a "copyrighted" song on a dummy musicspace and had to be "educated" and found out uploading Covers is against copyright.

I mean..venues have to pay royalties when you play covers so I guess it works but eh..I don't know.

Thought I'd pipe in. I've got one of these coming in soon though, can't wait. I would about the biasing question also!

  • Again, love your video! I got my Blackheart head head last night....AWESOME.Build quality is top notch, the TONE!! So happy with this amazing amp.Now I'll be putting up my own tone video of this super rocking amp. Thanks, your tune rocks!

  • Great video, bro. Now I'm gonna buy this amp. Thanks for a super video demo on a great little amp.Good stuff !

  • I have this, sounds great, real loud, one problem though. I played today with a drummer, and it wasn't loud enough :( Please help me and find a solution that doesn't involve a new Amp head! And "No" Drummer can not turn down the volume of his drums.

  • Have you considered a new cab? Or maybe changing to tubes might help, not sure about that though, not much experience with tube amps.

  • I'd go with replacing the stock tubes with JJ tubes. Should do the trick for ya.

  • I know you said you used a tube screamer type pedal, but have you tried it with any full blown distortion pedals?

I'm a CRATE Fanboy, and to be able to get tube for this price, I'm inches from buying one. But I play a lot of metal too, so I wanted to know if my Digitech Metal master (which is all full blown gain) would sound good with the blackheart. Thanks for the demo!

  • Sorry bud, that's all I've ever used. There's no reason to think it wouldn't work real well any pedal. I will say that part of getting one these is so you can enjoy output tube saturation tone at a somewhat reasonable volume. Get your preamp saturation from the pedal - best of both worlds.

Too much in the front and I'm not sure you'll hear the output stage? Maybe. Let us know.

Congrats to those of you finally getting the little guy after much wait.

    Cheers!

  • Just got mine finally...yes, worht the wait. I love it. Bonehead rock really does blow away so much of the twinky stuff we have to sort through...and this little pig delivers the goods.

  • I didn't know it was on the Blackheart site, scary. Hope I don't get in trouble.

All I was doing was trying to share with you folks a little about the amp. Also how a little amp can sound huge in a recording.

The cab has the regular vintage 30's not greenbacks. That's why you see the blanket. I use that to tame cab for recording. Old recording trick.

The mullard is the real deal. Came from my old man's tv repair biz.

New chinese 12ax7 would be good second choice tho.

    Tnx guys.

  • By the way is that a vintage Mullard 12AX7 or one of the new production ones?

  • WOW!!! That tone is awesome, I am going to buy one. Please tell me what speakers were in that Marshall cab. By the way your youtube video is now featured on the Blackheart Engineering home page, congrats !!!

  • They gotta speed up...I can't wait...going crazy watching for the truck

  • Oooh yeah, i'm feelin that tube mojo going on.

My friend just ordered this, i'm so proud of him. Sounds awesome.

  • Sorry you folks are waiting on you amps. It should be worth the wait tho.

Ok, after a few attempts to put a link in this text field I see that can't be done.

If you look over at "about this video" I've added a fileden link to a better audio file. It was used to make above vid.

    Good Luck All.

  • Man, I must have watched this video 50 times now. I want my amp too! I'm betting I won't get my hands on one until late February though. :/

  • If you look at vid you'll see a "Tubulator" - cheapo tubscreamer-like clone. That's what's used in this sound file. I also bet a simple boss ds1 pedal would sound good too.

I tend to keep pedal down low and crank the amp for output stage overdrive. Best of both worlds.

    Good luck.

  • I have a Bh5h with a Ds-1 Distortion, and you are right, it does sound good.

  • i´ve ordered the bh-5 combo, and i´m so psyked ;D

wich pedal would u recommend to play hi-gain with this little hellhound?=)

  • I ordered one of these little half stacks too. Supposedly it's backordered until the 31st. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to ship.

  • i can´t wait man .__. i want to have mine RIGHT NOW!

  • Thanks!

I know you'll enjoy it. The little amp is way cool. Can't believe they're so cheap. Made in china - oh well. Looks well made.

It does get break-up on it's own but it's more of a blues thing. This amp is great with pedals too. I bet he designed it that way on purpose. One preamp tube and still output tube overdrive. I only had volume at 80% for song file! Good luck!

  • very cool little amp, mines on order...Nice job with the tune!
