As far as I understand, the liquid sodium or potassium used as coolant does not absorb neutrons like heavy and light water. This allows the neutrons to bombard and thus react more fissile material, making better use of the fuel and releasing more energy. You cannot harvest weapons grade material from a FBR, as all weapons grade material is burned in the reaction, you can harvest WGM from a LWR or HWR.

Like all reactors, FBR breed materials, the key distinction is that FBR breed material that can then be consumed in the ongoing reaction. A FBR can release about 99.5% of the energy contained in uranium. This is not the efficiency of the whole system, only about 30% of the energy released through fission, or any reaction for that matter, can be mechanically converted into electricity.
There is no creation of new matter or energy in a FBR as would be required to achieve Over Unity. A FBR only makes better use of the energy and matter available in the fissionable fuel. From your comments, it appears that you understand a fission reaction, which is why your statement that FBR achieve Over Unity is extremely confusing to me.

A fast-breeder is not an over-unity device. Think of the atoms of U235 as being like sticks of dynamite with no detonator caps. When the bombarding neutrons convert U235 into U238 it is like adding the detonator caps to the sticks of dynamite.
You eventually have to add some U235 to the breeder reactor to replace the U235 converted into U328. Therefore the U235 is the "fuel" for the breeder reactor.

I fully agree that you can enrich more than you use. That means that the fuel cycle is a two-step process. You enrich U235, that means that eventually you are going to run out of it!
But don't you get it. The spent fuel becaomes that! I suppose you will need more U235 as you will run out eventually. The answer my friend is to run a mag recator next to it to make the extra U235 you need and and to use the extra 238 you gain!

So you eventually run out of shielding. Look, you start off with 10 units of U238 and 90 units of U235. One year later you have extracted a ton of electrical energy, and you now have 20 units of fission byproducts, 30 units of U238, and 50 units of U235.
Wow, you have actually have MORE U238, and LESS U235, and you burned off some U238 to produce the electricity. Look at the numbers, you are eventually going to run out of U235. Simple shit man.

I fully agree that you can enrich more than you use. That means that the fuel cycle is a two-step process. You enrich U235, that means that eventually you are going to run out of it!

But don't you get it. The spent fuel becaomes that! I suppose you will need more U235 as you will run out eventually. The answer my friend is to run a mag recator next to it to make the extra U235 you need and and to use the extra 238 you gain!

Hey man I am no expert but you can look it up if you want to. The spent fuel certainly does not become U235, I list it above as "fission byproducts".

Well, both fission and fusion reactors work because after the reaction you loose some mass in the reactants, and that mass gets turned into energy that heats water or liquid metal, using the formula E = MC-squared.
One more time, that's not over-unity. However, knowing that the oceans contain so much water, and we can get hydrogen from water, fusion reactors, if they can get them working commercially, have an almost unlimited source of fuel on Earth.

The bang wasn't big but in comparison to what came before it was the size of a Universe. Compare to our Universe it wa the size of a whisp witin a spec of dust! I am no expert but I can certainly give you a short version of the story. After the Big Bang, the stars formed and they were converting hydrogen into helium. Eventually the helium and hydrogen combine into heavier elements. Old stars containing heavier elements eventually explode, and the heavier elements eventually form planets and life forms on the planets. Do you know the famous song that goes "We are stardust and we've got to get back to the garden"?

The pre-stars are just big balls of hydrogen in space that clumped together because of gravitational attraction. The gas balls suck in gas clouds in the area. When they get heavy enough, the extreme internal pressure starts a fusion reaction, and the balls of gas switch on and become stars. And that's the start of the decline of the star. It burns fuel until it runs out and either explodes or goes dark, depending on it's mass. The aliens "switch on" Jupiter like that in the movie 2010.

the atoms are made of energy. e=mc squared. after the universe cooled, the energy converted into mass in the form of hydrogen. then fusion started and so on and so forth. heavier elements. and magnetism isnt made of anything. its a force. so is gravity. why is 1 helium atom not as dense as the 4 hydrogen atoms that it takes to make helium? its because some of the actual mass has been transformed into energy.

Gas ball suck in gas clouds in the area? Thats after the big bang! Before the first high temp explosion thing were a bit different! How to make the hydrogen in the first place. There is only one process known to man that occurs in nature that can explain the pre big bang expansion and it is overlooked all the time. I am not going to spell it out for you. You must work it out for yourself. It becomes obvious after a while. Then you realize how small small can get!
