This is the best version/performance ever of My Generation. The maniacal drumming, the perfect guitar fills, the bass lines that are part of rock and roll history, and Daltrey's voice right on the mark: one not to be topped. No wonder I love the Who.
@vedderfan94 Let's see: Gibson SG Special with P90s. Yes, I am familiar with the Live at Leeds version of My Generation. I love the tone Townsend gets from his P90 equipped SG Special. I'm not knocking that version, but I definitely prefer the Monterey version. Townsend's playing is better on the Monterey version. And the tone Townsend gets from his Fender Stratocaster at Monterey are not the tones I think of when I think Fender Stratocaster. I love it!
@npspec34 I really cant see that man. I think history has shown The Who to have been the superior act. Its very cool to rank Hendrix as #1 but I dont honestly believe his music or his antics (stolen from Townshend) have topped The Who. An amazing and unique guitarist though, clearly.
this is good music, not the rap crap we have today!!!!!! here's what john entwistle said: "I can`t stand rap....people who can`t sing do rap....you can sing rebellion as well as talk it....Hitler would have been in a rap band." completely agree with him!!!!!!
wait for it......wait for it.... 2:00 until end of clip.

Love this version but sorry I have to disagree. Have you heard the Live at Leeds version? Roger's voice is at an all-time best on that album.

I love The Who, BUT Hendrix at Monterrey is one of the most famous and seminal events of the 20th century.
Pete did NOT want to go on after Jimmie and as he said, "I tossed and he lost"
The Who went on before Hendrix, becuz they didn't want to go on after.

Hendrix's performance was more memorable and he didn't destroy as much. Good song though.

More or less captures the general viewpoint of the 60's generation. Although, I think it has been recycled by a couple of more since then.
