don't give a ferret a bath everyday!! those people who said it's ok never did their research! it's bad for their skin and it'll actually make them more oilier and smelly to compensate for their dry skin. When I cleaned their "laundry" or bedding, that usually helped alot!!! the smell sticks to the stuff in their cage.

I recommend you get a copy of Ferrets For Dummies (not saying you're a dummyl it's just the best ferret book out there!) and read it cover to cover several times before deciding a ferret is the right pet for you.

Ferrets are best kept in threes, actually, because if kept in pairs, if one dies, the other suffers great depression. They are very expensive to keep, require high protein diets, and you must have a ferret-knowledgable vet in your area.

@lilbluey3 the law is mostly there because if they get loose they will survive so well in cali, that it would eat and possibly endanger some species. its legal for vets to see your ferret and treat them at least.

@Cailany - That is actually a complete myth. Ferrets have been domesticated so long that they can no longer survive in the wild on their own, they cannot hunt well enough or find appropriate shelter. If a ferret escapes (or is dumped by an uncaring owner) it will only live for a few days before dying.

@lucassrocks1 haha okay well I have two ferrets and people at pet stores arent experts on ferrets. talk to someone who knows things about them, or veterinarians, or even RESEARCH on the internet and every site you see will tell you it's terrible to give them baths every day. their skin will dry out and produce more oils, making them smell. on top of that, its just bad to make their skin dry out. you shouldnt even give dogs a bath everyday. thats terrible!

D: I've been waiting for this ever since I subbed! xD Anyhows, to anyone thinking of breaking down and gettin a ferret, be advised to do ALOT of research before hand, they -are not- as easy as say a dog or cat. You have to have everything pre-setup before they arrive! And also, iffen ya turn up the volume a bit, you can hear them dooking/chittering! (It's a sign of extreme delight, the dooking sound I mean!)
