  • This is suppose to be the Edge? Sounds like shit...

  • I just got my first guitar today and he seems Pretty good to me... Wtf with all the hate?

  • YOUR RIGHT....THIS IS BAD

  • awful

  • Yeah the effects are about 800 ms delay and 60% reverb, thats what I use and I'm pretty sure it ends up nearly the same as the edges styles, using a BOSS 3 reverb.

  • this is nowhere near how the edge plays it.........

  • wrong chords. and the delay is way out on wrong config. sry

  • wrong sound, very thin, wrong delay wrong notes.....why you disrespect the edge like that

  • I have one of those amps and it is hot.

  • you suck!!!

  • If you're going to tell people how to play something correctly, you might want to actually learn the song. This makes you look bad. I'm surprised you haven't deleted this video.

  • @thegonz111 people should really add the words "more or less" to their video descriptions. Like in "how to sound more or less like edge in bad". This kind of resembles the sounds but it's not perfect at all.

  • @mtsn I suppose you're right, I think I was a little sauced when I made that comment, kinda harsh. I remember when I was figuring it all out. I think people should preface their interpretations of the works, or they can tell everyone to eat shit and piss i Hitler's face.

/I'm sauced again Good on ya submitter fer putting it out there, (but seriously, it's played on the 12th fret.)

  • dude , awesome, I have to try that, I do the simpler way..

  • U SHOULD CHANGE THE TITLE!!!

  • this could go on forever, who is the best guitarist out there?im a massive u2 fan but edge is not the best goin,ok he uses a lot of effects but any of us who plays live use some sort off effects, just to back edge up ,all i can say is nearly 200 million album sales and play to 90,000 people per night means he's doin something rite, shredders stick to your bedrooms.

  • That isn't the solo, that's the main riff

  • That tone would be great for where The Streets Have No Name!!!

(With a tiny bit of drive!!!)

    Matt.

  • @DyingFetus408 The Edge is not a technical guitarist. He's an effects technician. That's his style. Eric Johnson kicks ass in the blues arena. The Edge has the same chops but only showcases them on live cuts of "Bullet the Blue Sky" Being fast does not equal being good. I find The Edge's "walls of sound" more appealing than Yngwie Malmsteen's shredding. He's appealing because he's good at what he does. IDK any other player that builds up sounds like Dave Evans does (The Edge)

  • jfcash84 first off props, for making a good argument not a lot of you tubers that do that. I would agree but I feel that a guitar is meant to have it's voice truly brought out and played. Effects have been used by ton's of guitarists I acknowledge that, and I think Dave Evans has something going for him. but the monotony in his playing kill's it for me, and your absolutely right speed isnt everything but I feel it does have some weight.

  • @DyingFetus408 Thank you for a very mature response. As you said, that's rare for YouTubers. Keep on listening to the great music (Blues are my first love.)

  • The fact that the EDGE is not a technical player does not by any means make him a "Bad Guitar Player".........as a matter of fact, the Edge is probably the best in the world at his Guitar Technique. It is not a difficult style...but it is a darn good one that has made him one of the most Famous and Successful musicians in history, He was the first to fully demonstrate this style of Playing on a Major Record Lable and to this day as soon as you hear him pluck a single note...you know it is him.

  • True DAT! He sounds good and that's all that matters. I used to really dig fast, complex players but it gets boring. I still admire complex technique that's clean and original but most of it sounds terrible. It's only made to impress, not to listen to.

  • @joesl8 I utterly agree! While shredding can be impressive when done well, I sure couldn't enjoy listening to it for more than 5 minutes without getting bored - or ear ache!

The sounds Edge creates are beautiful (surely nobody can deny that... can they?!) and take you to another planet. And the best bit - there's NO-ONE else that sounds like him - you could play me a u2 song I'd never heard before and I'd know who it was from the first note!

  • @christhesnaildriver Maaan, I know you wrote this 7 months ago, but you are so wrong. The Edges sounds aren't that unique, he is using guitar effects that are available to everyone to buy in a guitar or music shop. Anyone can easily recreate the sounds he makes on his songs, by switching a knob on his/her effect pedal, because his guitar riffs are, allbeit, easy as shit. But when it comes to shredding, thats not something you can just buy, it takes talent to be able to shred with true skill.

  • @Rashy3000 dude you are the wrong one. Yes it does take talent to shred, i agree HOWEVER. it takes equal amounts of talent, more actually, to create melodic music that defies the test of time. Dont believe me? Ask Jimmy page. Everyone can play Stairway to heaven on the guitar but no one else invented it before Jimmy. Not because they didnt want to but because they couldnt.

  • @brickwall595 I know it takes talent to write music that stands the test of time :P But you misunderstood what I meant I think. I was arguing the point that The Edge himself has a unique sound, personally I don't think he does because his music borrows a lot from effects, without effects his music is nothing. Therefore there is nothing unique about a sound that uses reverb, delay, distortion etc considering lots of artists use them.. that is all I meant, I don't know what you think I meant xD

  • @Rashy3000 My apologies, I now understand what your inplying.

  • @brickwall595 haha, don't worry about it man, I was only talkin shite if ya know what I mean ;)

  • @Rashy3000 That isn't really true. I get where you are coming from but a sound, by your definition can never be unique then. What makes a sound unique is the specific settings and combinations of the effects, amps, guitars etc. I write music and use a lot of effects here and there but perhaps my most commonly used effect is just a POG2 octave generator. Nothing crazy but it gives my music it's own sound mixed with the other effects that I am using. The Edge does the same thing. (continued)

  • @Rashy3000 It takes substantial knowledge as well as the time and effort spent experimenting to come up with these specific sounds. It's not every day that an artist thinks up a song with the effects already dialed in. It takes time perfecting the sound you want for a specific song, thus making that sound unique. :)

  • that's because he's been playing the same notes since he started lol!

  • @ryanalan111 Very Funny!

  • That's because the Edge only plays about 1 note then the Pedals loop it. ha-ha. I don't hate the man, just people claiming he's the greatest guitarist in the world.. He gets the job done fair do's.

  • dood... ur echo is so perfect... howd u get it like that?

i qould love you if u told mee

    no homoD:

  • you s-u-c-k, fail, horriible sound. you buy that "guitar" at wal-mart

  • WTF

  • HORRIPILANTE!!!

  • This is atrocious.

  • edge uses ac 30 vox amp i believe..

  • Sorry, but what a plastic sound, but played pretty good.

  • In my opinion, The Edge and Keith Richards are much better guitar players than all these malmsteen-vai-satriani-guys who never recorded a song that's worth remembering. It is useless to be a good guitar player if you don't know what to do with your talent.

  • i think edge is great...but i couldn't disagree with you more - surfing with the alien and satch boogie are two VERY memorable songs and satriani is probably known as the best technical guitarist of our time. just because you don't like the music doens't mean others won't remember it!

  • I'm going to have to side with TheJoern, I'm not saying that all those other guys who are ridiculously technical and play fast and just solo are bad guitar players, I'm saying they tend to get caught up in solos and super fast playing because it is fun. They get lost in the magnetism of rock solos and instead are only showing their talent through scales and all other sorts of bullshit. there is a time and a place for everything in music and sometimes you need to "dumb it down" to make music.

  • it's all preferance. I for one can't stand Keith Richards' tone, and find "The Edge" annoying as hell. It's just preferance, don't bash people because you don't like their songs.

  • Used to own this amp back in the 80's. Wish I still had it..... Phil Keaggy utilized one along with his Mesa Boogie Mark IV. The thing was super small but weighed alot of its size...built like a tank.

  • to josiedeepvoice ... and what is your contribution to the history of guitar playing and development? You'd wanna be pretty f***ing good to be badmouthing Edge like you have champ.

  • Agreed smoo70, There are too many people here who just want to cover up their own short comings by criticising the work and talents of others. Edge may use a lot of effects and delay, but that's his sound, without it he wouldn' be the edge...

  • Without it he would indeed not be the edge, he might have been a good guitar player who doesn't need such a ridiculous name to cover up that he actually sucks at guitar.

  • GREAT awsome sound buddy

  • okay nice sound check great job i like u are playing u2

  • Not bad.....but your making it difficult for yourself. Your finger postioning is different from how Edge plays it.

  • nice tone

  • David Gilmour and The Edge are masters of delay and modulation.

  • Yeah man!

  • wrong, delay is nothing without the Edge :)

  • @r2on no, you got it the wrong way round...

  • Seeing videos like yours makes me appreciate the sounds Edge makes, and the creative ways in which he masters it.

    Fantastic video!

  • good , pretty good...

  • I mean no disrespect but you are not playing it accurately. You are playing on the wrong string... and your delay settings are way off.

  • @anstratdubh1979 Sounds good. Don't be so picky

  • @SuperLuigirules1

Was being "picky" I made an honest and respectful response. And I pointed out what they person might look at to help it sound better.

As for is 'sounding good', that is fine if you think so. I don't.

  • Sorry I responded with the wrong video..you may remove the Led Zep one.

    Nice work.

  • what is your delay set to? Time/repeats wise...

  • You aren't even playing it right!

  • I thought you did a good job there. I hadn't realized how much echo is on that. Nice job.

  • this song is called Bad lithium

  • this song is called Bad lithium

  • what song is this?

  • bad supuestamente

  • sorry man, thats not it. not at all

  • asi no es.. se toca de otra forma..

  • not bad

  • your playing isn't very crisp. Listen to how edge plays and hear the notes...its a very clean strike.

What do I know..I am just a drummer.

  • no, your right mr. drmmer

  • hey, do you really think he´s the edge? he could be anyone except the edge

  • hey Edge .....This riff it's no good is bad... devi suonare la 5 corda a vuoto e la 4 corda al 12 tasto e la prima corda al 12 tasto....ciao

  • ...........sorry, thats bad!! no pun intended!!

  • well... Edge never play bad in this way

  • not even close. keep practicing!

  • cool u2 is the best@!!

  • You are so cool!! Could you tell me how to create this effect.

  • I have an alesis quadraverb digital siginal processor and a Gallien Krieger 250 ML amplifier. The guitar is a Fender Stratocaster. Thanks

  • @ffilletti Set your delay to a 1/8th dotted delay and leave the decay long enough so that when you sustain a chord, it goes with the beat.

  • cool amp buddy, they dont make em like that anymore!!! i got mine off ebay for 70 pounds, what an absolute bargain!!

  • Edge is that you? You're the greatest and I wish you would have played longer but i'm sure your busy. Is that a Gallien Krueger amp? Man those are tight how did you get one?

  • Actually the second one I've owned. First one was stolen! Thanks for the comment.
