  • check the throttle they get caked up in gunk, and also the flyby wire VDO STEPPER MOTOR inside the black housing on the throttle, give all a good clean out with carb cleaner (throttle a PITA to remove) replace O ring to the top throttle air servo (they leak like hell). had trouble with my megane, no one could find the problem but i did water ingress into the stepper motor case, piched rubber seal so put a bead of silicone on after youve taken it appart.

  • Having the same problem

  • i have same problem, check timing gear

  • My dad had a similar problem with his 1999 Megane 1.4. It stalled when it was cold, but ran fine once it had warmed up. We never found out what the problem was though, because we sold it, the problem was intermittent too which didn't help.

  • its a easy problem

  • My 1.6 rt would stall from warm or cold if I didn't give it some gas and rev!

  • same to my coupe dynamique... Car works fine, but it couldn't be moved when it was minus 2C. Im about to go buy new air filter, clean Idle control valve and spray some carburetor cleaner in throttle body.. If i will have same problem again, i will disconnect MAF and see if it works...

  • 72uoba finally did you fix this problem? if so, what was the problem? Thanks a lot.

  • the problem is from the Pinion Defazor, some were in the distribution, the cost is around 200 Euro

  • my 2004 vw polo does the same thing when engine it's cold i found faulty temperature sensor and i cleaned the throttle body

  • you need to buy new reel/inductor/ ( i don't know how it is in english :-) i had the same problem but when i changed reels it's ok now

  • I have the exact same problem. Is there anyway to fix this?

  • usually the throttle gets dirty and it needs to be cleaned or the rpm sensor(something like that). I have the same problem, and to start the engine sometimes i have to use the throttle. It usually appears after using cheaper gas like Petrom 95 and once i've had this problem with Euroluk.

  • You must clean throttle body!

  • i have the exact same problem, been told to clean the throttle body so thats my plan of action!

  • I haven't read all the information here only watched the video I happened to be a renaut technician, the cause to this problem could be many things such as a Camshafts sensor, a TDC sensor, a Temperature sensor also throttle may need cleaning, Get Renault to reprogram the injection computer, One more thing if the throttle needs cleaning it won't show up as a fault on the diagnosis tool

  • yakıt filtresi arızalı lan bunun :D

  • The exact thing is happening to me at the minute! Now thankfully is hasn't happened in a few days now but it is not very reassuring if your a hundred miles away from home. lol Going to try the collant sensor connector! Thanks 4 your help!!

  • why dont you just rev it to keep it goin

  • The video serves to illustrate the exact nature of the problem.

  • i've got renault megane 1.4eco 1997. V-max = 130 km/h. Somebody could tell me why V-max is so low? What's wrong with my car?

  • If you watch the video, you shall see that the engine is, indeed, warm. QED.

  • Well, I had the coolant temperature sensor replaced. All was good for a year. Same problem recurred; Renault could find no fault. Removed coolant sensor connector, found green corrosion; brushed, cleaned up and sprayed liberally with WD40 - no problems since.

  • Can you tell me how to remove the coolant sensor, where is it located?, excuse my ignorance?

  • This is wrong, the sensor for the ECU is actually on a different sensor to the one on the gauge. Whilst this has been rectified and happened to be a CTS the reading on the dash has nothing to do with what the ECU "sees".

  • Whilst it does behave very similarly to a TDC failure, this problem was finally traced to a faulty coolant temperature guage which was informing the ECU that the coolant was at -20C.

  • thanks man, its appreciated very much as its just a pain in the ar$e

  • u sure of this, i have the exact same problem and ive read it could be the camshaft position sensor
