I'd try it. I've had liver. Didn't really like it lol but always down for new foods. Your Step Dad reminds me of a lot of people I work with from Sudan, Congo, Somalia and Ethopia. One of my friends from Sudan gave me some of his meat he had. I poped it in my mouth, asked him what it was and he said it was Cow Lungs lol. I liked it though. Made me laugh because any normal person would've spit it out XD I love African food though.

Yeah its cool. But there is one thing that soooooooooooo damn good that he cooks. He cooks some kind of spicy rice with beef or goat, corned beef, hot peppers, african beans, tomato paste, oil, and it takes all day to cook. Its the best thing that i have tried of his.
