Dreamgirls was a good film. The problem is, before it was even released, there were a lot of movies like Dreamgirls, so it added absolutely nothing to the genre, thus making it appear kind of mediocre. As the voiceover says, "just recycle an old script and add glitter." And why do films like these ALWAYS appear during the Oscar season? God help these award-hungry producers and filmmakers.

Well, Dreamgirls was really nothing like Walk the Line or Ray, and not 42nd Street which was a fictional backstage show from like 80 years ago, and there's just not much to parody about Dreamgirls, it's not like there's an overabundance of musicals at about 1-2 a year.
