Duchable knows how to play the piano. His superb technique puts him above all criticism.
Try the piece yourself before you judge. I bet there is NOBODY on this thread who can play it any better. As a matter of fact, very few on this planet could. And the ones who could are dead.
Actually it's matter of taste whose version is best. So it's kinda ridiculous to say that somebody's version is best without mentioning that is your own opinion. But there is no doubt that this is one of the best though.
I wonder what this guy wanted to play at 00:39. %) And... It's useless to argue about different performers who could play this piece better than Duchable. I mean Cziffra, whose version I like more. Does anyone know else more flawless versions?
Duchable thrills here with his accents and imaginative touches and dynamics.I was not wrong .little here or Chopin sonatas that would make me buy tickets... make a spectacle .not germane to musical concept ?Trying to be different for difference. Well another french pianist who does things differently delalsalle,Grimaud.Stakes r really high for carrers these days.Tristes tropiques a mon idee.
he just looks a bit hunched to me. i know that when i sit in that position its really uncomfortable... dont get angry at me :S thats just what i think
Don't worry; I won't get angry at you, I'm not a moron. Anyway, what I mean is what it looks like he's doing and what he is actually doinh can be quite different. Try this: Sit down at the piano, straighten out your back, and lean forward from your pelvis. Try to play like this, do you still feel hunched? This is the posture I think he's actually using.
Freidheim is not at his bet there nor is D'Albert or any of the others. Only Rosenthal and Sauer impress in their records. Duchable dumped piano in river.I never cared for his playing.
superb! Please guys, try to listen to Arthur Friedheim's performance of La Campanella. He was one of Liszt's actual pupil. CD is Pupils of Liszt, by Pearl I think.
"campy"...? Please, show more respect to both Liszt and Paganini....

It may be a matter of taste which one is the best, but it's certainly not matter of taste which ones aren't . . .

His back is straight, neck & shoulders are relaxed, I don't see anything wrong with it. Can you explain what you mean?
