i was there for this! Boeing 747SP doing what a fighter jet might do - so incredible and unexpected! What happens next kept all the performers and the spectators saying..."WHAT WAS THAT?"! I thought the Red Bull Helicopter was so awesome and the hit of the show...but, this certainly made everyone laugh

Nice! I love it when United Airlines flew one of their 747s in the San Francisco Fleet Week air show. Even with the Blue Angels and any other display, the 747 is just so cool when it flies by so low and slow enough to really appreciate it. Thanks for posting the video!

NASA has an SP called "SOFIA" (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy). It has been modified to carry a large (100 inch) telescope looking through a hatch on its aft port side, and has recently gone into operation, after years of preparation. Look it up with Google news. It's a joint American-German project, and hopefully will continue flying for many years.

Looks like an 747SP (special performance) verson of the 747 line that set the round the world speed distance record with a full complement of invited passengers. The SP was a Pan Am requested plane and flew in Pan Am livery for the record attempt as part of an advertising campaign for Boeing and Pan Am. It actually made headlines back in the 70's when they did it. You can see the fuselage looks a lot shorter than the typical 747 which was obvious when one flew overhead.

@motofreddy I used to fly these flying gas tanks between LA and Sydney, back in the 80's they were referred to as Special Purpose (SP) they were the first non-stop flight it took about 18hrs. That pilot has some big brass one's to bring it that low without gear down.

I miss the original 'jumbo jet' so much. I always seem to get stuck on A300s and 737s which I hate =x (particularly the Airbus). I miss when I was a kid and I used to go up in the Boeing 747 so much more. Somehow I always felt safer in those gentle giants. I hardly see them now.
