@afghanimal519 Any instance where they are on the ground, whether or not they are moving, attacking, being shield-poked, etc. Just have to finish the drill while they are grounded
@dphanna rest is one of the few attakcs in the game that has supierior knockback. it jiggs best move, but also her most risky so it a high-risk,high-reward move.
Phanna, I have a question, and I don't want to resurrect this thread (also it wouldn't be relevant)
What other characters have this dair that makes the opponent spin? I was watching a vid and realized that Falco's dair sometimes does this. Do all characters' have this? Why have I never noticed that Falco has this too lol?
asjfdhgaf omg. dude. I'm not stupid. I understand what you're saying but you don't understand what I am saying. I'VE BEEN PLAYING THIS GAME FOR A LONG TIME. I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN Falco's dair and Jiggly's.
I want to know what caused the OPPONENT TO SPIN. asdkjgasf WATCH THE VIDEO Mango(Falco) vs Germ(Link)1 at 0:21. Falco's dair causes link to SPIN. WHY?
I know this comment is 5 months old but it really seems to bother you so I'd figure I'd try to answer it. I watched the video, it seems that falcons dair hit with a weak hitbox, and link was low enough damage not to be knocked back. That kind of thing happens all the time. It's just a combination of weak hits and low damage. Link also may have (accidentally) crouch cancelled it, but not likely, because SSBM crouch cancelling usually keeps the character on the ground.
@dphanna then you were just a few frames too slow with the rest, since it doesn't count as a consecutive hit. I think that's what antixanimations meant.
@rikzz0r I think what you two aren't realizing, is that with the ice climbers you HAVE to wait a few frames on the drill rest, due to the animation they make. Watch them, they don't dip back until that point. So consecutive combo in training or not, that's the proper way to do it..
I like how you showed what the effects were at dif % becuase your show when you can kill them with it and when its tactical its not easy to have the right percentage to pull this off and memerize them good job phanna
though I haven't tried this, what I think is that them "falling on you" is based upon the damage/how floaty they are. If you notice, the heavier characters start at much higher percentages in order to make them fall on jiggs, while the very floaty ones can start at 0 or very low. The falling is probably just knockback from the ground
I never got that move to do anything other than make her fall asleep, which is extremely noobish of me, because I always own on this game when playing with crowds. DO you have to be landing on them for it to work?
it only works if you are on top of the person. Its usually very easy to pull of on larger characters like bowser if they leave themselves vulnerable, but it can be done on anyone
I know about this stuff for a while. But I thought that it could only be done on Yoshi b/c of his odd body. Phanna you're the best Samus there is in FL, plz let me keep the best Jiggs in FL title. I didn't think that the Dair L-canceled actually could work outside of Yoshi, DK, and Bowser.
I want to know why the characters are getting knocked into the rest hit box. Maybe it has something to do with DI...
Their DI isn't what determines if they get flipped while being drilled; it's how and when jigglypuff lands next to them while dairing. Check out the % ranges I posted in the thread, and practice flipping people with dair.
i didnt actually think this would work, even though everytime i would do a dair (in game), i quickly consider resting, but have doubts. I noticed after the drill you jumped in to the rest a little bit...? But if you didnt jump in to it a little, its hard to believe that the rest hitbox would actually hit..guess the rest connects because its at the very edge of the hitbox. Maybe some clarification? Maybe im weird lol?
No, I am not jumping before resting, and in fact you must NOT jump after the drill. You have to "flip" them by timing and spacing how you land from a sh dair. Then you just l-cancel and wait for their body to pass through where you can rest them. Read / post in the thread for more info.
You'll notice this only happens on the low-% clip for 8 of the characters: Fox, Game & Watch, Jigglypuff, Kirby, Mewtwo, Pichu, Roy, and Yoshi can all be rested from 0% if they twitch in the right direction. The only clips where the combo count resets to 1 are these videos, because of how they get hit. Similar to super scope spam, even though the counter resets to 1, it is still a combo (though potentially avoidable through DI). Good observation though, it puzzled me at first as well.
welcome to the falco metagame (dair > down-b)

drill-rest is very tricky, you have to master timing the fast fall L-cancel to make them flip before the rest

Falco's doesn't have a drill, it looks like it but it doesn't.
Fox has one, Kirby does, Mario and Dr Marios.

watch Mango(Falco) vs Germ(Link)1 at 0:21 please.
martyelm 2 years ago
Its not a drill, it hits the opponent only once in all cases.
Drills are multiple hit moves that keep the opponent in place, unless they are in the air of course.
HiddenTriagram 2 years ago
can you tell me what happens in that video? did you even watch it?

JIgglypuff's is a drill.
Falco's isn't.
If you didn't understand my comment you could've asked.
