  • Shame they couldn't have put a Super Decal sheet in this. My favourite was the sheet on the Revell Texan, but used on the Academy kit of course!

  • @ajivins1 Agreed... And if you mean the 1/72 Revell Texan, that is the old Heller kit, also reboxed by Airfix.. :)

  • @BasicModelling They had to wrap the sheet around the kit to fit it in the box!

  • @ajivins1 That would have been a large sheet.. :)

  • this is a toy if you want to see a proper model panther search harold dowbekin

  • @vicdem20 Well, I'm perfectly happy with it, thank you! :) It's an old kit built OOB so I don't expect it to be perfect.. The hobby is all about having fun and enjoying what you do, and I enjoyed building this... :) Thanks for your opinion nevertheless..

  • What would be the paint in humberol

  • @lukey126 It used to be Humbrol 190 but that paint sadly is no longer produced by Humbrol.. :P

  • Can you use tamiya enamel thinners to remove dry tamiya paint from a plastic model (academy 1:48 limited spitfire)

  • @TheWelshEgg I'm not sure.. it may affect the plastic. I would try MrMuscle Ovencleaner for the paint removal, if possible..

  • it took you 10days it would take me like 5 hours

  • @CustomSCALEmodelS Congratulations... :) Still, I rather go slow.. I build as and when I can... even if it is only a couple of minutes a day... :)

  • why you do not paint with airbrush??

  • @juliox98 Beacause I haven't got one.. :)

  • @BasicModelling but if hud had one you will paint with airbrush??? there are many airbrushes to buy and are cheap

  • @juliox98 True.. my main problem is that I have nowhere to sit and work with an airbrush.. or rather nowhere to use a compressor for the air.. :)

  • @juliox98

    and but so?

    Hairy sticks ftw! :P

  • In your channel main page you say you build the model the best of your abitlity, but i'm simply amazed!!!!! You're always the best, thanks!

  • @lallix97 I would be a far better modeller, if I could airbrush.. but I have nowhere to do so.. :) But thank you.. I appeciate your comment!! :)

  • @BasicModelling I think even with the brush you're the best!! :)

  • @lallix97 Thank you again... :)

  • @BasicModelling thanks, I'll have a look...

  • I heard KLEAR is the best all purpose modellers fluid, but it was £26 on eBay!!! do you know any half-decent alternatives?

  • @minimodelling If you're very lucky they may still have some at Robert Dyas in the High Street in town.. it'll set you back about a fiver.. :) Those who have tried it say that 'Pledge', the new style Klear, is a s good as the old, but I don't know.. Nor do I know where to find any..

  • @BasicModelling i have pledge

    -australia

  • @MilitaryAircraft101 Then by all means try it, as long as it is the Pledge Floor Polish (with future shine).. :) But try it on something you're not too careful about, to start with, in case it doesn't work out.. :)

  • @BasicModelling i used it on my Beau, it worked perfect (though i didn't go back with a matt varnish)

  • I personally would like do know how do you get silver looking so good all the time.

I painted a draken full silver aluminium and it dosent look nearly as good as anything else i have seen :<

  • @gamerdude223 I use the Humbrol 11 silver, and paint a couple of thin coats.. sometimes even a third, using a flat soft brush.. it has to be allowed to dry properly between each coat! That seems to work the best for me... :)

  • Most of the revell matchbox reboxings usualy are quite decent kits.

  • @gamerdude223 Yes, they are.. and it gives us oldtimers a chance to rebuild the kits we made many many years ago.. and hopefully make them better!! :)

  • i think the picture at 1:34 is wrong, but anyways nice job, i love to watch how you build models, i'm working on a 1/72 Avro Lancaster :D keep up the good work

  • @Peti541 Well, it's a Revell logo, but perhaps not their newest one.. wrong it isn't!! :) I will build the (Revell) 1/72 Lancaster later this year, and I also have the old Novo Lancaster to build.. in a somewhat odd 1/96 scale!! :)

  • @BasicModelling good luck with it! I built mine with my father when i was like 5 years old:D and i put on the comouflage and i'm decalling it now:D

  • What type of filler do you use?

  • @TheDeltaFlight Squadron White putty.. most of the time.. :0) Sometimes I use the Vallejo filler too, which is more liquid..

  • @TheDeltaFlight Squadron White putty.. most of the time.. :) Sometimes I use the Vallejo filler too, which is more liquid.

  • what did you use to glue the canopy

  • @flexitionjr Johnsons 'Klear' floor polish.. also known as 'Future'.. or more recently 'Pledge'.. depending on where you live..

  • This is a very very ugly model, but you certainly did this one beautiful. Awesome work there, lad!

  • @tompaswedenbajs Oh, I don'tknow.. The early 50's jets with the straight wings do have a certain charm about them.. but when it comes to real beauty, nothing compares with the Saab Draken.. :)

  • Beautiful build as always Rob!! You did a fantastic job of filling in the poorly fitting areas. I love watching the Blue Angels air shows.

  • Very very nice model and you make a beauty of it. :)

  • Great i really like the wings being up, that's nice touch. Have you ever tried Green Stuff instead of standart scale model putty? Or maybe you should consider building some Warhammer armor vehicles? Some looks stunning, but with your hands it would look superb. Maybe a Predator tank, Leman Russ or Valkyrie?? :p

  • Very nice video and model, I am thinking about doing another time lapse video like I did last year. I also like your new intro it must be a throw back to your old military days.

  • nice , cool logo *intro) rob !!!!!!!

  • Nice work is a fantastico model :)

  • Super job on the kit buddy! But then, you make everything look good.

  • That looks good despite my usual prejudices when there are no spinny round bits! But it does have sticky up side bits so that sort of makes up for it

  • I saw this ame model kit at my hobby shop. i have the vid up right now & later I'll have my picture slideshow posted. Awesome work, looks really nice bro. The kit looks very clean too, for a revell kit that's very nice!! Keep up the awesome builds bro, peace!!

  • Have you ever tried any scratchbuilt kits? I've built maybe one, and it took quite a while to build it.

  • I have the f9f-5p scale 1:48 of revell. very hard to build, bad fittings, a lot of filling/sanding, detail quite good! raised panel lines... but i persisted & ended with the best model till this day. I will never attempt to build it again.

I had seen this kit, but the box image close ups showed its a bit out of scale and the lack of detail really put me off!

  • Wow !

  • very nice indeed:)

  • Nice one, Rob. Like the wings up! 1st one of the year and 1st of many...? I too am having fun with some Revell blue plastic - the Alouette II. But this time I'm going to commence several kits so I don't get bogged down in just one. So when I'm sick of blue, I'll head on over to Eduard's rather pleasing browny stuff again with the Bf109 and then when that's gets too much, maybe the Tamiya Corsair - with wings up, of course! Unless I get the gun bay set...... :/

  • @MakingModelsAgain The main reason I did this 'wings up' was the fact that there's no decals / markings on the top surface of the wings on the Blue Angels version.. I have another kit which I bought quite some time ago, and I will build that with the wings down, as a US Marines version, which is the second option! It will be a while though, as I have done this now and will go back to the models I was working on, before I got this kit..

  • At least I will have completed MY Christmas kit, which is more than most clubmembers will have done, if the last few years competitions are anything to go by.. :) It is very good to have a couple of projects on the go, as it does prevent 'boredom', and also means that if you do get bogged down, you can quickly take your mind of it by doing another model.. At the moment I only have two things on the go, though, one of which I can't work on as I have temporarily lost the building manual.. :P

  • awsome :D X3

  • A nice build vid for the start of the year, you've done lovely looking little Panther. Thanks for posting

  • So smart and elegant! :) And just to think that The Blue Angels started performing their shows on F6F Hellcats... X) It caught my attention the Panther´s super-thin landing gear bay X) Beautiful job ;) In relation to the folding wings, I remember that many, many years ago I had two 1/48 Curtiss SB2C Helldivers (so curiously small even at that scale!); one of which (maybe by Matchbox) had moveable folding wings. It must be wrecked somewhere among the old kits I "did" as a child... XDDDD

  • one thing i don't like about the revell kits is that they substitute the paint numbers with letters

  • Nice work as usual. Although as you say, it's a 30 odd year old kit and has a few problems, I always thought this was one of Matchbox's better kits, so much so that I built it twice!! lol

  • @bruce3371 I will build this kit twice too, as I already had a kit when I was given this.. My other version will be the US Marines, with wings down and a load of bombs and rockets.. :) But I won't build it yet for a while.. :)

  • Revell has in recent years released alot of the old Matchbox US navy 40-50s planes on blue plastic.

I personnaly bought the F4U corsair and it was a great kit.

  • Not in to Modeling But I never knock what someone likes to do! you like to model and other like to pick there nose! JK! awesome

  • Brilliant video! Very interesting build and it looks like a brilliant kit - i'll definitely look out for it! The option of having the wings up adds interest :)

  • great build as always Rob...i just watched the most amazing aircraft programme about all the Saab aircraft..wonderful stuff : )

  • How is it supposed to fly with the wings in that position? :)

  • @fehquig - It is a special design for mountain passes and tunnels.

  • very well done rob, i like the finished model very much :) it seems not to be very hard to create a good looking model with an outdated kit!

  • it won't load... please remind me ;)

  • Great stuff, you always have great music lol

  • Great! :)

  • Very nice model!

  • Nice work ☺
