@NINOABSNABSN You mean the main riff was Jon Lord's? No, it was taken from a James Gang (with Bolin) song. I think it was "The devil is singing our song".
BLAME THE FUCKING INDONESIAN PROMOTERS FOR GIVING HIM MORPHINE AND MADE HIM SLEPT ON HIS ARM FOR 8 HOURS, YOU'RE FUCKING ARM WOULD NUMB IF YOU SLEEP ON YOUR ARM FOR 8 HOURS, WHO COULD PLAY GOOD WITH A NUMB HAND? It's because of this Bolin seems like a shity guitar player that cannot improvise on stage in Budokan, Bolin is a great Guitar player, and look at Jon's expression he still looks like he's scared from the Indonesian Nightmare that happened to them... :'( get well soon Jon!~ RIP Bolin
Paice is filthy in this vid. Aggression and skill all rolled in together. Personally I like the music produced by this line-up the best. They were all in the their prime. Not many (if any) bands could pull off a performance like this one today. Bolin and hughes brought some funk into the equation and it works so well. And then there are the harmonies between Hughes and Coverdale. A standing ovation from me.
I'm very privileged to be watching this footage. Remember listening to "Last Concert in Japan" back in 1979 and liking some of the material realising it wasn't a great album. Fortunately it was eventually rectified with "This Time Around" though I shouldn't have had to wait almost 25 years for it!
@leppardsnake Exactly and sad.Im gonna see them for the 4th time this .
But i dont see them as Deep Purple anymore. For me Purple are MK1,2,3,4.Those were the glory days and the great songs came from these line ups.Only 3 songs are classics since Morse came.I dont blame him though.
I just see them as a Gillan,Paice,Glover performing Purple classics with 2 other great musicians Airey and Morse.
Imagine if Paice leaves and Gillan saying its still DP without Paice.
This was a great period of time for Deep Purple. Don't get me wrong I love Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore, and Roger Glover, but Coverdale, Hughes, and Bolin are all great musicians and this is a fine example of that.
@XtremeCam I totally agree. Come Taste The Band is the most underrated album from DP. It taught me to play guitar heavy riffs :). And it was funk mixed with heavy metal. At that time there were no such mix actually :)
By this point Deep Purple were a soul and funkock band. Hughes & Boling destroyed the band with their musical influences and drugs. Thank God Gillan, Blackmore and Glover returned 9 years later.
thank god that you´re that deaf...........COME TASTE THE BAND , is way better that all the shit that they are doing now, far bette than the House of Blue album..........TOMMY BOLIN RULES....also gillan has not delivered a decent singing perfomance since 1987......he´s been sucking since then
epic guitar riff ... it's because of Glenn Hughes that I don't like some of the 1974-1975 Purple songs; Bolin was awesome!
