  • I want it.

  • hey man love your collection. i have started my collection i have a sega megadrive, snes, gameboy classic and a ps1.

the snes is a yobo fc16 go but but im going to get the pal official console as i live in the uk, i thing your awsome and keep on bringing out such good reviews :)

  • I wanna see some footage of the CD content etc when it's running and all!

  • @bm001 first off, Gaester81 owned you, second stop being such a lame internet douche bag, and thrid go get laid( FYI step three should help you with step two)

  • GODDAMN THIS LOOKS SOO COOL! I WANT ONE!!!

  • I'm sure it's been said before, but it bears repeating. What you have there is not a PS1. The PS1 was the thin, flat redesign that came out later. What you have is a PS, or a PSX as it was commonly referred to (that PS2 based multimedia thing with the same name is fairly new in comparison).

When you're trying to sound all assertive about your facts, you might wanna try to actually get them right.

  • @bm001 A "PS"? Image search "Sony PS" and see what pops up. Then search "PS1". Sounds like you're pretty technical and all. I have never heard of anyone refer to the Playstation as a "PS". As for the smaller version that was released later in the Playstation life, that is actually officially called a "PSone" not "PS1". The Playstation was nicknamed by many fans as the "PSX" though that was never an official name that Sony called it. As stated by some it was called "PS-X" during development.

  • @bm001 yeah dude hes right the psx was a multimedia heavy ps2 released in japan in 2004

  • i actually have one of these systems. i bought at a yard sale back in 1999. but it didn't come with the software kit. do you know of any way to obtain the kit without the system? would be nice to program on it.

  • PS: Haters gonna hate. This was a nice review.

  • Looks cool in black.

  • the first few runs of the playstation also had the rca outputs on the back of the system. sony gradually removed things from the back of the ps1 it's whole life.

  • psone is a different system too! LOL

  • I'm pretty sure making a game requires knowing how to code C or C++.

  • hey easy man , i have a ps1 and i woudnt let anyone to touch it , or come near it , if i had the Yaroze console , i woudnt touch it myself , this is the godfather of the ps2 & ps3

  • we now see how they made ps1 emulators cause of the software that you get with it :)

  • if you can buy a 350$+ Net Yaroze, why cant you blow the extra bottlecaps on a god damn 35$ tripod? :3

  • "let's work together"?

"netto yaro ze" stand's for "let's do the internet", probably they meant that you can upload created games to the internet through serial cable to the members website, just like the commercial says

  • @HaohmaruHL I'M GONNA DO AN INTERNET!!!!

  • lou ferrigno thats all i have to say

  • why on earth do you treat this Yaroze like crap? are you insane?

  • that is a test hardware for most ps1 games that sony produced...

  • Pee Ass Ex?

  • if I had one it would probably be my first foray into console game programming.

  • the controllers make me wanna puke.

  • OMG :O

  • Didn't know about the PC Engine dev system, awesome. I remember seeing this back in the day on "The Site", I think...that show where Leo Laporte was a CG character.

  • I'm just nitpicking but is not pronounced "net-yah-ROSE"

  • Looks like a bad boy but The PS1 mini still looks better.

  • So cool.

  • Damn Straight. It's PS1, "Playstation One," not PSX.

  • wake up dude its 2012 theres something called the PS3

  • @9pokekid god your stupid

  • @samokaika You're, so, since you misspelled it you now look stupid, good job.

  • @FilmsThatAreSucky Im stupid your basically saying that because the ps3 is modern it is better. It may have better graphics but a lot of the story's are better and if your going to correct me on my spellings stop using unnecessary commas.

  • @samokaika Um, no, I was agreeing, because it is rare, it's not good to treat such machinery with disrespect.

  • @FilmsThatAreSucky and how was anyone suppose to know that?

  • @samokaika People with common sense?

  • @FilmsThatAreSucky did you even read the comment?

  • PSM in the UK used to give away some of the games on their demo discs. I remember "Terra Incognita" with great fondness :) Nice look around the system, thanks. It's safe to say that when I was playing the PSM discs I had no idea why these games were called Net Yaroze.

  • @wildphoenix1984 lol I remember Terra Incognita as well, indie game on a demo disc, really blocky :D

  • @Ps3Homepage Oh my goodness yes! Blockier than FFVII even! And full of Engrish too. But still one of the ones I enjoyed most :D

  • @wildphoenix1984 LOL Oh yeah I forgot how shocking the Engrish was in it, pretty good to say someone made it thereself though

  • @Ps3Homepage Yeah, I have the utmost respect for people who can program. The most advanced I got was with my Amstrad in BASIC :D And I've forgotten that in the intervening 20 years.

My favourite typo I think was the Main character's chicken sidekick proclaiming, "But I am really really scary." - it always gave me a giggle :D

  • And that, children, is what'll happen to you when you don't understand what's important in life.

  • those controllers are really cool

  • I remember Net Yaroze very fondly, I used to use basic a lot when I had my Sinclair ZX Spectrum so being able to use basic with so much more RAM was a treat at the time. Pity it never took off.

  • "PS-X (PlayStation Experimental) was an internal code name for the PlayStation during development"

And it stuck, so there. Though I'm sure someone has already posted this.

  • I remember receiving a Net Yaroze Disc of games produced by amateur programmers. Some of the games were worthy of publication.

  • i had 2 grey play station 1 consoles, and both were big ones not the slim ones, and one of them hade the RCA cable hook ups on the back

  • So did you ever got around to making games?

  • It really hurts me to see how you treat such a rare piece of hardware and the SDK books -__-

  • @astrojunkey Yeah, he's really rough on everything.

  • @astrojunkey You beat me to it!

  • @astrojunkey I can't believe it also.

  • @astrojunkey Oh stfu. He dropped a couple books. He treated the console just fine. Get your head outta your ass.

  • @astrojunkey Believe me I take very good care of my stuff. I'm not sure how I treated it poorly in this video unless you expect me to wear protective gloves etc.

  • @Gamester81 Well to be fair your a little careless with the disc plus setting another PS1 atop is a little careless. May scatch it up.

  • @Gamester81 Just put down the camera and use both hands - problem solved :D

  • @Gamester81 I think he meant how you where flipping through the pages and such.

  • @Gmod1001 Yeah this is a very old video of me and I was using one hand. I now use a tripod when filming which helps a lot.

  • so let me guess yarazee is a 1st generations inspired model modern eq to ps2 , neat console but programming game isn't really easy btw good review though

  • @TheCleardeath

It was a PS1, not an equivalent to a PS2. It simply had the ability to run unsigned code, and had the ports for attaching the equipment used for it.

  • @Draknfyre oh thats cool to know thanks for info :) but really i thought yaroze was inspired model to made ps2

  • A retail region free Ps1? That's awesome, but I'm curious as to how it handles the PAL format on a US tv as it runs at a different framerate.

  • this is hilarious. "i don't throw things around" he then procedes to throw everything around lmfao

  • hahaha! Hah. You look like a douche.

  • I only remember the whole Yaroze-thing from the Official Playstation Magazine. Most of the games were ass but as an experiment it was a interesting idea, but it's no wonder why it didn't catch on. The more talented programmers used this as a launch pad to gaming industry and were hired by the big companies, anyway.

  • I HATE saying "PSX".

  • the PS1 would of looked way better if it was original black

  • ps1 rules

  • Yeah, but does it blend?

  • This is still very far from professional SDK's ...

  • I loved the net yaroze games that came out on demo discs over here some of them was great terror incoming I think one of them was called and I loved it

  • Comment removed

  • Oh man I wish I could go back in time just to get this and develop for it lol... Oh how cruel time is.

  • FYI, the trailing "e" in the name would be pronounced as "ay" or "eh". I'm pretty sure Yaroze is pronounced "Yah-ro-zay". (Just as another example, Karaoke isn't pronounced 'Carrie-okee' -- it's actually 'kahrah-okeh'.)

  • that looks like it was spray painted black...

  • Why don't you subscribe my channel?

    The console is fantastic!

  • Comment removed

  • i have a playstation 1 slim grey do u no howmuch thats worth or is it even worth anything thanks i just subbed also love your videos

  • @pinkwater1234 well you can pick up a used one for £20/25

  • I always called (and still do) the original grey model, the 'Playstation' ..when the Playstation 2 was introduced, a new slimline version of the Playstation was made and this was called the Playstation one, as far as Im aware the original 'bigger' Playstation was never called a Playstation 1....I could be wrong...I probably am lol...but hey...

  • I don't like they way you handle CDs Gamester81 :/

  • Press 1 for "Your Rhife"....XD

  • People call PS1 "PSX" because they are morons.

They argue that PSX was the codename for the system, but I don't hear them call the N64 the "Ultra 64", the GameCube the "Dolphin", or the Wii the "Revolution".

  • I want the black one now and I never knew there was one

  • I never owned this,I would rather stick with a N64.

  • ps sex is good system.

  • i owned a PSX. It was cool until it was stolen

  • I think people call the PS1 the PSX because it's slightly easier to say.

  • its called primer thats on your psx

  • Ye fair fucking play i stand corrected, thats an epic machine lucky bastard for owning one. But m8 seriously how can you own it al those years and never attempt to make your own game, you could have been the pioneer for line rider or something- all those years of potential creativity. Seriously cool machine though and one of the most informative ergo best reviews ive seen/ heard on youtube. a pat on the back kind sir.

  • lol im writing this before seeing the video though, generally intrigued how you are going to make a 5 minute review of a black playstation lol, i really hope thier some wierd additional features like dvd or something.

  • @Gamester81 I have some questions,

    1. Is there a Yaroze Emulator?

    2. Can you save your Yaroze Games on a Rom?

    3. Can you save your Yaroze Games to a disc?

  • Does this use C or C++ Programming Language?

  • Comment removed

  • @gamester81 So far I've seen this video and your Nintendo DD, very informative and its just plain cool to see some of these extremely rare gaming items. Subbed.

  • where can you get those now? if anyone knows a website please let me know.

  • Wow..... my dad has this sitting in his collection display.... He always told me it was a ps1 he spray painted....

  • i have it

  • so this is the oldest version of the PS1. Mine had a circle shape and the controllers came with analogs. I bought mine in 2002. Now its dead anyway.

  • i played Net Yaroze on a demo disc and i LOVED IT

  • have you made any games yet?

  • READ hello sir and thank you for this video could you make a tutorial on the programming making game tutorial vidro as you said in here? please i sm finding these info for 5 years jope you understand

  • So, aside from the programming functionality - its essentially a region-free PS1?

  • Do you need the net yoroze console or can you use a regular ps1?

  • @fuck192ass

So, someone gives a Net Yaroze to a thrift store, and you say it's not rare? Thrift Stores aren't exactly known to have experts in video game hardware sitting in them, judging things. Someone gave up a system they no longer wanted, and the store didn't know it was special.

That's like saying you saw someone selling a rare sports card at a yard sale, and since they were selling it, it must not be rare.

  • @Draknfyre I noticed ass' account is closed. Maybe it was just a troll? Well I know I would buy 1 if I saw it for that cheap!

  • why many refer the playstation also as playstation x,is becouse the x stands for extra, also sony developed the playstation under the nema playstation x,the x does justice becouse it means that it has extra power porfomances then the never released 16bit and 32bit playstation snes cd rom addon.

  • @johneymute

    Wrong.

The system's original name was Play Station. When they split from Nintendo, they retained the name. They renamed it Playstation, and referred to it as Playstation X internally. The PSX reference made it to the public, and since Sony used it several time, it stuck.

The X means nothing, It just distinguishes it from the original project.

  • @Draknfyre wasnt the PSX its own system?

  • @binger4me

Sony reused the name for another system, but it's originally the dev name for the Playstation.

  • @Draknfyre I love it when someone talks about something they don't know about and then gets owned by someone, we need more of this so we can stop retarded noobstanks from going around confusing people.

  • @Draknfyre

I don't know if it's the same for Video game consoles but sometimes people also use "X" as a general term for a series when there are more than one generation of the product.

  • @ladygodia

The Playstation was referred to as the PSX long before Sony probably had thoughts of another Playstation, It was it's code name in development.

  • @Draknfyre

    Play Station eXperimental

    :)

  • Is this console region free?

  • @rumbazz I believe it is region free, but I wonder if it also plays back-up game copies.

  • re: "Why do people call the original Playstation the PSX?"

Because that's how Sony themselves often referred to it back when it was their current system. There was no impetus to refer to it as the "Playstation 1" until the Playstation 2 was announced, obviously. Anyway PSX wasn't coined by the fans.

The real question is- Why did Sony think it was a good idea to recycle "PSX" for that PS2/DVR hybrid monstrosity years later?

  • @Druffmaul Yeah, recycling the initialism everyone knows and loves made things a lot more confusing, at least to those who actually knows about the PSX's (PS2/DVR) existence.

  • @Druffmaul wait... you didn't like the ps2?

  • @TrdefTheGamer When I said "monstrosity" I was referring to the PS2/DVR "PSX" that was released in Japan in like 2005 or something. Not the original PS2 from 2000.

  • @Druffmaul Yeh I just realized that after posting :p

  • @Druffmaul nope i always called it the playstation, or ps even back when it was first released, and i have no idea if sony used to call it psx or whatever cuz i didn't reli used to use the internet to look stuff like that up back then cuz obvioulsy internet was painfully slow back then and it was before broadband, but everyone i knew called it the ps1, and i garrentee that ppl have only call it psx are ppl who looked up the history of it's development on wiki...

  • @DaRkLoRd1061 Lots of people referred to as the PSX back then, whether you were aware of it or not. We didn't know it was Sony's internal development code name back then, it was just a nickname seen commonly in gaming magazine articles etc. Not just on the internet.

  • @Druffmaul maybe in america but definately not here in the uk....

  • I remember reading about this in the PSX magazine back in '95. And yes, the first models of the grey Playstation looked exactly identical in the back as the Black Playstation(I know, I had one). It looks like you have the 2nd model(the parrallel port is still on the back, it was removed in the final "Dual Shock" model). I remember back in the day companies didn't release like 5 models of the same system. :-P

  • They also released the grey ps1 with the red, white and yellow connections on the back not just just the net yaroze one. Also at one point because those systems with the rwy connections on were a different model. It used a different laser which at one point a high end audio company were paying thousands for.

  • @IMPREZA91 I had one of those Playstations. Those were the first generation playstations. The second and third generations(models if you want to call them) removed more and more from the back until all you had was the standard Playstation A/V out(the same on the back of the PS2 and PS3), the Serial(the port that lets two Playstations connect), and the power.

  • I have it :D

  • Lol i have a Net Yaroze :D

  • @tito1rocks all your net yaroze are belong to me!

  • Do you know if your net Yaroze games can be put on emulator iso/rom or CD? I really want to know.

  • YES YES AWORI THES FOUR MI ILOVE ANO Y TU CULO TAMBIEN A NO A MAMA GUREEE

  • never knew this existed, i remember getting my ps1 for xmas and playing formula one (1996) all day. miss the 90's man.

  • that balck PSX its really nice, wish to get one.

  • I wanted one of those badly when it came out, but I didn't want to pay $750 for it

  • Not to be rude, but PLEASE get a tripod! i cringed when you dropped the card on the disc, and when you pulled the boot disc out of the system.

  • WISH IT, WANT IT, DO IT!!! :-)

  • @fuck192ass hmmm That's almost like seeing a golden Delorean at a used car dealership. :P

  • ME WANT

  • can you do the same on the ps3?

  • @comedyloverism No... retard.

  • @SwiftHDX Hey. I was just asking. that was very uncalled for.

  • Is this the same as the Men In Black console?

  • got my own one. yesss

  • cool its black

  • i remember the sone games being released monthly through the official playstation magazine and there was a pretty cool zelda type game on the demo that had resident evil 2 back in 97.. it was verry gimmicky looking back on it kind of like game maker. but still its always about the brain behind the gear..

  • @ 1:25 people called it PSX before the PS2 came out. It was published that way in magazines... it was quicker than saying PLAYSTATION all the time. It didn't become the PS1 until the PS2 was available...

  • @tigyi actually it wasn't published that way whatsoever. people unofficially* called it the PSX for some reason like he said. It was always called the Playstation. Also PS1 was the redesign of the original playstation and that came out in 2000.

  • @shadowtsunami ...seems as the other YouTube comments proved your comment wrong. I can only suggest you do a Google image search for "PSX" to further prove yourself wrong.

  • @tigyi no they actually didn't. It was referred to PSX "unofficially" like gamester said for some reason. And I'm also right that PS1 was the redesign of the original Playstation system.

  • @shadowtsunami, never a debate on the ps1 name. Perhaps you are in another country? I had a subscription to "PSX" magazine, I even have a disc from the official "Playstation" Magazine (it was delivered as a demo disc) it not only references PSX in title articles, but in the promo videos too. If I can find a way to get screen shots and scans to you I would. So perhaps we are both right... People DID call it PSX and it IS in classic Magazines. ;)

  • @tigyi you know what I think I'm wrong =O. When you brought up the PSX Magazine it trigger a memory that I remember seeing it at the story. I use to read them a lot in store lol. So maybe it was refer to so unofficially that people never really noticed it.

  • Looks pretty cool, I'd like to get my hands on one of these.

  • Amazing system!

  • $300 just buy a ps3 or an xbox

  • @LadiesMan217507 The ps1 is in games a better system in my opinion

  • most people dont know but the original psx or ps1 is a hifi cd player and one of the best ever, the psx can compete with the best hi fi cd readers.

  • Man what a great system to have. Great shape, too.

  • i want one to develop my own game
