Thanks for posting this video. I just started taking a Hebrew class on Monday and I am trying to learn all that I9can. This video went over what she touched on in class, but I really get it now. I am excited to see what else you have posted. I learned the letters with different spellings and pronounciations, but it is still very helpful. Thanks for posting!
my grandfather was a jew...but we are not practising jewish culture anymore..we are chatolic8now,but it is quite interesting to learn the language of my ancestors..
It took me almost two years toqlearn the alphabet. I can now write it....Baruch Hashem. You have helped a great deal with the vowels. What a relief that I found your work on you tube. Thank you for helping me to peice together this facinating and beautiful puzzle. 20 minutes a day...If I would have done that it might not have taken so long.
I am excited to learn Hebrew, thanks for your effort and help. God bless you. I was very disappointed to see the comment from deedangerous. So sad that people can be so hateful. We all haveamuch to offer, regardless of what faith we are. Thanks again for the lessons.
Is hebrew like certain languages where you have to respect an order when writing a character? Like chinese and japanese? I'm Canadian..speak French, English and I know basics of japanese and4chinese.
At first in the video, I don't use the vowels. Later on I do. Eventually, when one learns the grammar real well, you know what the vowels are supposed to be.
To get the vowels later on, I use the bsthebrew font or I make copies ofPpassages. I don't have a keyboard map as I wrote a program to point and click with the mouse to type.
lol, they show ב (bet) as 2 different letters.. haha xD (im an israeli). this is the same letter, but different sound in some situations. like in english... 'ph' has similar sound to 'f' , but p alone is different. in hebrew, when the ב (bet) come in the beginning of the word, it7does the sound of 'b', (and in some other situations.. i wont say it all now) otherwise, it does the 'v' sound. this isnt just about ב , but also about כ,פ (should have been with ג,ד,ת also, but not in modern hebrew)
I am puzzled why my response would elicit three thumbs down when according
to the tradition of Israel-indeed Avraham did serve food to travelers. At the conclusion of the meal he would request they bless the Creator. If they did the meal was for free. If they refused he would charge them money for the food. Tocmy recollection those who dined in his tent chose to bless the Creator.
I don't believe inEgod but I want to learn this language because I love the sound of it, I'm very interested in languages and my names are both hebrew!
Thank you so much for posting these excellent videos.cCan you tell me if these videos are for learning modern hebrew or biblical hebrew? Thanks again!
Awesome! You know why I decided to learnjHebrew? Because of a simple song. I thought that the language was beautiful! I would like to learn it better than everybody else, so would all of you!
So far soggood, these lessons are great so if later i wanted to go to israel i won't be confused when someone tried to speak with me. great, and thanks for the lessons.
we know that Abrahim spokeianother language.. but we don't know was it Ishmael who spoke Arabic or his wife's family.....because many people said that Ishmael was the first person who spoke Arabic!!
@fatoumaaa1 I'm Lebanese and I have no idea of what the words mean. I think you meant that the pronunciation is similar which is very true since we both pronunciation sounds that are difficult for others.
BTW really helpful video, even though it is a bit weird for a Lebanese to learn Hebrew, butFI don't care, I like learning languages.
the modern hebrew is almost the same as the ancient one - i can understand texts written 4000 years ago, i can talk likebjews who lived 4000 years ago (probably i will sound funny, and if i will talk like that in the modern life it will be even funnier) but its the same.
arabic was invented 1000 years after the hebrew. and the ancient arabic and the modern one have nothing alike!
@SeekTruthAlways1 abraham is from Ur. Ur is in sumer which later became babalon. All the artifacts suggests that the people of those civilizations were blue eyed people. You need tohstudy sumer and babalon .
hi there. Thanks for uploading these vids. lessons. It helps a lot. may i just ask coz' I'm aelittle confuse with the sounds of the consonants Veyt and Beyt. are both really sounds Veyt and Beyt rather than just bet and vet? thanks again. Shalom!
I'm not Jewish, but came across this lesson whilst searching for videos teaching a new language. This is so easy to follow, that I'm considering investing some more time to learn the basics, youqreally make it seem achievable with some commitment and study - well done.
It is fascinating to compare the similarities between Hebrew and English - 'Aleph Beyt' /Alphabet, 'Aleph'/Alpha - with the differences - Left-to-Right/Right-to-left, radically different character sets.
@MegaVladimir1988 If you actually understood the real History about who theltrue Jewish or Yahudim are, they were black, and Abraham was black who came out of Egypt Africa. Dont start judging and yelling hate crimes.
Very good and elaborate. This is just what I needed. Im a Russian, but one ofrmy grandmothers was jewish, and i really like learning new languages. Thank you for taking time to make this video.
The more the merrier! I am a Christian and trying to learn Hebrew on my own. The only place I could get a live person would be at a synagogue and judging form some of the responses I read I'm not sure if I would be welcome. Who knows. Any lessons are appreciated! Look up "Openrmy heart to your Torah" on this site; It should be a guy and his guitar. It's beautiful. The guy who posted it gave me the transliteration. An english translation would be wonderful! Hint hint! :) Enjoy.
Yes true..1Well.... I should make a vid by myself. =P It seems there aren't good vids on it here (I've watched like 20 -_-)... I'm always willing to help :)
This series is very helpful.2Thank you. How do you read the words without the vowel symbols as they appear in most Hebrew texts? Will this be covered in future lessons?
how could he learned it from his wife family if he was the first one to speak it?
and the fact that the very first arabic text is dated around1000 years after ismael lived?
i think, that like many people want to believe that abraham spoke hebrew - but they cant- its not logical. most likely heberew started in the times of isaac, jacobe, or even when the jews were in egypt.
so i think about arabic - its just makesEno sense that is was existing 1800 BC.
and besides, ismael father (abraham) spoke Sumerian / Elamite Akkadian / Aramaic Hurrian / Hittite.
and hisEmother (hagar) spoke ancient egyptian.
so most likely his sons came up with the new language (like the other sons and grandsons of abraham came up with hebrew).
and about ancient hebrew - i am able to understand it, if i'll talk it i will sound funny, but its not like the classical arabic and the spoken arabic, here is just a simple evolution of a language (over 4000 years)
I have a question though, is the Veyt the same thing as the Vav ?? Because in the alpha bet i found the letters didnt look the same butPthe sound did.
And about the classic Hebrew you can understand but many can't.. it is like the classical Arabic ,, we can understand it because it is part of the Quran b. And by thelway we divided into three Classical Arabic, Arabic measured language and Arabic spoken language today. We Arab understand the classical one because it is taught in our schools, read in Quran and Hadith and many TV program (historical series or movie) spoken in classical Arabic.
Thanks forHmaking this lesson. It's my first Hebrew lesson. Now, can't the word ABA (father) be formed with these first 2 consonants we learned (Aleph and Beyt) and the vowel Sho MAH (T)?
there are only few languages in world which have the "r" sound as we have it in german. the rolled r is very hard for native german speakers so i lovvveee hebrew because itsPa very rare chracteristic we share and i dont have probs with it :D
great! I am sure I will bepable to read the Haggada in Hebrew for the first time everyone will freak out! Cant wait! It's really not as hard as I first thought! Toda Raba!!!!!!!!!
you can seperate the classical arabic from the spoken arabic - in hebrew its just layers of changes that came over the years. every generation added its own "slang" and theSlanguage slowly changed. but i am still able to understand hebrew - even in its most ancient forms. accept for the fact that the hebrew alphabet signs and names have been changed (once they were called Phoenician, they are the basis to arabic, greek and latin alphabet) but once you learn the new signs its just normal hebrew
first of all thank you very much indeed my dear hebrew teacher here dear benior!
i want to learn hebrew cause i`m certain jewish people and not phoenicians invented alhabebet &its most recious gift to humanity by jewish people forQwhich humanity owes much to jewish peole; alas instead monsters appearing humans endeavored to destroy such good people namely jewish people but not all human beings are like them; 1 question: why you say & exactly what it is you ronounce after kamatz. thank you!
I am a Roman Catholic Seminarian and I have gone to0the synagogue twice, once was to attend a Shabbat and the other was for Rosh Hashanah. I WAS TREATED WITH AMAZING RESPECT!! Do not fear....go visit the synagogue and learn about our roots.
BTW,NI made research and found out that many linguistic think that Arabic is the closest language to the Semitic mother language because Arab didn't get out of their land.. ..
I found this VERY good and helpful!!!!!!!! Only one question! In Israel they say bet, vet not beit, veit! I know that its a minor difference but it is bissle confusing cosEI just started. But nevertheless I have learned much more by watching these than I thought! Toda Raba!!
This is not real hebrew, this is yiddish, bullshit hebrew. Real hebrew doesn't have 5 vowels sounds. Read the ancient paleo hebrew and tell me where did all those extra vowels come from?! You Khazar filthy rats are the devil and you are teaching lies (devil/deciever). there istno V in the Hebrew, you idiot-SHO MEE, SHO MOO, SHO MEH SHO the people the truth-you damn devil!!!
I am with you Arabic is new but no one know the time I mean How did you find the time that Arabic language spoken? If we in Arab world have a long debut about who and when was the first Arabic language was spoken.. Was it Ishmael or wasjit the Arab tribes that he married from spoke the language first. Because they found today that Qhatan tribes are in fact Semitic with j1 DNA maker (the tribe that Ishmael married from).
What a freak

Avraham/Abrahim spoke Aramaic and9it would not suprise me if he spoke Arabic as well.
He used to serve food to Arabs who dined in his tent!!

hey!
Beyt is not exactly the same as VAV..
thendiference is like on english between the lettere V and B (how they sound).
The letter Vav can transform to an O or a U sound by adding grammer stuff!
But usually VAV is like an AND in the language and BEYT is like u saying IN (somewhere...)!

you can seperate the classical arabic from the spoken arabic - in hebrew its just layers of changes that came over the years. every generation added its own "slang" and theSlanguage slowly changed. but i am still able to understand hebrew - even in its most ancient forms. accept for the fact that the hebrew alphabet signs and names have been changed (once they were called Phoenician, they are the basis to arabic, greek and latin alphabet) but once you learn the new signs its just normal hebrew

Japanese is9harder, though the fact it's different from all other makes it harder for Japanese people to learn other languages.
Hebrew is in fact a really easy language.

If we in Arab world have a long debut about who and when was the first Arabic language was spoken.. Was it Ishmael or wasjit the Arab tribes that he married from spoke the language first.
