  • good camera but the fencing is far from be creative ;( but in total it`s "watchable"

  • @thevitigo

Yep. We never had any formal training. Thanks for "watching".

  • @thayr knowing that it`s even better ;p...don`t hesitate and have a look on our video and let me know ur opinion thx

  • Was this filmed in the Paul Green in Williamsburg? Are you based there?

  • @jarjoneslmk

This was filmed in Chapel Hill N.C.

  • I wold like to see those two in real duel :P I wonder who will survive :P I think they are not really professional team for martial arts specially swordplay :( sorry guys i am historical fencer ... this doesn't look like a duel :(

  • @DeLaMol

I'll reiterate: This was shot in only a few hours and we had very limited knowledge of sword work, foot work, etc... As for being "not really professional", our Reel Kick 2010 reel seems pretty professional to me!

  • Great, fast-paced movie swordfight, be proud of yourselves!

Ignore darkcolmar and comments... William Wilson's "Arte of Defense" is just about as far away as you can possibly get from rapier combat. Of the 20+ books and manuscripts on historical rapier combat that I have, Wilson's book is the one that sits gathering the most dust.

  • Orra ficou muito loco

  • Epic b-twist at 1:29 :)

  • their footing wasn't even close to correct either, but this is meant strictly for simple entertainment. if you have a complaint i suggest that you message the creator of the film.

  • @darkcolmar As the creator and one of the performers in this short I agree that we need to learn and practise the art of sword fighting! This was shot in only a few hours and we had very limited knowledge of sword work, foot work, etc... Hopefully any future sword shorts will be a little more true to the art!

  • it was certainly entertaining. I would suggest looking at "Arte of Defence" by William Wilson. It will help a lot.

I apologize for my abrasive post. I was over enthusiastic with historical fencing at the time.

As I said, very entertaining and that is indeed the entire point.

  • @darkcolmar I'm sorry, and how's YOUR butterfly twist?? Or how you "professinally" refered to it as "that spin/flip thingy", I swear if I had a nickel for every sword geek who comes out of the woodwork to armchair quarterback someone else's creativity, I'd finance the next Pirates of the Caribbean film myself! Hey, how 'bout you go grab a camera and let's see if YOU can do better? Knowing archaic texts is fine, but only as a place to start FROM. Books don't equal creativity.

  • @darkcolmar

I'm a modern sport fencer. As entertainment, this is a far cry better than the average swordsmanship. My advice to the makers is this: From my perspective, less is more in blocking swordfights. Look at the difference between pirates of the carribbean (clang clink jump and nobody's ever gonna get stabbed) as opposed to the end of Rob Roy or the Duellists (careful consideration, economy of motion, etc). People who have experience with swordplay appreciate the latter much more

  • woooooooooooaw

  • the one in the white shirt is my cousin

  • awesome. I wouldnt be surprised if these guys got their eyes popped out. Me and my friend fenced with metal poles and i copped it under the eye. Blackeye.

  • wild fight, good fighters, hot boots! wish i see him gettin stabbed!
