  • Hey:

    Re cap not going off

I run into this a fair bit, I've found that its the general fit of the nipple to the cap. Not sure why, but most mass produced caps just wont fit on many nipples without some minor fine tuning.

My solution is to take a tiny bit (& I do mean tiny) of material off the outer surface of the nipple with a fine dremil grinding wheel.

Try it on a spare nipple and see if it helps.

Fine emery paper works too (its harder) if the dremil seems just 'too much'.

  • @trainguy1218 I'll have to double check, but I think I've tried two different sizes of caps in the past, (#s 10 and 11 I believe) and neither of them worked, regardless of the fit. But thanks for the suggestion, I'll take another look.

  • I just built on of these....do you have to manually reseat the trigger after each shot? Its hard to tell from the video.

  • @jachildress26 Yes I do have to manually reset the trigger on mine. Do you on yours?

  • @jachildress26 I just built one of these myself. The triggers are designed to reset on their own. But to make it work properly I had to to play around with it a bit. From my experience two things can prevent it from reset on it's own. On mine the pin hole on the trigger itself was way to tight and wasn't allowing the trigger to move easily on the pin to fix it I reamed it out back and forth a bit with a drill bit about the same size as the original hole.

  • @jachildress26 After I fixed that It was still getting stuck, this time it was the walls and back end of the trigger hole on the frame. Just widen it a hair and round out the corners and that should take care of it. Hope that helps.

  • That kit has gotten terrible reviews.

For the price of one today you might as well just save your money and buy a reproduction.

  • I don't think the hammer is going up enough. Mine goes up much higher and it is a bear to pull the trigger

  • @gravylegs1 not sure how I could change that

  • @gomofast I am not to sure either sorry. The trigger pull is so heavy that it is potentially dangerous. So mine is pretty much a display piece. though it would be nice to try it once.

  • the cap may not be pressed down far enough if it takes more than one strike

  • @tikiman25 The cap is seated properly, but it won't fire no matter how many times the hammer strikes it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
