  • What ever happened to Linda Ronstadt?

  • When I was a young'un she was one of my fantasy chicks, along with that other fox Rickie Lee Jones. Loved 'em both, love 'em still.

  • Sorry, but Andrew Gold made this song. Taking nothing away from Ronstadt's talents, but Gold's guitar licks put this song over the top.

  • Andrew Gold playing lead guiter he could play just about any kind of instrument he just died not to long ago

  • hello

  • Thanks Linda and author of video. Russia.

  • What we need is more cowbell!!! Linda Ronstadt and Juice Newton two of the best female voices ever....no recognition at all...except from us.

  • Linda ronstadt, pat benatar, Tina Turner. Greatest female singers of all time. Madonna, not even in the top 100.

  • Beautiful woman..so pretty,,

  • Back when singers used to sing.

  • Singers and musicians today try too hard. These guys just put it out there and the great music speaks for itself.

  • What an awesome talent. She just got up on stage and sang. No choregraphy, no backup dancers. Linda Ronstadt has more talent than any pop singer of the past 20 years. And she was much better looking.

  • Kc5cxu- Linda is half Mexican and half German with true authentic South-western roots from Arizona and New Mexico. Many people from these states have that mixture in them. She's awesome!

  • I never knew she was hispanic she sings like a white girl.

  • Ann Wilson still rules.

  • @Satonica...so damn true...Linda defined the 70`s music scene...and thrived into 2000 plus!!!

  • bass player was high on coke and f-ed the set. listan to the original LP and watch this again- everyone had to compensate- especially the guitar player- it is when the song breaks in the middle

  • It was the great Andrew Gold and he passed away few days ago. Ironic.

  • That was LInda Ronstadt letting you that you are no good!

  • Is that Andrew Gold on strat/backing vocals? And why am I still in love with her even though she must be 180 years by now?? Her voice....awesome.

  • ayeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee muy picoso

  • I DO miss those days! WOW!!

  • Brilliant performance , great band too , Linda looking and sounding superb

  • Great version. Linda and he band kicked ass. Why can't there be a singer like that now

  • for gods sake, listen 2 that voice, it blows other chicks straight outta the water, its dirty, and nasty, and soo full of soul. simply amazing!

  • Linda is an icon. She's done opera and stage, country and to top it all off, she's damn beautiful. I have loved her since the early seventies. That green eyed monster really gets to shallow minded people.

  • Man this girl is good....

  • There is always 1 idiot that doesn't like something!!!

  • Waddt Wachtel on the les paul. who's playing the strat?

  • @j1215hurd I think that's Andrew Gold on stratocaster.

  • What a way to make a living, Fuck that btch, what ever

  • and to think she was really fat in high school...

  • Damn, what a GREAT version! Many blessings upon you for sharing this treasure! If she'd only 've walked naked down a street, dressed like an mtv tramp ala laday gagme, think of how far she could've gone!

Right on, just way too good...

    Thanks again, Peace!

  • Man what a sexy woman...

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!

  • LINDA rocked this ! this tour rocked , the LP too ! wow , MEMORIES --I went with my best friend and her MOM ! ha!

  • Hot. Hot. Hot. And damn straight, she needs to be in the RRHOF, along with Heart...those girls knocked down the doors for female leads in rock and roll in the 70's!!

  • She look hot in this show

  • I remember how proud so many of us from the south western US were of Linda, the Mexican aka Latina famous for rock and roll. She's from Arizona and I am from NM, and about the same age as Linda, a little younger LoL!

  • @Satonica she was great in the opera pirates of penzan.

  • @SuperBnichols Absolutely!! That is classic.

  • @Satonica, however, she was never billed that way, but much did change in the late 80s when she did the "Canciones" album. Nevertheless, she did provide samples of her talent for Spanish-language songs much earlier. I am sure you knew that, but I find other Linda fans who did not.

  • @sandinyourshoes Well, when she played here locally she actually was billed as a top vocalist of both English & Spanish language, and that billing afforded her a brand new following, that of our,a large amount of the Hispanics. We are very proud of her. It is very difficult to get that kind of recognitiontion in the US because the Spanish spoken here goes largly unknown in other countries except south America. Larga vida a la bella Linda Ronstadt!

  • @Satonica, it is good she had some billing in that respect, but it took a long time to really be launched. Otherwise, she was marketed being very BRITANNIC (or just English-singing, especially with the country/country-rock audiences a la Stone Ponies. Spanish would not sell that so well.)

  • Not only Linda Ronstadt is out of RRHOF, Neil Sedaka too. I hope soon they will be inductes in this place.

  • YOU BETCHA...

  • Great stuff. If you like this you'll like the DVD "Johnny Cash - A Concert Behind Prison Walls (1976)". There's more than one "Behind Prison Walls" DVD so be careful to get the one with Linda Ronstadt. She sings 5 numbers, sounding (and looking) great.

  • Greatest female vocalist in 40 years

  • Linda was at her BEST at this German concert. Waddy, Andrew Gold, tight jeans, bare shoulders, flower in her hair. Great voice. Wow.

  • Shes attractive

  • @thatsoccerplayer That is like saying that Sex is kinda fun!

  • There is no way she should not be in the hall of fame!!! I just wish she would put out a new CD in this genre!!! Ican remember staying up on a friday night waiting to see Linda on the Midnight Special !!!

  • @MrRedmac25 Even Heart has not made it in, so maybe there's a problem admitting women in the 70's rock....but of course, Grandmaster Flash made it?????

  • @mzzh

Grandmaster Flash? Lordy. What a joke. Never even listened to that man.

    -H-

  • This girl is so damn pretty...

  • DAMN GOOD!!

  • She's a legend.

  • Awsom lady,,,,,awsom artist......

  • Go Andrew!! Major talent. Major!!!

  • Man those were the good times....what a girl

  • Tone Loc is in the hall of fame and she isn't?? what an injustice. i have always loved her music. i still play her greatest hits album at least once per week. my kids even know all of the words. :-)

  • @bionicwoman1980 She's in the 'Hall of Fame'.... just not the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. She's way too talented for their ridiculous criteria! Being the #1 Female Act of the '70s is good enough for me to know. Everything she touches goes Gold, no matter the Genre. Platinum and Multi-Platnum is second nature to someone with her God-Given Talent.

They put ABBA in there and not L/R? ...whatever!

She's #1 no matter what they refuse to acknowledge.

    It's their Loss!

  • @NoGoodChump Actually, Olivia Newton-John was the top female act of the 70's. Olivia was followed by Helen Reddy, Diana Ross, and Donna Summer. But, I forgive your error, as I love me some Linda too.

  • @jchristiansen07

    That's funny...

    You are making a 'funny' aren't you? .... . . .. .

Olivia Newton-John and Donna Summer I can buy into, but Diana Ross and especially Helen Reddy, I'd have to dig deep to agree with you on.

I think Olivia and Donna were a little late on the scene for any comparison to Linda Ronstadt.

    Crossing-over into Hollywood ain't what it's cracked-up to be...

No error made ► No reason to forgive...

  • @jchristiansen07 actually, you're wrong. newton-john was the most successful female in terms of SINGLES! where as ms ronstadt sold the most ALBUMS than any other female performer. typically anywhere from 2 to 4 million copies, while newton-john's merely achieved gold status. ms ronstadt was also the biggest female concert draw of her day as well! just posting the facts, my friend! when it comes to my beautiful desert rose, i have to tell it like it is!

  • A great version of a great song and done on my 11th birthday! God, i'm feeling old!

  • God, the fact that she and many other deserving musicians arfe not in teh R&R hall of fame is just a great example of don't get caught up in what is told to us to be good and or worthy, she is the most rocking chic in Rock and roll, along with Ann Wilson From HEART.. try to think of ONE female today that has pipes like her ok, maybe Christine Agulara.. and i do not like her music but she can sing, she I steh voice of her generation.

  • @GodStarRevisited69 - she should have sucked more dick when she was skinny and hot, now she's just fat and stupid.

  • @troll9555 you are stupid, to say a thing like that. I guess you are just making up the hits day after day.

some people have way too much time on thier hands, and i guess you are a real looker your self, huh? note to self:Block this user, done.

  • Cool

  • is andrew gold still alive

  • Can anyone let me know if I can pass this film to my Chinese audiance? They have missed a lot.

  • go ahead, and tell them I said hi!

  • The absolute best. Brings back an amazing time in music. Love it.

It is an absolute travesty she's not in the RR hall of F . Ditto for her recording and stage musicians.

  • God it's wierd to think that there is a whole generation who wonders who Linda Ronstadt is! She helped to pave the way for women in rock n roll, she's not just a "Mexican chick," although she WAS very hot back then, and she defined what women could achieve for my whole generation. She was also not afraid to be political, controversial, and human.

  • @pamelala95

It's funny what you're saying. In my generation, 70's to 80's, absolutely everyone knew who Linda Ronstadt was, but never in a million years would we have thought of her as a "Mexican chick". I remember I was very surprised when she came out with an album some time in the mid-to-late 80's of Mexican "ranchera" music. I would have never guessed that she had any Mexican heritage. Times have changed.

  • Hot looking mexican chick...who is she?

  • If Linda Ronstadt is what happens when Germans and Mexicans get together, we need more of it.

  • @gonzoidal we need more stupid people?

  • damn

  • What else can you say but Fantastic 5*

  • Brilliant , great vocals , great band, great song !!!

  • great song!!!! love it and she has the vocals down pat!!!

    great video

    hugs

    dar

  • WOW this chick is cool..how good is her voice..this is live..Hey and she is cute..cute cute cute..what a honey...

  • Awesome. What a spunky little powerhouse!

  • Great song/great singer/great post

  • Linda est la creme de la creme!!

  • She's not in the Rock n' Roll Hall? They should close that thing down and padlock the doors.

  • Rock Hall of Shame is what it is.

  • I reckon, no Heart, no Linda, No Stevie (solo), no Runaways, No Pat... yet we'll induct random crappy nineties bands....

  • @roquey44

    THANK YOU!!!!

    I agree 1000%

  • @roquey44 Alice Cooper isn't in the Hall of Shame i mean Fame either. Johnny Rotten was right it is a piss stain.

  • @roquey44

I think I could answer why she hasn't been voted in yet. Unlike her seventies comrades, critics look at her as nothing but singer while The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Carole King, James Taylor, etc. etc. wrote their own tunes. And also they would remembered her for her pop records from the late eighties. Linda is very talented but if she stuck with rock, I think she would had been in there sooner.

  • @roquey44 Amen! The R&R Hall of Fame has failed to induct some of the greatest musical artists the world has EVER known, thereby forfeiting ANY claim to credibility or musical appreciation. At this point they have become noting than a sideline joke,

  • @Satonica, that is true, and so I just ignore it. We fans know already which artists will stand head and shoulders above others.

  • @Satonica Wenner has endured quite a bit of controversy during his career, as it relates to his involvement in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Fans and supporters of several artists, which include Chicago, Deep Purple, KISS, The Monkees, Electric Light Orchestra, Yes, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Motörhead, Jethro Tull, Linda Ronstadt, ELP, The Guess Who, Bachman–Turner Overdrive and The Moody Blues, have placed a large amount of blame on Wenner for keeping them out of the Hall of Fame.

  • @carlafierro7 Hall of Fame is a sham even though my 2nd favorite band (Allman Bros) got in on 2nd crack in '95. Then again they took Cameron Crowe on the road in early 70's so there is that connection. All bands u listed were mega sellers yet we get to see The Beastie Boys inducted this March. Goes to show if you don't play nice with Jann you don't get into his club!

  • @Satonica You mean the Rock n Roll Hall of Shame!!!

  • @roquey44 Yea the R&R HOF is irrelevant - it's not based on legitimate accomplishments but the tastes of a clique of critics who are out of touch with real music and prefer to wallow in tiny subcultures. Many of.the most popular and best selling recording artists in music history are excluded, and the #2 American Band of all time in record sales (Journey) nor Linda will get in because the President of the Rock Hall of Fame doesn't like either of them. He has issues with great vocals.

  • @Zedul The Rolling Stone Magazine, that POS rag, largely launched Linda Ronstadt's comeback with a feature article on her with some sexy photographs around '76. I think they said she was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I don't take their opinion for anything. They are a bunch of pompous jack axes.

  • @roquey44 burn it down. and blast the ashes into deep space....

  • @roquey44 LMAO! I couldn't have said it myself. Jann Wenner's a Santorum.

  • More Cowbell!!! :-)

  • Thanks for posting, I saw this concert aired from German Television, here from Denmark in the Summer 1977, the summer I was 18 and got my driving license, exellent concert as always from the Rockpalast Team

  • Excellent version of this song.Thanx for posting.

  • There's a few very good live versions....although you're right, this one is top notch.

  • Love it..Fantastic..

  • Far and away the best live version I've found on the web! Stayed true the the original while going off a bit!

    Thanks for sharing!
