To all the guys writing in here who were in Korea in the '80s~ yeah, I was there in the Army 1985-1987... I had a gf ... she had this on a cassette... I could not remember the "group" who did it, and no earlier searches ever found it ~~ "Joy" Right! I remember now.
"Tapper45" -- yeah, I remember the names of some of those clubs... they were always coming and going, ..Elysium Joy... I and a friend used to have a relationship with the DJs there--
I used to love this song when I was living in Kunsan. My girlfriend told me then it was by Danny White, so obviously I could never find it. Glad to finally hear it again and think about old times in the most awesome country with the most beautiful girls!!
HA HA! This brings me back to1988 when I was a 19 year old soldier stationed just north of Seoul. I would spend practically every night that I wasn't out in the field in some night club dancing to this song, Touch By Touch, and Hello.Funny that I had to go to Asia to learn "THE JOY' of Euro-pop. Lol That was a very special time in my life, and i'm grateful to the Korean people for helping me become a lot more worldly by showing me that it's not all about the good ole' U.S.of A.
@SYNTHAX1 -- now you experienced firsthand what BIG IN JAPAN meant back then )) Asians loved Hi-NRG (aka EuroDisco) and I believe still do. Ditto E.Europe and Russia.
@Papasik Oh, that must be why they made this version. Makes sense. Kinda sad (that they have to change lyrics in a song to stay alive), but it makes sense.
I believe the Austrailian band "Joy" recorded multiple versions of this song. "Korean Girls" / "Japanese Girls" / "Chinese Girls" / "Vietnamese Girls" etc.
Still, I was stationed at Kwang Ju AB, ROK in 87-88 and this song was a major hit at the time.
시간이 흘러도 여전히 좋은노래..

help with a song!! Refrain line was something like " DJ girl in a man's world, she's a .. DJ girl!"
This was another girl-bar song circa 1986, but it sounds older...

If I'm not mistaken, "Japanese Girls" was the original, followed by "Chinese Girls" and then "Korean Girls" right?
jtcent 1 year ago
@jtcent -- pretty much like it, you cannot tour in korea or china praising japanese girls, you won't make it out alive
