The car the cop is chasing is an 87 or 88 Chrysler Fifth Avenue. Those cars came from the factory with a 318 V-8. (5.2 liter) Considering how the crook literally pulled away from the cop, the crook probably dropped a souped up 360 V-8 (5.9 Liter) into that Fifth Avenue.

Also, Ford Motor Company no longer makes the Crown Victoria and stopped producing it in August 2011.

I know without a doubt that pissed the trooper off even more to know the suspect vehicle head a big lead after the trooper having to slow down. At least now, Ford made a new Ford Taurus Police Interceptor which is much better. There are now fuel efficient V6s that make over 300 HP, better suspension and brakes were put on, and a new design makes the cars look much nicer.

He's not chasing with a crown vic it's a dodge charger at 5:43 you can hear the officer in the suv saying he got the charger behind him and the officer in the charger says he'll pass the police suv on the drivers side since the charger is obviously faster. Seems at around 3:07 was when the trooper may have had his best chance to take out the perp's vehicle even with the debris thrown onto the road. I'm just happy nobody was injured.
That is one fine driver in that State Trooper , well done. Yes the car was an old FORD Falcon I think. The Crown Vic V8 was running wide open in parts. Its great to see the bad guys eventually got the chop so to speak. 5/5

@AleksandrsLV Agreed. The problems with the Crown Vics were the way outdated V8s, horrible suspensions, outdated design, and probably even bad brakes. At least now, Ford made a new Ford Taurus Police Interceptor which is much better. There are now fuel efficient V6s that make over 300 HP, better suspension and brakes were put on, and a new design makes the cars look much nicer.

With technology the way it is progressing in law enforcement, chases like this will no longer exist. A lot of car manufacturers are thinking about installing a computer chip that will shut the engine off in police pursuits in the future. The officer can remotely cut the engine off.

With all the crooked cops out there do you really think people will take a chance buying a car that ANY cop can disable for his own reasons?. NOT. Have you ever been stopped for no reason?. He's not chasing with a crown vic it's a dodge charger at 5:43 you can hear the officer in the suv saying he got the charger behind him and the officer in the charger says he'll pass the police suv on the drivers side since the charger is obviously faster. Im a big fan of the p71 myself I owned my own private one until I got just a little out of control and totaled the shit out of it and fucked myself up. By the way im a trained police officer and do notcondone anyone doing what I did.

@djrhogan Then you obviously dont know anything about cars. The curb weight of a Diplomat police interceptor was 5200 lbs i know i owned one and took it across the scale. The fifth Avenue and se versions of the Diplomat and Gran Fury weighed more because of the options they came with from the factory. So tell me why a 185hp 318 smoked the 235hp Crown Vic? Oh wait a minute thats right its a FORD. Outweighed and less HP and it still smoked that pigmobile!

@notanova your an idiot, first off they have 250 horsepower and the Crown Victoria hardly got smoked, he was up the suspects ass several times. The Vic had no problem keeping up. You need to stop dreaming man, a CVPI is far from slow. Up against some old beat ass car with a tired engine haha , yea right. The only times the suspect got distance was when the officer let him.

Seems at around 3:07 was when the trooper may have had his best chance to take out the perp's vehicle even with the debris thrown onto the road. I'm just happy nobody was injured.

That is one fine driver in that State Trooper , well done. Yes the car was an old FORD Falcon I think. The Crown Vic V8 was running wide open in parts. Its great to see the bad guys eventually got the chop so to speak. 5/5

@yankeeclipper2 the suspect is in some old mopar, looks to be possible a K-car (Dodge Dynasty?), nothing more than a 100 horse 4 cylinder probably, a V6 on a good day. And the only reason he "got the cops" was because of the intersections, the crazy ass suspect just barrels through, but the cop slows down for his and civilian safety.

@moparmaniac21 based on your name you should be able to tell that that was not a k-car it is clearly a Diplomat/Gran Fury/5TH Avenue, smallest it woulda had would be a slant six and a 1 bbl slant produces almost as much torque as a crown vic, most likely though it was a 318 2 bbl.

Everything after he lost the guy at around 4:00 appears to be reckless driving. If there were an agency there that actually enforced the law rather than blindly heir own, the maniac behind the wheel (of the vehicle with the camera) would have been so charged.
But because the prosecutor inherently needs to work with the police in the majority of their cases, they throw their ethics out the window and idiots like this cop walk free, to later kill someone in a needless traffic accident.
