@hillgilly88 This has nothing to do with money, but effort. Effort does not equal money and some of those YouTube tutorials are very nice. Not always do they ship DVDs worldwide, you know.
it depends on where you perform, how many tourists come by, and how rare magic is in that area. you can do it kinda like a dayjob in the subway and get $15 to $20 bucks an hour. you can opt for prime tourist hours like weekends in the summer and get $75 an hour. but then you can do it like gazzo (please youtube his cups and balls), and do 3 to 4 half hour shows--he never makes less than $175 a show. depends on how big/frequentyou want your show, where you are, and of course you can't suck.
when u say shows do u mean u hv a legit space to perform n a legit audience or u mean u travel around n show ppl magic where u can get pl ? i learnt the 10 hand poker deal that is so awesome to make ppl bet N Lose lol
i paid a yearly fee and performed in the same spot everyday for 7-9 months of the year depending on the weather. this space was shared with other performers in rotation and we had to gather are own crowds.
i used to live in vancouver,i grew up in hamilton ont. and live there now.hamilton sucks for busking so i have been looking for a good spot in toronto myself. i auditioned for habourfront last year but was not excepted. i hear lawerance market or kensington might be good. i tried outside the toronto island ferry once and it wasn't too bad. there is an organization called zero gravity circus in toronto that is run by friends of mine from vancouver who help out and book buskers, check them out.
oh cool. im not sure if i want to book a spot liek that coz i live in mississauga but it will be fun to do tricks on people especially when u know they r gona lose lol. i kinda feel bad tho lol darn it im too nice lol no future for a con artist ha
that's actually a technique that was taught to me by my mentor who learned it from the one and only Gazzo (we're all street performers). it works REALLY well on the streets because you let the audience bottle up all that excitement and express it in other forms...or in an uproarious final clap--e.g., BILL MA-LONE BILL MA-LONE. and on the streets it translates to more dollars. of course you have to do it so the audience isn't offended. just my two cents...
@canadiandaniel He Does that for fun..to make them laugh..its like a joke.. sometimes he'd even say "Sir..please!..settle down..its just a card trick" lol.. or "Sir..please .....Im Married"
