Hi.

I can't decide between this one and the other hardcover box set that is almost half this the price of this. I would like to know, is the paper clear white or is it dark? I bought a Lord of the Rings deluxe edition book, and the quality of the paper was so freakin' fantastic and the cover is so hard.

@Tuneboy82 I too have read the special edition Tolkien books! I have just looked at both my standard Harry Potter books and the special edition ones, the quality of the special edition's paper is alot better quality than the standard edition. The pages are thicker, whiter and are gold gilt. I hope that helps ;)

@GoofyGryffindor Thank you, it helps a lot. Although I'm not buying them too have as an investment but rather read, I do like to have an excellent quality of a book(s) that I really love. If the quality is anything like the LOTR 50th Annivercary deluxe edition, then I'd be very pleased. I'll be buying it soon, thank you, this was exactly the answer I needed. Some people on amazon ramble on too much sometimes. One person said that the cover feels like glued on, but doesn't seem like it.

@GoofyGryffindor Got it yesterday. Looks really beautiful, colors and all, very good hardcover. I understand what the guy ment by "glued on cover", but it's actually very nice. Gold lettering is epic.. However, I'm kinda disappointing by the quality of the the paper. The LOTR deluxe which is pure white, this one is shady. When I read the LOTR book, I can spread the pages in half, and they will lay there, because they are heavy enough to spread to hold it, and they won't rip.

@GoofyGryffindor The HP books however, if I spread them apart and they go into the middle by themselves so I have to hold them down. No big deal, but would have expected better. While it's sown together, there are some places where it seems glued, rather odd. The gold at the side is nice, but when I noticed it was on my finger I was like "ooooh, better not touch the LOTR books with this".

But I'm happy, it's the best quality out there. I hope they'll release a a pure white one some day.

Still a great book though, but my favourite,s gotta be either goblet of fire or deathly hallows. what a genius Rowling is!

@GoofyGryffindor I have the same books. I didn't buy them as a set. I started buying them when the first 4 books were out. I wanted english versions of the books. The first 5 I've actually read and I bought books 5,6,7 as soon as they came out. The last two books (of this set) I haven't read because I too have them as collectibles. I bought the Adult paperback set to read the books in english :). I love this set, they look so sophisticated on my bookshelf. Completely worth the money.
