  • TheHappyBallerina 14 Years Old.

  • Cannot believe no one removed the board from under the beam! Scary! But GORGEOUS routine!

  • she fit 3 back layouts in one pass! incredible

  • God! I remember watching this as it happened. Freaked out with awe when she mounted that beam! Amazing routine!! That olympics was SOOO great to watch!

  • how old was she??

  • I love her mount!

  • most gynastics focus on tiny extremely petite girls. most quit compeating before their 20's although many colleges now have teams which hold competitions. i think it has something to do with the loss of flexibility as we get out of our teens. even with regular exercise and stretching, there is a certain degree of loss and the constant practicing and competition takes it's toll as well

  • she looks like 10 is this normal

  • @ic069 sure, why not? she had a gymnast body, small and muscular, and baby face..... I've always looked younger too and I'm not even a gymnast ;)

  • @ic069 each body is built differently..... it doesn't matter here. just look at her skills, she was wonderful, so graceful!!! I love the 90s style, much prettier than nowadays!

  • @ic069 Out with injuries. Beth Tweddle and Oksana Chusovitina are still winning medals and they're both much older than the average gymnast

  • Coolest mount ever!!

  • it's so amazing!

  • what was the score also how old is she here anyone know?

  • @ACL7211 I am not sure about the score but she was 14 years old during the '96 Olympics.

  • @ACL7211 Score was 9.850 and she was fourteen.

  • How did this not receive a 10.0?!

  • AMAZING! I wish I could do that. She didn't wobble at all, and she stuck her dismount. That just blows me away! =O

  • lol bella is like that little voice in your head telling you what to do

  • They just don't do beam routines like this anymore ....

  • I really miss the pretty hand movements on beam. They really add so much.

  • what was her score?

  • @cocogymnist27 9.850

  • how old is she now ??

  • @MyKristenStewart She's in her late 20s.....27 or 28, I think.

  • I think she should've got a 10.0 and she was 14 and I am a gymnast so u can ask me any ?s

  • SHe is REALLY good !!!!

  • Does anyone know what her score was, on this routine?

In any case, it was absolutely fantastic!

  • she is awesome and you can see the muscles in her legs!

  • bela cracks me up. lol.

  • ahah i love how at 0:58 the commentator goes "gawjuss!"

  • @carolinaaohh that's not the commentator, that's her coach, bela karolyi.

  • @bbhouk1 9.850

  • @LBoogie101984 THANKS!!!

  • I LOVE BELLA! Hahhaha!

  • Wow, I keep going back to the beginning of the four-combo move, and it just amazes me more and more each time I watch it. She is amazing!

  • @GymFloozie, IDK, I'm pretty sure Valeri Liukin is giving him a run for his money. 2 AA Olympic Champs in a row, soon to be followed by Rebecca Bross!

  • Comment removed

  • @slkbeambabe07 rebecca bross is yuck! and valeri wasn't carly's coach!!!!

  • @GosfordAbercrombie Actually, Carly trained at WOGA - the Liukin's gym - with Nastia and Valeri. She had a different personal coach, but being at the same gym makes her a WOGA girl, and therefore a student of Valeri's.

  • @laughandlove2 yeah but being at the same gym doesn't mean she was nurtured by Liukin day in and day out!!!!

  • @GosfordAbercrombie No, you're right - and I didn't say that at all. I was just trying to explain why the other user would connect her with Nastia and Rebecca. Veleri might not have had much to do with Carly, but she and Nastia grew up being really good friends and it was special to them to win back to back Olympics representing WOGA. Of course, though, it was Carly's actual coach who had the biggest influence on her and her gymnastics. I know that.

  • I LOVE BELA KAROYLI!!!

  • Abuse allegations aside, Bela was the greatest coach gymnastics has ever known.

  • what score did she get here

  • perfect 10

  • Oh my gosh she is the cutest thing! Bela is so funny lol.

  • I agree her mount is my all time favorite!!

  • Did she medal on this event? I can't remember. I'm assuming yes. She is so awesome to watch!!! Amazing gymnast. :)

  • No, she didn't medal on this event... this routine was amazing, but it was for the Team FInal. She did qualify for Event Finals on beam, but unfortunately had a scary fall on her first pass that took her out of medal contention. Really a shame, since I love her!

  • Thanks!! I forgot about that fall on beam. It WAS scary as I just found it on YouTube and watched it. I remember watching it "live" back in '96 and was amazed at how she kept on going and managed to finish her routine. So much guts and courage. She's great. :)

  • the music that starts playing around the middle matches her routine o_o

  • Monitor their moves and yours whose is best. Its never how long youve trained its how long you decided not to quit. From her books her parents had no right to use her earns and she was able to obtain adulthood at age 17. Good Dominique.

  • You don't need to look to Li Shanshan or Xia Sha to see a 4 element series. Does the name Shawn Johnson ring a bell?

  • shawn johnson doesnt have a 4 element series, smart one!

  • Shawn does a 3 element series; flic-flic-layout.

  • I wish we still saw 4 elements in one pass on beam still.

  • Well Li Shanshan and Xiao Sha does a 4 elements sequence

  • @ninjachild5 some of the chinese still do 4 skills on beam :)

  • @liukin95 which?

  • @all4uanew Tan Sixin does

  • @ninjachild5 wait do they choose not to do it or it's against the rules.... sorry im not a gymnast so idk... i wish i was though

  • @ninjachild5 Does the new system still allow that

  • @ninjachild5 its hard cause everyones so tall now

  • Omg I love her mount!! YOu never see that!! Iv only seen that from Wendy Bruce other than that!! A girl from my gym tryed doing that and she almost got it!!

  • You wrote "You never see that!" and then "I've only seen that from Wendy Bruce other than that!"

    Um... duh.

  • my favorite gymnast of all time

  • how old was she?

  • 14 i think or 15 but im pretty sure 14

  • wow, you could be under 16 and compete in the olympics? i guess the rules were different in 1996.

  • ya i no isnt that crazy

  • Nowadays, you have to turn 16 during the Olympic year to be eligible for competition. So the youngest Olympic gymnast you would see under the current rules is 15, as long as the 16th birthday is anytime during the year of the Olympics. Back in Moceanu's day, you had to turn 15 during the Olympic year, and in her case, her birthday was about a month after the Olympics, which is why she was able to compete at 14 years of age.

  • I always wondered why Shannon scored higher than Domi in the team final. Domi was nearly flawless and threw an extra layout in her routine than Shannon did. Shannon did throw a much harder dismount but was a little short and took a hop. Domi stuck her dismount. For being the last one up, and for following a 9.862 from Shannon, I think Domi should had scored in the 9.875-9.900 range.

  • Very good points. Personally I prefer Shannon, but Little Moceanu was an AWESOME competitor and had so much natural talent. Plus she was one of the most truly beautiful gymnasts I've ever seen. I think in Atlanta the judges had preconceived ideas about Shannon and were very generous with her. WWE fan? Do you think Shawn Johnson looks anything like Chyna in a leotard? I do. Minus the lipstick, of course.

  • @wwefan116 I've been trying to figure out what she scored on this team final beam, can you tell me?

  • @wwefan116 Shannon had a much better rep. 5 medals in 1992 and the 2 time world champ. reps mean alot in gymnastics.

  • the mount is the coolest thing ever.

  • how old is she?!

  • she was 14 here.

Before they made it 16 and older.

  • She reminds me so much of nadia comenich...i know i didn't spell that right =)

  • lol bella karolyi is hilarious

  • amazinggg!

  • where is the score?

  • If I remember right, I think she got a 9.850.
