  • Emma is a b**** to Harriet but if she wasn't, I suppose there wouldn't be a book then...

  • Mr woodhouse is just so adorably particular about the littlest things!

  • I must say this is... perfection ;)

  • i thought gwyneth paltrow was a better emma.

  • I wish Mr.Elton wasn't so hot in this version!!

  • I think the Gwyneth Paltrow version's Mr Elton is better. This one is too hot :D

    I can't don't like him. ;D

  • When I red the novel, THIS Mr Knightley is what popped up in my mind. I saw the Gwyneth Paltrow vesion and was not fully satisfied, then I saw this...

JLM is perfect for this role ^^

  • mr elton's eyebrows and sideburns distract me a little too much haha!

  • Jane Austen was a genius observer of human nature. Genius!

  • Why can't Emma ever listen to Mr. Knightley?

  • in the movie Emma, it wasn't obviouse that Mr. Elton was in love with Emma, but here... it is too obviouse. In my humble opiniuon :D

  • @marsto26

I think it's really funny that it's so obvious here, like Emma acting all-knowing without her realising it.

  • @Besoaria

Agree. It just adds to her cluelessness. Her brother in law tried to tell her. But she was just to hard headed to listen, lol.

  • Mr. Elton creepooooo, he's absurd!

  • It is very clear to me how she feels about the young man farmer or not.

  • i hate emma! why is she so evil? is she really supposed to be the heroine?!

  • @34RiverStone Jane Austen intended for this character to be unlikeable in the beginning of the story

  • @Ellen9008 yes, i realized that after she began to be a better person. Therefore Jane Austen succeeded in her mission. She is quite good! One of my fav. writers.

  • ii dislike emma alot in this part.

  • Emma is so selfish

  • @flora634 blake ritson doesn't look the part of mr knightley, nor is he old enough. I don't understand everyone's big hubbub with mr elton ...he is a bit attractive, but he's mainly scrawny and creepy!

  • blake riston shd hv to be Mr. Knightly

  • The actor playing mister Elton part, should be Frank Churchill... he's really handsome!

  • @gurahakash He plays the main man in the Mansfield Park! Its pretty awesome......

  • mr woodhouse is soooo cute!!

  • young girls can get a chill even in sunny whether a well as in paintings apparently.

  • Mr. Elton is HOT!

  • "You never praise me unless you can possibly help it." Oops! Shouldn't that be "You never praise me if you can possibly help it"? Oh well. Robert Martin is cute.

  • what's with thier hair styles? i mean emma's hair do is always great and beautiful.. but harriet's hairis just ugly

  • @strawberryice8705 It was in fashion to wear your hair in ringlets.

  • emma is different from other girls.

may be alittle bit like marianne in sense and sensibilty.

  • lol 1st I read the book and then saw a bit of the movie with Gwyneth... no offence, I just thought hse looked more like Emma, ... but this Emma can actually act this part so srsly ^^ the other movie had no like manipulating and no feeling of this Emma who knows the perfect couple and sets them up... this does!!! I love this version!!

  • poor harriet,she's so silly,but nice in a way.

    very gullable though:s

  • This Emma somehow portrays what I thought about the character in the book: what a manipulative bitch! :)))

  • @missunafraid13 Jane Austen said she was writing a book with a heroine whom nobody would like but she herself. Yet quite a few like Emma despite her meddling.

  • @jessyquedens Yes, Jane Austen is an amazing writer, and I actually like Emma despite her flaws :)

  • Dumbledore portrays mr.woodhouse really well...

  • I love this version of Emma :)

  • emma's so patronising! :P

  • Any man of character would die of shame before behaving so moronically in front of a lady - but then again, I presume the character part, which Mr Elton is massively deficient in!

  • Mr Elton is too yummy not to like. WHY did they have to make him so attractive? He's impossible to hate.

  • @brotherhe you should check out the other movie with him in it, Mansfield Park. Its perfeccttt :)

  • @thedevilwearsJUICY thats what my mom kept saying when i first watched this, but she was speaking more in terms of mannerisms than looks

  • Are there really such girls like Harriet...?? in real life i mean...

  • @upload2010 what do you mean by girls like Harriet?

  • Every 1 has done such a great job in this film. "Emma" by Jane Austen is a wonderfully written classic that I never tire watching or listening to in audio books. However, this film is the very best for the reason that Romola Garai and Johnny Lee Miller are superb actors. I enjoy watching them in this brilliantly done classic.

  • Mr Elton is done so well isn't he.

  • Emma's house looks so much like Kew Palace in London (one of the many palaces of the British Royal Family).

  • this emma really does look a lot like alicia silverstone...especially her eyes.

  • I love how Emma says "while you were all in suspense I kept my feelings to myself." Lol, too funny! One of the best lines in the book and the movie that fully illustrates how self-deluded Emma is about her own actions and intentions. This actress is amazing!

  • emma is a tricky rude character

    :\

  • thank you for posting this!!!

  • I really like Sir Michael Gambon in this, he's funny!

  • *shudder* I really cannot like Mr. Elton... he grows repulsive later on in the book, and he really reminds me of some fellows I'd rather not remember...

  • LOL, I really can't hate Mr. Elton... his arrogance is so ridiculous it becomes cute. The poor lad tries soo hard to sound impressive, and ends up sounding just plain silly. And the sad thing is that he is very real, I think everyone knows one or two Mr. Eltons.

  • I thought the scene where the discussion of Robert Martin's proposal was conducted was very well done. Both actresses were expressive and efficient in it.

  • i love how well he knows emma!! i love them together!!

  • is something wrong with this vid b/c its not loading??

  • it's you tube.

  • tnx 4 posting!

  • Mr. Elton is sooooo cheesy--in a hilarious way. I've known a guy or two like him. And even though they're trying way too hard, it's still funny/endearing in a weird way.

  • One shouldn't blame a good lad for trying too hard. We should bless his trying heart. LOL

  • Mmmmmmmmm! I DO LIKE MR ELTON!

  • Never thought I'd say it but I'm finding this 'Emma' even more enjoyable then the Kate Beckinsale version. It's very cute and witty. Well done :)

  • @tribebohemian I thought the same!

  • Wow...what a snob...what good acting on Romola Garai's part though!

Harriet and Robert Martin (a very nice guy) forever!

  • lol, the art! XD

  • I think drew barrymore's voice sounds alot like this emma in her film ever after.

  • thats who i thought it was cos i could here it and i only caught a glimpse of her lol

  • I love how they bicker at each other !

  • love the hat!!! XD

  • I'm sure I'll learn to dislike him once he's tied the knot, but right now Mr. Elton is just...really attractive

  • AGREED!

  • @iridescentblue If you like Mr. Elton, watch him as the hero in Mansfield Park, also by Jane Austen. Enjoy!

  • @iridescentblue he is but he needs some sun lol hes so white!

  • At least in the end things work out for Harriet ^_^

  • does no one else think that romola is making a lot of weird facial expressions esp at 9:05- 9:10

  • The scene where Knightley yells at Emma for persuading Harriet is way better in the Gwyneth Paltrow version. I'm very much liking this adaption though!

  • I see what you mean about Mr. Knightley's age...I thought he looked too young at first too, then I remembered my young-looking 34-year-old brother. :^) Maybe Mr. Knightley just looks young for his age (36) and Emma looks mature for hers (20) (that was their ages, right? :^))

  • I see some reference to the 1996 Emma movie where Harriet tells Emma of her decision to refuse Mr Martin. Haha. I like that part. Hilarious! XD

  • the only thing I'm not liking is how Mr. Knightley is Edmund to me :( Johnny Lee Miller is a great actor but he looks young to be Mr Knightley, who is supposed to be 14 years older than Emma!

  • sorry, 16

  • Wow, Em--way to be a total snob. We love you though!

  • brilliant casting! Enjoying every second

  • Thank you, thank you!

  • poor Harriet..

  • IMO Harriet looks more like Kristen Dunst.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! ^_^
