  • What year was this? because, if he was already designing for Dior (and that was his first noticeable job, so he could not have been known for any other reason) that would have meant that Christian Dior was already dead....asking if the guest is Christian Dior when he was already dead, must have been veeery awkward...

  • he s so cute...love him!!!

  • Boy he did well didn't he?

  • So charming

  • Ooh la la, I know Yves was gay, but I can still drool over him, right? Cool glasses, cool hair- and so tall and slim in that fabulously cut suit! Loved the way he bowed when shaking the ladies' hands...

  • which year does this show date back to?

  • @hvenati I think this was sometime in 1965

  • What is happened with women, you can nowadays walk in any city and don't see them anymore, those who suppose to have nothing to say and yet they where wonderful not only by their looks, but had it all, hooray for our emancipation it brought

    us nothing!!!!!!!!

  • @familypondman Or maybe that's what people continue to think and it's sad, there's as many bright women today but now they can open a bank account without prior consent from their husband or father.

  • @mylene0wnt Men make women , first fathers and than others, but now not anymore, they have a bank account of their own and no great women anymore like obvious in those days and wanted to depend of each other, i am sorry!!!!!!!!

  • I think the 1 dislike is from Louis Vuitton -

  • daly talks too much

  • "Je suis enchante de vous voir" Gosh! I'm crazy for YSL

  • @platinumboxyz

HAS IT NOT BEEN YOU -- i'D HAVE HAD THIS COMMENT PUT DOWN - LOVE UR COMMENT - LOVE YSL -AND LOVE ARLENE -

  • His hair would have been considered quite long at the time...People would have said, "he has one of those Beatle hair cuts"

  • Mr. Daly, SHUT UP!!

  • fantastic show ! YSL was rarely seen laughing and smiling !

    Arlene was so classy !

  • he's hot :)

  • OMG...!! I WOULD HAVE DIED IF WOULD HAVE MET HIM .. <3YSL<3

    RIP

  • Wow. I didn't know he was on this show.

  • wow. i really enjoyed this one..

  • sexy

  • "Il est si beau. Mon homme idéal"

  • there's a historic town in tampa florida called ybor city. pronounced eebor. originally of cuban-spanish origin. nearby you could watch or play a game called jai alai, pronounced high a'lie. also of spanish descent. just throwing mr. daly a rope here, there are pronunciations of y as e.

  • I have to say, sir, this video would be G-O-L-D back in France. I'm from France, and have to admit I have never seen this video, nor have a majority of Frenchman. Terrific job on uploading this video...

  • Magnificent man.

  • His L'Homme is fantastic ^_^

  • The translation of what Arlene said as well as Yves was "I am enchanted to see/meet you."

  • I wish they would have shows like this today! I'm 18 and I reckon it's a great show

  • Buddy: ok, what did he say?'' lol

  • what did yves say in french,

  • Arlene sounded sexy when she spoke French! *blush* Just saying...

  • absolutely everything about this clip is perfect...the way they speak, Monsieur St. Laurent suit, the way only the men stand up for the handshake as the women stay seated to be courted...timeless!

  • Arlene's so cunning. He totally fell into complimenting her, and in French nonetheless!

"None of that. What'd he say?" lol

  • the vocabulary in this is just..wow

  • Yves was hot! He's so young, he looks like a college grad, my kind of man! I just adore the kind of celebrities they had back then.

  • He looks exactly like austin scarlet. Especially in later years when he has longer blonde hair.

  • oh god, yves probably the hottest designer ever! love him

  • best game show everrrr!!!! <3 Haha the second guy from the left is so funny =))) Why does I need to wear a blindfold? You think I'm gonna recognize him?? =))) hahaha

  • I had a grin from ear to ear for the entire duration of this clip. Thank you for making my day!

  • who is the designer she mentions before Christian Dior that she thinks it is.. ??

  • @jesuisz Courrèges

  • @jesuisz Courrèges

  • This is priceless! Yves is so sweet, So innocent, So charming. Thank you for posting an dI am glad I found this clip!

  • The camera can't take all that bling on her neck. xD

  • Did you see Yves' suit??

The camera couldn't even shoot it clearly, it was so awesome!

I still have a few of his shirts and a robe from YEARS ago. He will be missed.

  • @1ring2rule3pigs His designs were so tasteful; I'm guessing that your shirts (and robe) are still getting rotation in your wardrobe. Very modern and timeless style at the same time. Almost a contradiction. I think of this quality as being along the lines of Coco Chanel; their style(s) would work just as well today as they worked at the time they were originally released.

  • I love Yves' suit!

  • yves saint laurent was so....so....SOOOOO gorgeous it makes me want to cry.

  • Terrific! Merci!

  • "If I came along and said 'Hey Dorothy! Can I have some of that?'" hahahahaha

  • Hmmm...Yves Saint Laurent was kinda cute! Despite the glasses...lol

    ~Purl~

  • @KnittingShieldMaiden the nerdy big glasses look is in now anyway ;) and I agree, he is cuteee

  • who was the second asker?

  • @joerob00 Buddy Hackett!

  • Just let Yves answer correctly on his own! The home question should never have gotten a yes.

  • Yves is very handsome. :)

  • @hollister32 Yes he is!

  • Buddy is actually asking some great questions.

  • Buddy is actually asking some great questions.

  • gaute?

  • Lol,

to observe the contrast between Buddy Hacket and Yves Saint Laurent is to die for

  • Doing a biography on Yves.....Crispin Glover would be PERFECT.!!

  • @UDIETHATWAY Crispin Glover would be ace casting I agree.

  • wow some stupid questions asked by that guy

  • God- this show had MAJOR A-list movie stars, fashion designers, etc. This show seems so fun. No way would A-listers like Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, etc. appear on a game show like this now adays!

  • maybe thats because the tv was a luxury in the 50's, so the content needed to be up to the standard

  • crossy70- I agree. Most of our stars of today, like Cruise and Pitt, are complete douches.

  • @crossy70 These days if WML was still around, all we'd be stuck with seeing would be crass F-list "celebrities"

  • @crossy70 How right you are.

  • Crispin Glover is a dead ringer for Yves.

  • OMG! YES.

  • That's an amazing resemblance!

  • What is it that Arlene asks Yves to say in French?

    Je suis enchante...

I can't make out the last bit.

  • She says, "Je suis enchantee de vous voir." which means literally, "I am enchanted to see you." and more figuratively, "I am pleased to see you."

    Soit.

  • I think she said "Je suis enchantee de vous voir"

  • Elle disait:

Je suis enchantee de vous voir.

  • I'm a bit surprised that Arlene mentioned Christian Dior in her rundown of French designers; she surely knew that Dior had died several years ago.

  • Arlene's necklace was gorgeous.

&& the fact that Dorothy died 3 weeks before this creeps me out. And just the whole questioning about her death is scary too.

Yves was cute. He reminded me of Arlene' son Peter with the whole black rimmed glasses look.

  • Wow - Dorothy make a posthumous appearance!

  • @shoredude2 yves saint lauren looked dorky? i hope you are joking.

  • Oh Arlene, what a lady!

  • Can Daly shut his trap and let Yves answer the damn questions?!

  • well hello there...

    that man was FINE

  • Dorothy looked mad Arlene was getting it.

  • Bennett never should have gotten a yes on the home question in the beginning.

  • @Muffy2314 Yves answered NO and Daly should have shut up.

  • Daly says "sir" before it was established that the guest was male.

  • He did get into fragrances at some point.

  • Quite a few at that.

  • Yves was kinda sexy

  • Yes he was

  • @Patrick3183 kinda? he was a CUTEY ON ICE!

  • LOVE Buddy! Makes me laugh everytime!

  • Arlene has a lovely french pronounciation. She really has everything, I believe.

    Thanks for posting!

  • And I'm sure she probably wore plenty of Yves Saint Laurent's creations. You can just tell that she has that elegance about her.

  • was yves gay?

  • Is the pope Catholic?

  • well yes, but was yves gay?

  • Yes, lol, Yves was gay. And he kept homosexuality in a very distinct way, becoming one iconic good symbol of gay people to the future generations. I mean... that gays are humans and therefore they've got amazing qualities and some defects.

  • you don't have to be sarcastic you know

  • This 1965 episode, broadcast three weeks before Dorothy Kilgallen's death, featured three guests famous enough to require blindfolds on the panel.

  • We remember Saint Laurent's contributions to mental health awareness.

From Wikipedia: He lasted 20 days in the French military before hazing stress sent him to a military hospital, where he learned that Christian Dior had fired him. He wound up in French mental hospital Val-de-Grâce, where sadistic staff gave him big doses of sedatives and psychoactive drugs and administered electroshock therapy. YSL traced both his mental problems and his drug addictions to this time in hospital.
