Serious point: You need more emphasis on the fact that you're going for the gun when he tells you to put your hands up BECAUSE he's expecting you to move. You're making it sound like you need a faster-than-the-eye movement to grab the gun.

i was mugged the other day..i have my own technique i slap and grab the wrist whilst twisting it, kick the inner knee then fold my leg back to the other side of his opposite leg bringing him to the floor, when he is falling i put the opposite side of my elbow on his neck, swing the other arm round grap my bicep and place my hand behind his head (rear naked choke) he passed in in 15 seconds, so then i controlled him and rang the police

@mgwtube12 you probably have a burnt/cut hand and the assailant probably has a type two malfunction, assuming your hand was covering the breech at the time he fired the weapon.

I'd hope then that he isn't an expert at clearing a handgun and you have time to escape.

The problem with many of these gun defenses is that it's ASSUMED the attacking gun is within arm's reach. If not, you're pretty much screwed. Just toss to him what he wants, and next chance you get, book it

All you can do is try your best to be composed and apply the technique. Maybe you take the weapon, maybe you get shot; but if you gave up your wallet and he still persistent,chances are your attacker never planned on you walking away anyway

There are 2 things that would make this technique work. One is when you are reaching for your wallet you use that motion of handing it to him to drop wallet and when he looks at it momentarily thats the moment you need to distract him to move. With weapons defense you should move your body away from the weapon and the weapon away from your body at the same time. This will double your chance of surviving when the gun discharges. The Nelson System uses this principal in weapons defense.

as long as you keep your hand firm when you are grabbing the slide, when they fired the gun your hand will be preventing the slide from sliding back rendering them useless anymore. And your hand will still be okay. Its from what I have heard though.

The thing about gunpoint is, most people who steal don't kill. Or at least it's a last resort. And in order to steal something from you, or hear your voice most people will walk up close to you. Also most people who own a gun aren't Walker Texas Ranger. They are not going to hit you standing all the way back where and they know it. To certify they will usually get in your face and make sure you don't pull anything funny. So Krav Maga IS extremely useful against the average gunman. Just be wise.

That's a nice video except for the fact he did one pistol. A Beretta. He should have done something with a snub nose for realism because odds are if you're going to get mugged by anyone with a firearm, it's going to be shorter than that Beretta therefore changing the disarming technique all together. Also, I've always been a strong little guy. I played football in middle school and for fun in highschool. I was known for being able to tackle people that were twice my weight.
