Wow she's amazing! she should have scored much higher except for the slight mistake and not finishing on time. waaay better than the commonwealth games. British RG is improving!
There are plenty of gymnasts in the top 20 world rankings who are not amazingly flexible or skinny. Is it not more to do with (yes performing elements you can do properly) but also being tidy. So much seems to rest on execution...even a lot of the artistry marks are now based around this?? Am I correct??? :) x x
I'm not sure what the rules r now... but about 2years ago, you could get max 7 for elemrnts, 7 for the work with "equipment", 3 for the artistics, n the rest were for choreography n music. But it's all really complicated, n in my opinion, pointless)
Pretty much, apart from the fact about nationality) N if u think that u r born bendy, it's a lie) You practice loads to become flexible, n believe me, it's really paintful! N you starve yourself to b skinny as well... In Russian Olympic Village they practive 8 hours/day. So dont think it's easy! N it's bad 4 ur health as well (i had my knee cup dislocated 7 times, also back problems, n stomach problems coz of starvation) As in any prof. sport it's beautiful when u r watching it
Have nothing against RG. Master of Sport in it myslef. But I have something agains this particular gymnast. If u knew the way she behaved in Ukranian competitions... Pretty much telling that the all country is shit. (Excuse my French)
I'd say that first of all, she's not flexible enough. Then she "doesn't feel" the ball. She's afraid of the audience... N if she lost a bit of weight, it'd b easier 4 her to jump. But I don't think she'll b able 2 improve, coz it's hard @ her age... (U stop doing RG at the age of 22 ish) If the younger gymnasts start practicing more n harder, they will b on higher level.
You can, but it's still easier to jump n to do some elements when u r skinny. Howewer, u lose a lot of energy n strength, while losing weight. I personally think it's easier to do RG when u r skinny)
@KristinDaie you don't neccicarily have to loose a tonne of energy and strength while loosing weight. you just have to be carefull - I could explain better but it would be too long for this post.:)
@KristinDaie that's an unfair comment, the uk have very few clubs and the majority of the nation know absolutely nothing about this sport so she has done well to be competing amongst the russian girls
@nicw Oh no, no, she's brilliant compareing to English girls. The problem here is that she attempts to do "expencive" elements but has no credit 4 them, that gives her lower marks as if she did easier elements. But I guess it's her coache's fault, not hers.
PS Loads of English girls practice in Russia with Russian coaches. But most of the times they can't stand the pressure coz they r not used to it, so they leave((

@insaneraverz I know! I love how foreign commentators pronounce everyone's names ^^ Like the Spanish commentator from the 1992 Olympics says Southwick as "soosvick"
I like how she goes for these hard elements and difficult catches.

@KristinDaie Sorry but she does not need to lose weight 0_0

She does, then it'll b easier 4 her to jump
KristinDaie 1 year ago
@KristinDaie She is already skinny enough, you can get better jumps by building strength in your legs and with ballet training right?

She's trying to do hard elements she's not able to... it looks really stupid. She should do what she can and stop copying Kanaeva.

@KristinDaie Apart from her less-than-amazing horizontal to penchee pivot, I don't see what she did so wrong 0_o
