  • I remember watching this as a kid late on a Saturday afternoon during the Christmas Season. It was absolutely magical. Maybe it's just me getting old..but Holiday TV doesn't seem to hold the same wonder for today's youth..and that's a shame.

  • OMG!!! Thank you for uploading this! Thank you!!! Been looking for this for years and years and years.

  • I always loved this one...scariest Marley EVER!!!!!

  • To TheBig50. Write me at mdandcrjr@aol.com

  • Thank you very much for posting this! This is the one and only Scrooge story I love to watch. Brings back so many memories from my childhood!!

  • Never mind... it was the Richard Williams version from '71... the best one I think.

  • @squonk61 lol...i just saw ur post and i agree...HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

  • I always watched an animated version of A Christmas Carol throughout the late 60's, early 70's. I thought this was the one, but the one I remember was not a musical, did not have singing in it Does anybody know of the version I might be talking about?

  • @squonk61 what about the one from RICHARD WILLIAMS from 1971? Check it out....that may be the one...

  • @squonk61 Yeah I thought this one as well but after watching some of it I don't think it is the one but I know it is not the one from Richard Williams. It might have just been so long since I saw it that it just seems different.

  • God bless Charles Dickens,.I've never seen a version of this story that I didn't like. It's a gift to write something that remains as beautiful, poignant and relevant 100, 200,300 years after it was first written.

  • I think this was the first version of A Christmas Carol I ever saw. It came out when I was 5 years old. If I remember right, I think Kenner toys sponsored it. And that Jacob Marley scared me, too!

  • This is the first incarnation of A Christmas Carol that I have ever seen..

  • That's still the scariest Jacob Marley ever!!! As a kid I thought that's how ALL ghosts looked and sounded like...

I hope that in the very near future it will be majorly release in the USA on DVD & Blue-ray formats..'soon. Christmas Carol Animation 1969 brings back all kinds of warm cherished memories of my youth..'great Classic!! Thanks for adding it's Classic charm to YouTube.

  • I luv this version and (now don't laugh) the mr. magoo version too!! (The things we liked as kids lol

  • love them all !!!!!

  • the best x-mas story of all time...

  • This was part of CBS's Famous Classic Tales that began airing in the 1960's through the early 1980's. It would begin in the fall and would end with this broadcast, usually on the second or third Sunday in December. I hope that there are other FCT post out there. I enjoyed these when they came on. Maybe Boomerang will air them. Hear that, Ted?

  • I can't get over Nephew Fred's single bucked tooth. I love it!

  • The 1971 version is the best animated ACC.

  • D: there are so many versions i'm confused!

  • They made Marley too scary!

  • I find myself watching this to write a play.

  • I haven't seen this in ages! Thanks!

  • i believe this same crew did a animated version of a conn yankee in king arthurs court that i have not been able to find

  • I wonder if the person who uploaded this version of "A Christmas Carol" has the animated version of "The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow." The Family Classic Tale version was pretty good.

  • Great stuff! Of course the animation of this film isn't on the same level as that of Disney, but it has such charm. I grew up watching this version of "A Christmas Carol."

  • love this great memories,thanks

  • I loved this version as a kid. Thanks for posting it.

  • Released for television in 1969 - I remember seeing this version throughout the early 1970s of my childhood. I liked this version because Marley's ghost was soooooo scary to me! The other 1971 version was higher quality, but it was much shorter and Marley's ghost wasn't nearly as creepy.

  • @OctoberLandon Well you have to admit that it was a little scary when he undid his scarf and let the bottom of his mouth drop down. And there was a 90 minute version that premiered in 1984.

  • @mkl62 Yes, that was kind of creepy. I watched that version the other night and really appreciate the quality animation in this version.

  • I try to watch ALL the "Christmas Carol" movies. I collect them (I even have a tree ornament. I love the story and enjoy each idividual movie. I don't think I ever saw this one! I would have been 4 years old when it came out. Maybe I just forgot, I don't know.

Thank you for putting it on. There are so many different takes on this story. I try to find them all!!!

  • OMG, Thank you SO MUCH for posting this, I've been searching for this for years! Marley's ghost always scared the living H--- out of me when I was a kid! (but that's why I loved it!)

Now Amazon can keep their $60 videos! I'll just watch it here instead! hehehehe!!

  • @cindybambini hear hear!! I agree

  • before my time, was born in 1980 but I am loving the animation and music so far

  • I too hope Amazon.com comes thru.

  • I don't know what it is about this animated version of the classic, but it makes me think wonderfully foolish thoughts like "let's start a fan club and have a bbq" ! On the big screen, out back, under the stars, eat, drink and be merry, and be a child w/an adult appreciation.

  • This has to be the scarries Jacob Marley in animated history!

  • the illustrated well the 1997 version, but this is also well designed

  • I patiently wait to own a dvd Amazon.com promises is ready for release soon. On the waiting list. Within the wait, thank you for providing this internet outlet to a childhood favorite.

  • @MultiAmvc - I'm also on the waiting list :) - I'm glad you can enjoy this while you wait

  • @MultiAmvc I've got this on DVD. I was hoping for a version from a flawless master film if there is one in existence. Either way, I am glad this classic is back and getting it's deserved recognition.

  • @TheThebigd50 Hey, I was just wondering if you had a DVD copy of the above video and where you managed to locate it? It would be much appreciated :D

  • this is my fave animated 'Christmas Carol"... thanx for posting
