  • Does. SqueekyLQDfart live in a hostel?

  • Just substitute "Crack" for "Heroin" and the result is the same. You wonder why these kids are like they are now? Crack has DEVASTATED the Black community and as you know the community is made up of FAMILIES! Yeah, THE MAN may have dropped the package in our neighborhoods, but that didn't mean we had to pick it up and open it. Don't you see that its all part of a larger conspiracy, based on the "Southern Strategy?" If you arent familiar with that term, LOOK IT UP!!!!!

  • @vh93jones What a joke. I laud you for this paragraph. Substitute "Crack" for "Heroin"? Really? Mis-information has devastated All Men! Mostly, the most ANGRY, and the ignorant. And you blame Crack? I blame you. Throughout human history, the weak, stupid, entitled men have always tried to appease the "Strong", by blaming their failings upon others. Remember the "Southern Strategy?" Yea, brother. I know:

"Only racist clowns, wear the presidential crown!"

    I Know YOUI

  • @allusionali has he done any other really soulful stuff like this instead of his up tempo funk stuff? Only just discovered this and much prefer it to his other well known stuff that you hear around...

  • Spoken word, that is.

  • James Brown telling you to get away from drugs is like a librarian telling you you shouldn't be reading...

  • @dugwyler Actually it isn't asshole, I am more than sure he was clean upon his ascension.

  • @spadeofdiamonds stay bless

  • "I can make the burliest of men forget their sex". Translastion: Heroin can make a masculine man a fag for dope.

  • @Rakabash No, its cuz heroin kills your sex drive

  • @TheJordanChronicles, Rakabash is correct. If drugs can turn a Woman into a whore, what makes you think some dudes won't sell their body for a fix. There was a movie where a crack head guy gave a blow job for a quarter, do you think they just made that up? Drug addiction can make the weak minded even weaker. Do thinkings they could not imagine doing.

  • real rap

  • @stillrising100 its not rap you prick its soul

  • Try Islam.

  • I used to listen to this with my older sister. Used to terrify me. Amazing lyrics. Don't stick shit in your veins people. RIP to everyone who has lost someone. Peace

  • I will comment--- and I will say that my beloved brother never got clean and was dead for 2 yrs before the family was finally notified by veterans affairs of it. I remember this song and how it taught me to never mess with that stuff if it were ever in my path in life. I thank God and James Brown for making this song. It saved many a young person from going down that horrible path. I know that.

  • t this point I don't really see myself getting off the methadone anytime soon with my back problems plus the fact that I still don't trust myself to not use and the methadone completely blocks the high from any other opiate and after being on the done for so long It doesn't produce much of a euphoric feeling at all. I hate when people say that I'm just using the methadone as a substitute. It saved my life and has kept me clean and pain free for over 2 years now and isn't too bad for your body

  • I'm 24 and Injured my back by falling down a flight of stairs when I was 12. By 16 they started prescribing me vicodin for a couple years then cut me off. I couldn't stand the withdraw so I started buying pills on the street and eventually started shooting heroin for economic reasons. Then in 2009 I got into a Methadone clinic which honestly saved my life. Since I've been on methadone I haven't used any opiates at all I still smoke weed but I don't consider that a drug.

  • I got the true scope of my friends addiction the other night...he was detoxing at 4:00 am and it was an amazing sight to see. We are going to have an intervention for him Monday night.

  • He was smoking PCP when he was recorded this! Practice what U preach!

  • @rickw1100 he wasnt preaching anything it was just a song about the horribleness of the drug....

  • @760lilt Really? Maybe you should actually listen to the words this time.He was preaching. In fact he was on Ronald Regan's National Anti-Drug Committee created to speak out against drugs- while all the time he was using. He should have practiced what he preached, he might have stayed out of jail.

  • @rickw1100 Wrong the drug PCP wasn't on the market then there was however plenty of LSD Cocaine and of course Heroin,James did have a control problem later in life trying to get back what the ravages of time takes from us all eventually, practice what you preach is such and easy cop out,for the one with no poetic skills, but then again you have Viagra.don't be a downer brother appreciate a song way ahead of its time, social conscientious 1972 During the Vietnam ERA,many tried to escape!!

  • @rickw1100 Got another one for you,Eric Clapton's Cocaine,Peace as we said back in the day.

  • @masonfss I hope you're not as stupid as your postings indicate. PCP,(Phencycidine) was created in 1926 and patented in '52 as an anesthetic. It was discontinued on humans because of side effects. It began to emerge as a recreational drug in major U.S. cities as early as 1967. Brown used it and other recreational drugs throughout most of his adult life, The song King Heroin was included on his 1972 "There it is" album. He was using then. Why not try some Viagra on your pea brain lol!

  • @rickw1100 Oh and laugh out loud is such a girlie little text message,on a computer,Man Up. I'm not going to argue with you that's not my thing to try and trade insults over the Internet. So you go right ahead and start the insults and I do Like you did and research his Bio which said that he started using in the late 70's during a waining career and also PCP,but I'm sure you'll come back with something your type never stops.Even if I was to say okay you win,it won't be enough

  • @masonfssr - It was you who started the insults. I'm a proud Latino and we do not take B.S. from anyone-read your own posts. Members of the J.B,s including Bootsy Collins have said in interviews that Brown was high on PCP during several of their recording sessions- some, when listened to, were incoherent. So, maybe YOU need to man up! Stop being so defensive, -Eric Clapton's cocaine? gee, whites use drugs too? -never knew that. WTF? Man up? You're not Man enough to admit you're wrong!

  • James Brown was the man. Even though he's gone, he still IS the man. He always will be.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green the boss man!

  • R.I.P. J.D.M. 12/21/81 - 9-14-11 The devil got hold of you but, Mama knows God took you from his evil grasp.

  • LEGEND

  • Jessie Lee Barnard Western (1982-2007) RIP

  • This is probably one of the most inspirational songs. I love you James Brown, Rest In Peace

  • My cousin Ben died on Heroin...I hate all dope dealers. I wish my cousin would have told me what made him so sad...before he got on it...I miss him. He was 19....

  • REAL THEN AS IS IS 40 YEARS LATER.........JUST SAY NO,IT STARTS SLOW AND THEN IT'LL GROW........LOL i KNOW!

  • This song is deep...

  • dope

  • Rest in peace Izzy...Another victim of heroin.

  • feels like im high listening to this interlude

  • this song is 100% raw

  • @Gangstaaa1988>you are never but one step away from another persons problem or addiction. dont judge, or you will be judged by the thing that you judge by.You know nothing about this so dont comment, only pray that you never experience it, and i hope your not addicted to something. like your woman, car, job, or anything that keeps you seeking and seeking and seeking/ no one wants to be addicted to drugs.AND I THANK GOD BY HIS GRACE IM 24YRS CLEAN.so dont judge, you know nothing about this HELL...

  • @avistan222 Right on my brother AND I TO THANK GOD BY HIS GRACE AND NA I'M 12 YEARS CLEAN.

  • @avistan222 Amen!!!! If you judge, you will be judged! If you show compassion and understanding, you will receive compassion from our redeeming creator. This planet didn't just happen. THINK ABOUT IT!

  • @Leo55BabyBoomer evolution my friend lol

  • @avistan222 Amen! may god continue to keep you away from all evil!

  • @avistan222 i dont judge... all i say is that everybody is responsible for their own actions. u dont slip and fall onto a needle. theres a reason i know nothing about 'this hell' as u put it. its because whatever happens in my life I KNOW nothing will make me do heroin, im glad ur clean i really am. but ppl need to take responsibilty for the shit they put in their bodys n not pass it off as an excuse

  • @Gangstaaa1988: you said it well brah....comments ARE needed, not someone telling people to "speak not".

people who got on that shit had a reason for doing that to themselves....if others see it happening to a person, that person has just postured himself to be judged by society. That's what happens when anyone commits an act of abuse ....(or goodwill). So to anyone saying don't judge.....grow up already, it's a natural process in society

  • deep

  • JAMES WAS STRAIGHT SPITTIN' ON THIS. I LOVE THIS "JOINT"!!!!!!

  • man I saw a guy shoot up once by mistake I walked into the wrong room and seen that and I got sick, " been scare of needles ever since"...that was in the 80's

  • @RIVERS758...YOU CAN DO THIS ONE DAY AT A TIME....SIGNED..9/12 YRS CLEAN AND SOBER.

  • "Dead, brother! Dead!" & I shiver ...

  • i hate the word "junkie" it is such an ugly word, one of the ugliest to ever come about!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @horseonjupiter tha word "junkie" came from tha 1920s when heroin addicts were emerging big in america they would go to scrap yards with metal cans and "junk" for a couple bucks to buy heroin hence tha word "junkie". tha word "dope" comes from DOPAMINE, tha amino acid in your brain responsible for pleasure,comfort,happiness...morphine is so close to dopamine molecularly your brain can not tell tha difference, morphine being major amino acid derived from opium...hence diacetylmorphine-DOPE

  • Respect.

  • Polydor records should re-release this song-the people of today could use a powerful message like this

  • yes. Dilla!

  • I'm a junkie, 10 months clean. heard this song at the begining and the end and now

  • What a lot of people do not understand about James Brown is that he was a true visionary, and believed in helping yourself instead of waiting on a hand out. He spoke and sang about pride, love, and self help, but the media didin't speak about that upon his last moments on earth. Things like staying away from drugs and determination was what this man was all about. Who didin't make a mistake in their lives? Who can judge anyone these days?

  • One of the most amazing songs I've ever heard,The God Father Of Soul,The God Father Of Rap,1972,this would be one of those first songs that just hearing it once would haunt my memory, and always be a part of my life even though I was a kid.

  • A kid in age;Not in years of experience, like so many others, when we think we're grown we later reflect on life and realize that (Damn;man I was still just a kid),the experience's as much as time can change you.Sometimes more for bad then good. Then we struggle, and fight, but we keep moving, only to look back to realize; and wonder how did I make it,even feeling guilty about those with us who didn't.Truly all we'll ever have is this moment, not Poverty or Riches,Just one Sweet Moment to live Life.

  • Also from this day was See What You Done, Done by Delia Gartrell

  • I lost my nephew n 2 family members n lots of friends. God forgive Us for we know not what we do .. Kids dont USE DRUGS.

  • I was involved with drugs and hooked on heroin. There was a drug that I didn't try. It was started in 1970 along with the now cursed cultural revolution. Oh, it was all okay, " do your thing!" they yelled. Just as Haight-Asbury was the center of this peace and love crap and smoking pot and dropping acid it was so cool. Within a year Haight-Asbury district turned into a bunch of heroin addicts. I devolved in an animal, why? Because it was getting over on "The Man" I was fully involved, ruined.

  • @ronnelson82

    You don't seem ruined Ron!

  • how can u dislike this!!!!!!!!! ppl just press it for no reason to be funny. this is a a great sad emotional poet! he's telling you what herion is about and its dangerous. how can u dislike this. !!!!

  • That's why he is the KIng.

  • He is the king

  • This is from the "There it is" album not Jungle Groove, just so you know, but I love this track.

  • find me a song, a monologue, a speech that explain the heroin drama question better than this.. simply, direct, true.. more than this. ..UNTIL YOU'RE DEAD.. DEAD!!! BROTHER..

  • Saw my father boiled up in the fetal position in the bathroom after shooting up when I was 8 years old. Lost my father to that white horse. In his best times, he was a beautiful man. Heroin helped him to be a monster in his worst times. RIP Frederick Dwayne Hayes 1945-1988

  • @palmares77 Did brother Hayes serve in the jungles of Vietnam.

  • @masonfssr Yes he did. Thanks for the care. Its' appreciated.

  • Church!

  • be whoever you are..... Heroin, Crack, and that other shit....KILLS

  • AMEN!

  • god bless you!

  • Im only 15 so I have no type of life experience but when my teacher made my class listen to this song i couldnt help but listen

  • @MsShawty096 your teachers a gangster!

  • Rap music was so different back then. It had meat on the bone as oppose to mysoginistic bull----. Gil Scott-Heron, The Las Poets, Funkadelic (check out "Chocolate City") all these cats would make a rap that moved you mentally as well as physically.

  • @rievans57 The Last Poets also had a very powerful message -the young people of today need to listen to the Last Poets instead of those stupid Lil Wayne songs

  • I hate heroin. I just lost my best friend to that evil king.

  • The gate by eight. The spoon by noon. On the run by one. This song is real. BELIEVE THAT!!!!

  • Nobody is born into this world and say to themselves,"i want to be an addict when i grow up"! i've never been a heroin addict but i do believe everyone is addicted to something! some may not be as dangerous but everyone may lean the wrong way some time but it is us who are friend, mothers, brothers, aunts, and uncles to try to help them when they need it!

  • Hell yea @Gangstaa1988 is right about that but that shit is sad man...

    Sad shyt

  • This was rap before rap, but with a serious social message... for the white horse of heroin will ride you to hell, to hell, will ride you to hell until you are dead, dead brother

  • no sympathy for heroin addicts. some of u may think its harsh but nobody forced u to inject urself with that dirty shit. absolutley no sympathy...

  • @Gangstaaa1988 You don't know what was in someones life that might push them into addiction, and they found out to late that they were hooked. Message to people who aren't addicted, stop now,or you will be!!

  • @HeReigns33 i see what ur saying but why does it have to be heroin?? if ur going through a bad time then smoke a splif! its guarenteed to make u feel better!! theres no situation in life where heroin should be taken. especially when it only takes a splif...

  • @Gangstaaa1988 Yes, I get it.Just saying, don't hate on people who are willing to air their dirty laundry,so that others might not go down the same road. They 'plolly started smoking splif, then plunged head on into the drug culture, and before they even realized what they were doing-BAM ! Hooked on heroin! I thank God I've never even tried the junk, but, I haven't walked in their shoes,I very well could have turned out worse! Shout Out to those who warn others of the dangers of this nasty drug :)

  • @Gangstaaa1988 What you don't understand herion is something that someone can become involved with -without even knowing how addictive the drug is-people don't make it their goal to become a herion addict it just happens-and it could happen to anyone including you-do you think the homeless planned to be homeless-shit happens-welcome to the real world

  • @curtisjones400 i can guarantee i couldnt happen to me. im not stupid enough to get involved with heroin. i know what ur saying but its you who doesnt understand... unless somebody has a gun to your head telling you to take heroin, then theres just no excuse to take it. im sorry if u dont agree but everyone is responsible for their own actions. people who make excuses and say its ok to take heroin as long as its justified will be making excuses for the rest of their lives...

  • @curtisjones400 Thanks for posting the Truth brother.

  • THE MAN WAS ONE OF THE TOP ARTIST TO INVENT SOUL MUSIC, HE CREATED FUNK AND HIP HOP. ELVIS AND MICHAEL JACKSON WAS GREAT TALENTS, BUT THEY NOT STARTED NOTHING. JB SHOULD BE GETTING MORE REPECT. LONG LIVE KING JAMES...

  • @62KingJames I feelz you though

  • @62KingJames James brown was not god, motown created soul brand which developed from blues and R and B, he didn't create funk and he certainly didn't create hip hop that came from the block parties in the tenemants. However he did strongly influence most of these types of music and aid thier progression the problem we all have now is that media influenced music is being forced down the necks of children. its our jobs to ensure that children are properly influenced musically.

  • @bedmouse u must b young, james brown was the first artist to say the word funk, in the early 60's, he made his own music, 20 years before a block party was heard of, jb was making music b4 motown was heard of. He started making music in 1956 u fool. He created funk music that is a fact, no other artist was making dance music funk beats but Brown, he made song that he Rap In, like there was a time in 1968 and coldblooded in 1974,. Don't take my word for it, Go ask a music historian. iam 49
