the beginning, was very difficult, took me a lot of time
to find that trick I can hide my stuff under my bed.
got to tell you that I envied wizard's room, so big with expensive furniture! :)
I was so happy I found out I can pick up the cat and take it's hair, same as with the chicken's feather :)
I didn't find the trick with the mirror and the medusa, my best friend (22 years earlier) showed me that (probably someone told him, he wasn't so smart! just said he managed! I never believed him!) :)
I played this game when I was a little girl... Scared the hell out of me. Tried replaying it when I was 20, wizard was no less frightening. At 24, seeing that damn Manannan still gives me nightmares. Hahaha.
I swear I want to create a multiplayer kings quest or heroes quest. Have around 20 people on the server at once, maybe less, who can quest together and have fun.
This is the only king's quest that I could not beat. I had some sort of glitch with my copy that preventing me from picking up something vital to the game. Thank you for uploading this so I can finally sleep at night ;)
@LandOfMutants Actually, the music is not very good here because Sierra designed their early games to work with a Roland MT32, which at the time was the best music-thing you could get for your computer, but it was VERY expensive and most people didn't have one. So the game would play the MIDI equivalent, which is what you hear here, and it is not all that great.
Check out Dilandau3000's walkthroughs of various Sierra games and you'll hear how these games were meant to sound.
Jeesh, that was pretty callous of Manannan. "Sweep the floors!" Then two minutes later: "Feed the chickens!" I know that's how he is, though. The big jerk. But I love this story. So fun! :)
One of the times I played this, I got to the part where I was making the magic food that would turn Manannan into a cat. I'd used the porridge already, so I put the cat cookie into a bread loaf and it worked. I was really nervous though.
this game was so hard ,back in the day with no guides or nothing, i remember the thieves in the tree house and never making it over the desert, look forward to watching you conquer this bitch!
@teamwounder actually manananan kidnapped Gwydian from the neighbouring town of Llewender or something, where he was supposed to be king. And most employees are not slaves..
Nice thinking :) One time, I wasn't done with the stuff in time, and the wizard came back so I gave him a loaf of bread for dinner instead of porridge (and he didn't mind!) but I was like "Uggh crud I'm going to be too late". It ended up working out, though; I put the cookie in porridge and boom, turned Mannanan into a cat! :D I never got past the snow mountain but I still felt good because I didn't get killed by Mannanan. Feels nice to be free from a tyrannic wizard.
Wait actually, I gave him the porridge and put the cookie in the bread, I think....and it still worked. I was really upset though, because I thought you could only put the cookie in the porridge, so I thought I was going to still be a slave then killed. But I tried the bread because I was desperate and when it worked I was really happy.
this was long time ago when i played this game, took me hours to find that latch for the trap door. But still great the sound is crappy tho. Nowadays I play runescape LOL still fun, altho most players think i am too old for that LOL
This game brings back epic memories from childhood. Althouth the lame music now sounds annoying. Back on the Apple IIGS it was betta imo :) Same tune. DIfferent sound
@111puffinmuffin111 if you bought the game it came with the book which has the backstory and the mission, which is to escape. The book also contains the recipes you need to do the spells from the spell-book in the laboratory. You can't get through the game without the book. It's copy-protection, which most of the other KQ games also have.
Can anybody help me where and how to download the original version of kings quest III.. all i can find is the remake .. :( prefer the old one for good old time memory :P
Well there's abbdonware sites or Vivendi games who owns the rights to all Sierra games has released the King's quest collection(KQ 1 - 6, seven is seprate) on Steam and it has a modded version of Dos box to run them
Oh, man, I hated this game as a kid. The wizard would tell me to feed the chickens, so I'd type, "feed chickens," and get a reply of, "just walk there."
So I'd walk there and promptly fall off the cliff. *facepalm*
how do i save a game? The following text appears: "theres no directory named "..." "

@gerowen they sell this game on ebay occasionally. I have this original version, but its on an old computer without a working floppy drive or internet connection. heh
How ironic... I have almost the exact same memories with the same computer. My dad always had computer games from the very beginning. I had my cursor put on a part of the screen so when you were typing "Get" I thought it looked like you were typing "eat" so when it said "EAt Bowl" I was wandering what it'd do. XD
Mannanan's house was always one of the most scary moments in video games. There was nothing particularly haunting about it, but first time going through you're always telling yourself, "Crap he knows!! He'll be here any minute!! What do I do??"
corporate: That path drove me INSANE!!! this game is a classic, I remember spending hours playing this, typing random commands with mixed results, playing all day when I was "sick" and had to stay home from school...the old f5 (save) and f7 (load)...man, Im smack dab in the middle of memory lane right now. thanks yzzyxz!
This si the classic version. I do love Infamous Adventures new graphics and musical score even though it was a 1:1 release. I love the classic box art still to this day.
I played this years ago and it was still an old game back then. Gave up soon after starting and used a walthrough the rest of the way- even then parts of it were still difficult!

You definitely needed a walkthrough for this game. There was no way to even get past the wizard otherwise. I didn't even know you could hide your inventory under the bed!
LOL, well these adventure games sometimes have the most inane ideas. Like "move mattress to other bed then sit on mattress to get kitty's interest then steal mouse toy from kitty" or "put sweater on hamster, put hamster in icebox, put hamster in microwave." A steak knife makes complete sense to me.
I had this game for my Amiga 500 with no harddrive. Would use the RAM to store everything on 512KB of RAM. If you were a baller you had the 1MB RAM. Whats nuts is I was even a pirate back then. I had this on a 3 1/2 floppy that I copied from a friend. No instructions and everything was command lines. This was one of the first games to get me hooked on computers and games. EXCELLENT VIDEO!!

oh my gosh!! this game was nearly impossible!! i remember getting all the stuff FINALLY and then i tripped over the cat..... this game is so unforgiving... lol but it felt so good to beat it
