it works because the screen is playing 2 images, 1 with the pixel going vertical, and the other going horizontal, the glasses make it so each eye can only see one of them (the correct image) and tricks your brain into seeing 3D...if u pay out to have this at home (with a 3D computer, laptop or tv) u will have shutter glasses and this will block out each eye 60 times a second and give the same affect...

It's based on polarized light comincg from monitor. For 1st eye is polarized horizontaly and for 2nd eye is polarized verticaly. Glasses are based on the same technology. Horizontaly polarized light can't be seen through verticaly polarized glass. That's all!

Its called polarization. Its how the LCD screens in calculators and in your computer monitor work. Put simply, it orients the rays of light, vertically or horizontally(any direction really), when you have two oriented the same way so they are parallel, the light passes through, when u have two that are different(perpendicular to each other), the light is blocked. The left glass has them oriented one way(lets just say vertically) and the right glass has them oriented the opposite(horizontally).
