  • wow i can print then game statues like dragonborn from skyrim and things like that

  • Just think, once this gets more advanced and available to the public, you can simply print almost anything you may need. With the exception of wood and other items. Very cool.

  • Jan@gmail, This was just sent to me by a friend and I am blown away by it. It is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Thanks for a lesson in what may be our future.

Like I said amazing and awsome.

  • how hard is the product? will it break?

  • @ratlsd It depends on what the model is soaked in after printing, it can be soaked in different resins or even wax, if you wanted to polish and finish the model then it would be ideal to soak it in wax, if you wanted to paint it or plate it then you would most likely choose a harder resin.

  • WOOOOOWWW I could print whole anime figures with that i would be in heaven if i have a thing like that

  • I insist that this cannot exist and that I am probably dreaming.

  • Looks neat, I'm designing a hollow scale replica of "Red Dwarf"... hollow because I want to make it a sort of cookie jar thing

  • seems like it would be more practical to use this technology to make a mold so that you can cast the statue out of better material.

  • @ChrisD4335 Did you think that we were printing them as final statues then? Of course we use them to make moulds.........

  • most convenient machine in the world, and in history

  • I just read about this in The Economist. This technology is unreal.

  • OH MY GOD

  • now i can build my own shelbot!

  • wow...look where technology is taking us

  • O.O this..... this would make making my cosplay props SOOOOOOOOOOO much easier! I could just print gun replicas!

  • @Slaughter619 Tottaly ive always watched videos on youtube wanting to make my own gun prop

  • Amazing

  • wish i had one...so i can make my own action figures from my dreams

  • It amazes me how far technology has advanced over the last century. Simply Amazing

  • wow !! beauty !!!

  • does it recycle the un used material?

  • @Pieishman Yes

  • wow now this would be good :P

  • I will bury my aspiration to become a sculptor, I think they will be extinct in the near future... T_T

like T850 said "YOU ARE TERMINATED !!!

  • @wirog88 This is a debate that often comes up, we work with lots of sculptors we enable them to get to a statue as fast as possible, these processes will never replace sculptors, it just adds more tools to their tool box. :)

  • @Rapido3d hopefully

  • @Rapido3d plus people will always be doing it by hand for the art of it. just like how some people take up calligraphy

  • @wirog88 no you should be happy cause in the futur you will get more paid to do hand work sculp. like anything now laser or robotic made when you order it handmade you will pay much more :D

  • @wirog88

That is what they said about painting when photography came out...

  • @wirog88 The more things become automated , the more hand made things will be loved . Besides, you need the sculpture first before you can replicate it . You can already cast this kind of stuff in a million different ways.

  • super cool

  • That could be your new girlfriend. Just make it bigger.

  • The possibilities....Oh, the possibilities!

Imagine, when 3d tech becomes common to photography! You can take a pic of your new baby, bring it down to the print center, and have something new as a souviner!

  • That's Awesome...

  • is that real?

i never knew this even existed

  • and you thought regular ink cartridges were expensive..

  • It actually does use regular ink cartridges, HP11 for the binder material and HP57 for the colour.

  • i have a few questions :)

can you ad details to it? is it fast breakable and how thick is evry layer?

  • Yes you can add detail and rework the model after it has been soaked in resin and hardened, yes the model is very fragile until it has been soaked in resin, many artist I work with do this and then mould from it for casting in metal. The finest layer thickness is .08mm

  • i bet this takes forever!!

  • The Model was 180mm tall (7 Inches) and it took about 12 hours to print, I find it amusing how we can accept a sculptor taking weeks to sculpt something like this, but as soon as a machine is involved we expect it to be instant. :)

  • @Rapido3d

Maybe take a couple of weeks to get the design right for the customer, but it would only take a couple of hours at most to sculpt by hand.

  • @Mootuntbaboon If you can sculpt this in a couple of hours, email me I have lots of work for you.

  • @Rapido3d

Hahaha, A bit rash of me a know m8, I take it back and apologise for being a nob. Too busy the now m8, but thanks for offering, ;). Your machine is still a great tool for a sculptor to have at their disposal and would beat me hands down at doing one perfect copy after another, whereas I would have to sleep after a few with variations .

  • what mends it together?

  • the base material is white plaster. after printing it is soaked in epoxy resin or super glue.

  • interesting

    Whats the meterial?
