Jah Big was a good friend who I grew up with here in Richmond, VA. he cut his vocal teeth on stuff like r&b singing groups (Delfonics, Moments, Temptations etc) and later rock (he turned me on to Zappa) and of course funk! one of our favorite vocalists was the late Glenn Goins R.I.P. (a.k.a. the brother who LANDED the Mothership!) of course I was aware of reggae before he started singing it, but it was he who got me REALLY into it, to where I could really appreciate it. still miss him!
