i had a 95 z28 camaro with a 383 stroker and manual tranny with t tops and 3 speeding tickets on insurance and still only paid around 450 every six months for insurance so it wont break the bank if you have a good insurance company

Not sure why the Grand Am lost, they're not really fast, but they've definitely got all specs in their favor

Grand Ams are surprisingly quick for only having 175 horsepower. You also got to know how to drive the damn thing. However, I will say that once you start adding passengers, it bogs down big time!!!I own a Grand Am SE model with the 3.4 liter engine, and have no problem beating other cars. I never defend ricers, except in this particular situation. Grand Am's are slower than hell, and in all actuality, a cheap ass 1998 Honda Integra would beat a GA GT big time. For 6 grand you can get a 1996 Camaro Z28 with 90k miles that would do a burnout all over both of the cars I first mentioned, and yet manages 24 mpg with a light foot, and decently cheap insurance since the car is cheap to begin with.

Back in the day my friends '00 Integra LS 5 speed consistenly beat my other friends '99 GAGT. Both had intakes. I had a '99 GS-R with I/E and it wasn't even close.
You have to remember that the Integras were very light.
Ugh! I hate the Grand Am's '99 and up, they're so frigging heavy.. I meant the ones between '96-'98, they were reasonably lighter with almost the same power output.. I got a '98 right now and I can smoke Integras LS's.. The GSR's and Type R's (Like I said) they're the only ones that can beat my Grand Am..
They were heavier because they were slightly safer, still received a "Poor" rating for frontal impacts. Safety equipment and structural reinforcements aren't light. The older models were worse as far as crash protection goes.
The newer GAGTs also had 15 more horsepower and 20 ft-lb more torque than the last model...
I found a host of mint 96 Z28s with less than 90k for around $4,500, some manuals even. Some were even fully optioned short of leather interior. What have you to say to that?

I have a 05 Grand Am Gt and it beat a 98 gmc 4.3. we both then stopped at a gas station and he asked me if I had mods to my GA which I told him none that i knew of as he said he has his GMC 4.3 floored. I just used about 3/4 throttle on my grand am on take off.. He said his truck is running fine to.some grand am's that are not taken care of run like crap, the one's that are kept up and serviced run real good, too good for just having 175 horsepower.
