  • A good start

  • Thank you @hrosling for leading the way at TED!! From a TED Fellow who loves your talks and shared with my students.

  • what's the incentive for WB to do this?

and i mean beyond altruism and trying to look a 'good guy'

  • Banco mundial torna acesso a sua base de dados gratuito.

  • Excelente iniciativa do BIRD.

  • I love this, I think this is the start of something big! :O

  • Nice. But by far the best thing banks could do is to allow (= stop preventing) introduction of local money (not based on external debt).

  • This is absolutely crucial for the development of the world, and even for a layman and a casual student like myself who's very curious on how the world *really* looks. I'll definitely take part in the app challenge, as Hans Rosling says, we're usually pretty bad at the last 8 cm (from eye to brain) and we better change that!

  • Bob Zoellick did the right thing! The World Bank leaves the old fashion habit of selling public data for a free access that meets modern expectations. Most important is that organisations and companies can redistribute the data in innovative formate to a range of user groups. By this increased use weaknesses in the data will be identified and the feedback will improve collection and should help add resources to statistics! Stat is hot today!

  • @hrosling Great initiative! The next challenge is to use the information in a positive way to fulfill with the society expectations as well. It will be interesting analyse the data!

Thanks Hans for your website and great ideas that you've presented!
