@Jengirl92 Not really, but it was an alternative music darling. I remember feeling so cool that I knew who these guys were when all the cornballs were listening to bands like Men at Work
@GoblinsFriend Ah, got ya. I know what you mean. I like groups like Men at Work, but they were basically more radio friendly, pop versions of new wave.
polysynths were the best thing that ever happened to pop music! those creative, sparkling machines pushed songwriting straight into the future.... and then, at the end of the 80s, all the wonderful arrangements turned to dust and 2tone dance & 3 tone indie rock made it big.
I still have this album and this song was great - Hauntingly beautiful and the lyrics are a story that I could see visually happening. In a strange place called 'Jet Town'.
One of my dreams is that of listening to a cover of this song by The Cardigans with Tore Johansson as producer. I know I should get a life, but please, bear with me.
@romarius2005 Agree, but the vocal teaming is perfection also. I have listened to this twenty times today. When I first found the song, I thought it would be a disappointment because I had built it up in my mind all those years, but it did not disappoint.
I remembered seeing "Synthicide" only once on MTV back in '84, but the band's name and title got stuck in my head. When I tried to find it record stores, I turned up zip. When I was looking up obscure videos on Youtube, I thought of SSQ. I never made the connection between Stacey Q and the band before. No surprise, really, since SSQ seemed to be one of those blink and miss mayfly acts, and Stacey got to the point of media saturation with "Two of Hearts" peaking at #3 in '86.
lol....not to worry, many of us right there with ya!
Such a defining 80s song. I can still remember that all this new music was playing, part of the "new wave," and stations like Toronto's 102.1 were at the forefront of it all. Radio was no longer all about Top 10.
is bllody difficult fond this album around!! :(

When will this album be issued on CD? Wishful thinking I suppose, like Berlin's Information album... :(

A beautiful song, the best using synthesizers. Instead of programming music, they CREATE it.
