We've all heard about "lost" 60's bands but surely The Vapors must be THE lost 80's band. Must admit that until now only ever heard of "Japanese". A very late convert. Where are they now?
We are still enough alike, that I bought some light fixtures off Ebay, and the guy included some newspapers. They were almost identicle to what we have here, except you have to trade the rugby matches for football games.
Thanks for the info gerry1, I had no idea they had another album as well. I loved new clear Days in the US when I was a teenager. The whole album was fantastic. (even better than The Sweet) which is a bit much for me to say. Maybe equal.
yeah the vapors were cool..i saw them play live 4 times when they toured Australia in 1980..they played festival hall on a friday nite..i remember me and my mate yelled out play "eton rifles" cause we were starved of good uk new wave music!!..then during the week saw them play Bombay Rock brunswick..got to meet them and then on the saturday saw them play in moorabbin..we even took the minibus with them to the gig..steve and ed, howie were cool dave fenton was "icy"..they were great
THANK YOU! These somgs resound inside my mind as anthems of my rebelious youth. By the time I found News at 10 I truley knew that the world was 'quite serious'!. God love TheVapors. They wrote some really great songs.
Trains, Bunkers and News at 10 make this one of my favorite albums of all time. I never get tired of listening to it. Took forever to replace my vinyl with CD's but worth it. Magnets never got the airplay but it has some true gems as well. However, I've always thought of this as the ultimate New Wave album.
Man..ive been looking for this song for years..i could never remember the name. Turning Japanese is good...but they some rad songs on this lp...your right
This is perhaps on of the most underrated albums of all time. Everyone picked up on Turning Japanese and never heard all the other great tunes. News at Ten was my personal fave along with Spring Collection and Trains..these songs fit my mood in the early 1980's as I attended college..sure got me through alot of difficult times. Thanks for the blast.
Why wasn't News At Ten number one ?!?!?!?!?! That track was & still is pure genius !! That track is one of the many soundtracks to my life at that point !!!
i have both albums together on CD. the company is called Collectables. inside the jewel case they have a phone number 1-800-336-4627. the name of the CD is called Vaporized. I don't know if it's out of print now,it would be a real travesty if it is. good luck and happy listening!
Im from Chile, southamerica, and I knew the Vapors in a purely way, without that Turning Japanesemania, and thats why i´ve always thougth that in new clear days there is a few better songs than that famous hit. And Trains and News at Ten are one of them.
i know dave fenton from the past,i know they regret breaking up,they should have taken a break, 2 great albums they released, good to see them getting the credit they deserve
