@ihascupquake diamond dont spawn near lava, lava just exposes it and diamond spawn at level 14 and below, if you press F3, the Y is your level and i think 10 is the most common, best to wiki it

Tiff. I would recommend having a bucket of water with you at all time because when you go mining and fall in lava, you can pour down water and you'll be fine. It has saved me SO many times. Think about it. :)
