Yes, it does remind me of Basil Poledouris with the strong brass and stuff. However, I am even more strongly reminded of those big budged historical spectacles of 50s for some reason. Can's pinpoint which movie or score exactly. I just get the feeling this music would fit those very well.

Although they were stumbling long before they made DA2, Dragon age Origins wasn't that good either. Although you could easily tell that everything would go to hell once EA got involved.

Indeed, BG-Music has a similar style as Basil Poledouris' Conan-soundtrack...

This particular melody however reminds me very much of "Parade of the Charioteers" from Miklós Rózsa's OST for Ben Hur.

The composers of the soundtrack do such a terrific job transitioning between instruments to create different colors and change the mood of the piece. So incredible, and really should be more well known. There are few movies that have music that can top this...
