You're not your kids friend, you're they're parent, they're your child, you treat them like your child. I smarted off to my ma once when I was about 7 years old, she gave me her palm across my face. When my dad got home I got his palm across my ass. Know what, didn't smart off to my ma after that. It was less painless that way.

I like how she says to just talk to them when they misbehave and get them to stop doing something wrong from the start. Too many parents want to just slap their kids around and scream at them and pretend that gives them a sense of morality.

i dont do that.....if i did have a kid......for punishment....which i havent done before....i would say to a child,"do this or do that or im gonna wax off your eyebrows!"and they straighten up everytime

I do my own laundry, I have since I was a kid.

Funny!!!!--What you should be doing is increasing the recipes and teaching some of us how to cook. I'm single and have great difficulty cooking. It's like trying to calculate the trajectory of a space exploration rocket going to Mars. Why is it so hard? I can build a freaking house , do the plumbing and electrical but I'm an idiot when it comes to food!...Could it really be gender specific?????

She really does have this classy brooklyn accent that isn't really heard too much anymore--reminds me of my mother's aunt and friend(who happen to be Jewish and from East Flatbush). My mother who used to sound very Brooklyn Jewish, having lived on SI for over 30 years picked up that accent, unfortunately.

The lucky kids got Ivory Soap in their mouths after swearing. Back in the 70s, my mother's preferred favorite was Dial - the yellow bar! She would take the soap, push upwards, grind the bar into our molars so we tasted it for hours! but this only stopped me temporarily because I was a chatterbox and loved to swear too! If I learned a new swear word from my brother, I'd think: how can I use that word in a sentence! I went onto work in the publishing world - go figure! :)

I love this sooo much Great Job Joanne What a babe I'm jealous but I am 55 yrs old from Florida born in NYC left in 1982 what a girl lucky family to have her and Great TV for NY area lucky network producers an affiliates!!!! Not everyone is Italian now in that area so the new immigrants can learn a thing or two by how Joanne puts it so simply and fun!
