@shazeebmw well it is maybe ugly but it is most reliable fiering sistem there is,reason for that is becouse it is simple,i can disasamble AK in less then 10 seconds,take piece of rope 30 cm long(1 feet),one small piece of cloth i will tie in middle of rope,put some oil on it and pull it couple of times thru barell,and reasamble AK in less then 10 seconds,time i will spend to clean it up 30 seconds in total,how much time u need to do same proces with M16

Can someone help? I have an AK type assault rifle that chambers the 5.56 mm (.223) that my dad bought 25 years ago. It has a folding stock, and is relatively short. Its not 5.45, so i assume its a copy? Any way of finding out? Thanks, and good shooting!

@ukwarrior89 I'm assuming you are American, I know that a lot of Kalashnikov clones are made in America by US companies since Russian and Chinese AK importation is Banned, and most of the Imported AKs are Polish and Romanian knockoffs.

What you have is probably a higher quality American Clone, It probably has things on it like different stocks, materials, magazine capacity, etc. It's basically a legal to buy gun for people who want an AK design.

Actually, the Saigas have been imported to the U.S. though the Russian American Arms company. I have a 7.62x39 Saiga, and live in California no less, it's exactly like the one in video. It has all the Izmash stamps on it.

@ukwarrior89 Actually I didnt even read your comment properly, what you probably have is an AK-101 or AK-102, Russia made these guns almost identical to the AK-74, But they are chambered in 5.56, Targeted at buyers in western countries, Venezuela for example has bought a number of AK-101s and AK-103s since it has an abundance of 5.56 Ammunition but doesn't wish to use American/European weaponry. The 103 is a very modern version that fires the 7.62

AK-74M is their current standard issue, the 101 and 102 are 5.56 models for export, the 103 and 104 are 7.62 for export.

the 105 is a modern version of the AKS-74

the 107 is a fast firing extremley modernized AK-74M using 5.45

108 is the same as the 107 only 5.56

AN-94 is not a part of the AK family different designer.

the 102, 104 and 105 are short barreled, made for tank crews and such.

There is no AK-106

I'm from Mass, I feel your pain. I can't even own a twenty round magazine in this state. In fact, if it is a new 'assualt rifle' (eg the FN/FNH USA SCAR) I can't have in this state at all because they kept all the Brady Laws from Clinton's administration, permenantly.
