Most social science and other bullshit degrees can be completed in 3 years or less, while most science degrees usually take at least 5 years to realistically complete. Sciences are usually a lot harder too, so the students generally have lower gpa's in the sciences, which lower their chances of getting scholarships. Mix that with the almost complete lack of government funding for college students and tons of student loan sharks, and there aren't many financial reasons to pursue a science degree.

Obama's saying we need to get kids more excited about the sciences, and they're cutting education spending? We spend 15x as much on the military as we do on education and 12x as much on welfare and unemployment.

Sounds like what the government's really trying to say is that we should be getting excited about joining the army or sitting on our asses all day and doing nothing and getting a monthly welfare check. We don't need to raise taxes, we need to cut bullshit spending.
