I am 35 and was recently diagnosed as having Asperger Syndrome. Whilst reading up on AS and Autism, I discovered the condition called Dyspraxia and realised that is something I also have. Looking back, there was evidence in my childhood, such as difficulty throwing and catching, difficulty with handwriting, holding my pen/pencil differently to other people, holding my knife & fork differently, difficulty learning how to ride a bike, speech difficulties, etc.
This video was very informative. I am currently doing my dissertation and want to do it on dyspraxia particularly the language and speech difficulties people experience . Looking at teacher awareness of the subject - is there any useful literature you recommend I read ?
I am an newly graduated OT and working with a child with Dyspraxia. This is a very well explained and clear description of the causes of Dyspraxia. Thank you! I shall share this with my newly qualified year group.
im 12 and i have dyspraxia but i didnt realize untill i decided to research it that most of the things that i cant do or struggle to do are because of dyspraxia :(
My son has dyspraxia, and I'm trying to research ways that we can do home therapy to help him. He's 3 and a half, getting speech and OT at his special preschool, but needs more help because he's not meeting his goals. Are there games, toys, or other things we can do with him to help him with his spacial awareness, coordination and fine motor control?
Hi Cassie - There are a great many things that you could be doing right now to help your son. If you would like to email me - RPauc@aol.com - I will send you some information sheets. Best wishes Robin
