The characters for the PS1 GITS game where done PERFECTLY, from the look to the humor so it IS possible to bring it alive, bad art direction & style on behalf of the producers is to blame, not the animators.
Honestly, I liked this OVA a lot better than the 2004 CGI one. It had more of that funky 80s vibe, more cute little moments between Deunan and Bri, and more focus on ESWAT as a team rather than just everything being up to the heroes.
@chuckles9702 try places that sell old stuff from the 80's and 90's if you have any places like that around you, thats where i managed to find my copy
Ah, classic Masamune Shirow. Quite frankly I still love this one better than the Cg movies. It's just too bad all people know of is the CG movies. ;_; That makes me a sad anime fan...
@XxEnslavedNekoxX Too bad the GITS movies where so DULL, compared to the manga that is. And the STYLE..why is it none of them can animate shirows style, the only one that came close was M66 Anime closest to his work yet. All the rest are a million miles off
@wildone106 Shirow's style is ridiculously intricate and detailed. No animation company at the time could have had the budget to animate at such a level. It sucks, i know. But, if you have any of Shirow's manga works look at th drawing therein and then look at the GITS and Applesseed animes. You couldn't come close to that detail on an average budget, nor animators wishing to animate in such grueling detail. Hope this helps. -Sage
