  • You show great skill and courage. We are so proud of you all!!!!

  • I saw this first hand. I was in the Helo hole waiting for our H-60 to come back after the fixed wing recovery. The brave men and women on the Vinson handled that fire without even thinking. Great Job, especially after enduring being on deployment for a while!

  • GOOD JOB!!!! shipmates, all that training paying off....EVERYBODY GOES HOME THE WAY THEY CAME TO WORK...Good Job guys/gals

  • good no one die

  • thats my brother

  • Great work by the bottom right hose team.

  • Американские самолёты посасывают хуйца !!!

  • @RussianCap Российские самолеты ржавеют далеко на основании, и их пилоты слишком выпиты, чтобы лететь!

  • Liked this because the timely response to the casualty and that no one was seriously hurt.

  • Bravo Zulu to the USS Carl Vinson crew. Not only was no one injured but they also minimized the potential damage with quick and correct response to the casualty. I'm sure air dept. got that plane up and running again in no time.

  • congrats to everyone air dept. and squadron for fighting that fire well. i can see their training paid off very well. its unfortunate it happen tho, but nonetheless great teamwork.

  • @259racer: Thank you - I did not know these facts.

  • @Nassault630: Thank you sir! I appreciate your noble language! You are a true gentleman!

  • The carrier is the fastest ship in the fleet, but it ain't that fast. Design hull speed is... somewhat faster than published numbers. I'm disinclined to believe news reports that had a carrier arriving that quickly in Japan. Someone is wrong and it is not me.

  • From some of the comments here I assume that they have forgotten that the ship is steaming at about thirty knots INTO the wind so rendering an approach from aft almost impossible-like pissing against the wind!

  • glad to see that everyone responded as though they should. i might of even trained a few of the individuals that helped put out the fire. CONGRATS to all. thats the real way to put out a fire quickly and effecent as possible.

  • Video quality sucks! Don't they have "normal household" video cams at least??

Extinguishing from the front looks pretty stupid I have to say. Why not start from behind?

  • @berndl the video is I.R. and if they would have gone from the back they would have gotten water in the exhaust of the plane and it would be a lot more expensive to fix. even though this plane was on fire its a relatively easy/inexpensive fix

  • @259racer its not an easy fix at all... the whole starboard engine is charred to shit... alll hyd lines to the stab and tailhook actuators are done... easy and inexpensive you have no idea

  • @adctopgun1 its a lot more inexpensive to fix it than it would be to replace it

  • @berndl Lmao, it's infrared you fucking moron. If it was a "normal" camera, it would be pitch black. It's night time, learn some fucking facts. You need to think before you type, fingers off the keyboard.

  • Comment removed

  • @berndl well there a good reason for it if it had bombs or missles.... whats more important to kool off? and if they spray the agent and keep a blanket over the pilot then the fire will be sustained to just the back... =) i would know crash and salvage crewman here.. have a good day/night

  • what a bunch of dumb kids...get the fuck behind the aircraft to put the flames out FFS.

if they had fought the fire properly in the first place that plane would of had less damage and the fire would of been out in a few seconds...WTF

  • @fabforceone You obviously know nothing about fighting fires on a flight deck. If they would stand behind the fire all of the toxic fumes would be inhaled by the firefight crew and they would pass out and die. Also the carrier is still moving forward all of the fire fighting agent that is sprayed would fly right back in there face. You are retarted dont talk when you dont know what you are talking about.

  • @Tpentagrams do you work on an aircraft carrier? Have you ever put out a fire?a camp fire, a house fire, a car fire any fire at all? Do you have any fire training at all? I do! and even little kids have some training when the local fire department comes to schools and lets kids put out the fire and they know that when you use any fire suppression device you point it at the base of the fire.these guys need some more training and i am sure the captain has made sure that this will not happen again

  • @fabforceone your retarded Tpentagrams is right, when those ships move they move at nearly 100 knots. whatever liquid or fire retardant they are usings leaves the hose at a slower speed resulting in a face full of shit. YOU SIR ARE A DUMBASS

  • @259racer listen dumb fuck i'm not saying that they need to stand directly behind the the plane i'm saying that they need to spray the foam at the fire FFS. They are not positioned correctly. I understand the pissing in the wind thing. And i quote from Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class Michael Flosi "Their reactions were almost textbook, Flosi said, adding: “we run into a fire to put it out before it blows up" Almost is the operative word here.

  • @fabforceone they started with a pump and roll went in at a 45 to keep the fire aft of the plane only no big booms= job well done....

  • @259racer an aircraft carrier simply does not cruise anywhere near 100kts...

  • @64wing im sure that they dont when the planes are actually landing and shit, but yes they can go nearly 100 knots. its a military secret theyre exact top speed, but if you calculate how long it took them to get to japan from the US after the earthquake it was almost EXACTLY 104 MPH which is roughly 90 knots.

  • @259racer May I inquire as to your sources from which you draw these numerical figures and military secrets, sir?

  • @64wing

I suspect, I mean I'm not sure here but I suspect it's from his or someone else's arse.

100kt carriers?! They'd have to slow right down to let the aircraft recover without exceeding VLE! ;-) And they could ditch the arresting gear too..

  • @64wing yea its called......NATIONAL TELEVISION. they did a segment on the japan crisis (what a surprise) and they were sayin it took roughly 53 hours for them to get to japan on the big carriers with supplies. well japan is approximately 5,500 miles away. not calculating the acceleration and deceleration time of the carrier or the weight. just plug in the numbers u get 103.77 MPH which is roughly 90.374 knots. WAY TO SUCK DICK RETARD

  • @259racer um yeah...that math might be right if you knew exactly where the carrier was departing from. A modern aircraft carrier can cruise at 50kts tops (on a good day). How do I know this? My good friend from high school is a nuclear propulsion engineer for the NAVY (has been since 2004). I think my sources are quite a bit more reliable than yours. By the way, I am a pilot with multiple ratings and hours over many years of experience. I think my buddy and I dwarf your TV-based "knowledge."

  • @64wing no matter where in california it departed from it will be relative close to the same numbers. and im not sayin that national tv is always right im just sayin if it is, then the calculations are definately right, and that is SICK that your friend is in the nuke program. thats exactly what i plan on doin. im hopin to get to MEPS this month

  • @259racer Right on man, I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your endeavor. For some very detailed information regarding the abilities of our carriers (and others) check this link out. It would serve you well to become more solidly educated before getting into your desired program. GO NAVY!

  • ok for some reason the link is just taking a shit :s YouTube doesn't like me posting that kind of stuff I guess lol

  • @64wing ok so i went out and bout the Bluejacket's Manual there is a SHIT ton of stuff in that book. and how long does it usually take to get sent to Great Lakes after MEPS

  • @259racer lol well after you get poked, prodded, yelled at, and sworn in (usually that will take around 2 days) shipping out to the Great Lakes region (my stomping/flying grounds) is relatively swift. I can't give you an exact number of days or hours since it has likely been changed since Dave went through and I had always been looking into the officer programs. But I can promise that it will be exciting, and nerve wrecking.

  • @64wing ok and would you suggest me doing a machinist mate nuclear or just a regular one cuz everything i find on internet is a bunch of ppl saying how much they hate bein in the nuke program cuz they never get to leave the ship or nething

  • @259racer

Being a nuke sucks but would I do it again....? Probably....

You go in for 6 years, learn some stuff. If its for you, stay in. If not, get your honorable discharge, transfer to the DD-214 and use your education benefits.

I am proud that I served and the experiences (good, bad, other) will shape you as a person regardless what rate you choose.

    CVN-70 Rx Dept. M Div 2004-08

    MM2 (NUKE/SW) 2002-08

  • @mjwatts1983 if you dont like bein a nuke can go from bein like a machinest mate nuke to just a machinest mate or do u have to either stick it out or get discharged

  • @tipsy3T You are absolutely right sir...I don't know where I got 50kts :s I think I just hit the wrong key over here (I have a netbook and big fingers lol). Reading over my previous post again certainly raises some red flags with the numbers! 32kts is much more correct. Sorry for my mix-up :s And thank you sincerely for your service. GO NAVY!

  • Looking at this video with some knowledge of Navy launch & recovery ops, one can see it's a fuel fire. Whatever is leaking, when the tailhook strikes the deck, sparks ignite it (one can see it flowing forward under the a/c.

Yes, Priority #1: save ppl #2: the ship #3: the a/c.

The a/c is NOT lost: crew will fix the body, engines, hydraulics & electronics. And plane handlers will clean it all up.

Amazing Fact: nearly all the young men & women shown are only 1-2 years out of high school. Kudos!

  • gozie better than youtube, lay of the crack stevie wonder

  • @LachelleDominguez267 Gozie actually sucks...their database is nothing compared to youtube. Sorry bud.

  • Well done.

  • Burn bitches burn.

  • Wow I cant believe some of these comments. Lets see your ass get out there and do what these brave men and women do day in and day out go 8months or longer without seeing your family or friends. Thats right your not because your too busy on youtube mocking the brave who are protecting your ass day in and day out. My husband is one of the many on board the USS CARL VINSON. Hes also a part of VFA 113 maybe you should be thanking these people instead of talking shit

  • Billions of dollars and thats the best camera they have?

  • @JoserPwndU you wanna buy them one???

  • Nicely done! How come though they cannot afford a color camera?

  • @Tostitos78 recorded through some sort of infrared camera.

  • Go navy a bunch third classand airmen TCB,,,,

  • Gozie is full of viruses and spyware. Bunch of scammers trying to drain your bank accounts.

  • is this from the 1950s?

  • @ExitInGreen It was from about 2 weeks ago. In support of operations in Libya I think.

  • @MrYoubrian nope it happened on the 14th

  • @kney05 Was it in the Med?

  • Swatus@ what are you crazy? The loss of over a thousand people would be funny to you.

  • that would be funny if that jet exploded and sank that ship....hahah...Wishing to see that happened in the future !

  • the tv monitor reminds me of something i saw on an AmericanAirlines flight......wtf??

  • war mother fuckers

  • Interesting channel, I didn't realise that the U.S. Navy broadcasts on Youtube! *****

  • u think the military would have HD colour cameras by now

  • @yaHARmeMATEY I think that might be an I.R. camera

  • "get the fuck behind the aircraft to put the flames out FFS." that DOESN'T mean to stand behind the plane? explain. and if something is done ALMOST text book that means there is no possible way under those circumstances that it could have been done ANY better

  • whats with the minnows flying across the screen

  • WTF?

  • who the hell is Carl Vinson and what did he do to merit a vessel named after him?

  • Hooyaah damage control

  • that's what happens when parts are made in China.

  • With a $15billion pricetag on the aircraft carrier, they can't even install a decent camera on deck. Everything is overpriced and are getting damned screwed, and my tax got wasted everyday.

  • @cass2chk This camera is a flight deck surveillance camera which is designed to provide a usable image day and night for the officers monitoring flight operations. It is recorded 24/7 which does take a lot of space, but as you can see it does exactly what it is supposed to do. I'm sure if you write your congressman with an offer to fund the cameras and equipment, the Navy would be happy to have 1080 HD cameras rolling 24/7 to capture the next life-threatening mishap for your enjoyment.

  • Fire on the poopdeck!

  • @benderbg lol, ur retarded

  • shut the f*** up about Gozie.com. If you not like YouTube then what r you doing on here?? Get out of my face please.

  • that F-18 is Charlie Sheen

  • Gozie sucks ass juice u guys just want people to go to ur dumb ass website that nobody ever heard about

  • @TheToxic163 It's the same person making new accounts, which makes it even more stupid.

  • Gozie is full of spyware. They want your bank account numbers!!!

  • i told him not to try to do burn out on the deck... :s

  • atleast it gave them something to do then sit there waiting for a war

  • @ThePerfectnailz

***More U.S. sailors died while transporting troops to the first gulf war than ALL of the combat troops in the war. And yet the American public never knew.

The USS Stark was hit by a missile and many were burned in their sleep or were lost at sea.

The USS Iowa had an explosion in the 23" gun room. Few survived.

The USS Forrestal and the USS Independence were national tragedies.

Our sailors die every month in support ops. Support ALL OF THE TROOPS, not just some.

  • Being a 2 time graduate of Naval shipboard firefighting school & ex Nimitz ships company I'd have to say "Take a knee and get the underside". Other than that it's out and out is out.

  • Dude, how long does it take man ?!

  • gives new meaning to word afterburners

  • Impressive work guys, well done.

Spraying a hose into a 30 knot headwind ain't easy, watch the guys on the left of the plane.

  • @Nanaijo3 If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  • YOUTUBE FOR LIFE , GOZIE IS SHIt!!!

  • @lovestruckstudent Ummm...... You're using youtube..?

  • GOZIE SUCKS, YOUTUBE 4 LIFE!!!

  • Wow. Sometimes the navy guys get shit from other branches because they never see any "real" combat, which is total bullshit. These sailors are trained to do multiple jobs and do them effectively. This is an awesome video, makes be proud.

  • @SchnauzerVictim The Navy never gets acknowledged for our dead. We sacrifice just the same and the army and Marines get all the credit. The U.S. Coast guard is under appreciated by Americans also.

Remember the USS STARK, USS IOWA, USS FORESTAL, USS INDEPENDENCE.

  • Bravo Zulu. The reason flight deck drills are conducted..

  • Everlasting empire!

  • Nice work guys, see all the men put out that fire! you pussies can't do that!!!

  • So can anyone explain the tactics here?

Is the truck spraying down the intake? Cause from the video viewpoint the fire was in the rear so it begs to wonder why the truck (with the powerful hose) didn't drive toward the rear to put it out? That would have put it out much faster or is priority number one to hose down the intake, or ordinance, or cockpit?

  • @woodycoat I'm not an expert, but Think on it...if it sprayed as you say, it would spread the flames toward the cockpit, it's not a good idea...

    1st. save lifes,

    2nd. save equipment.

  • Well... I'd hate to have to clean that up

  • h5y. WTF is wrong with you. if you live in the US than I will personally kick you the fuck out of it

  • @Mattchannels Lol, Did they not teach you grammar at your school, perfect example of americans.

  • @serzh123aaa shut your anti-American ass up. you better act right before you get smacked right. dont stereotype America off of a youtube grammar mistake. get a hobby

  • Damn.. that american f-18 can't kill any more innocent civilians/kids :( you americans must be disappointed by that!

  • @h5y Where are you from? I can guaranty your country is not that perfect either.

  • Nice knock down!

  • AFFF is a sailor's (and airman's) best friend. Proud to be ret. Navy. Well done to the crew who pounced on that flaming bird like it was liberty.

  • Taxpayer money up in smoke... vote Tea Party !

  • now that's a lot of seamen!

  • That F-18 is now on ebay.

  • well there goes 80 million dollars up in smoke

  • Good training saves lives.

  • Excellent teamwork - well done!

  • great work by V-1 personal... being a former ABH i'm proud to see such great response to a aircraft fire. Hell, i know i served 5 years on a carrier and nothing like this ever happened but we were always ready. That's how we practiced it tho!

  • Good Job Boys!! Nice Job!

  • Comment removed

  • Those are heavily constructed cameras. This high quality gucci crap you get at Best Buy these days would rust out in 3 weeks when out to sea.

  • 20 seconds for the truck to respond and 1 minute for hose team, great job guys, glad you guys are ok. and ya, its an aircraft carrier, the navy isnt going to spend thousands of dollars for flight deck cameras where its dangerous.

  • I don't know how anyone can watch an F-18 land on a pitching carrier at night, watch it burst into flames and then put out without any casualties, and somehow figure out a way to complain about the state of military technology. I, for one, was amazed. In Soviet Russia everyone would have died, but the footage would have been fantastic!

  • @obscenecommenter That was daylight, not night. Don't let the aging camera recorded on a magnetic tape fool you for Spectrum IR Nightvision.

  • @Nanaijo3 Meh, I'm still impressed.

  • @Nanaijo3 ikr

  • expect taxes to go up to pay for it

  • Bravo Zulu to the flight deck crew for getting this put out so quickly!! GO NAVY!!

  • This is a different incident than the one from a couple weeks ago on the USS John C. Stennis (engine explosion prior to launch); as far as I know, there were no injuries associated with this particular fire.

  • Does anyone know how the sailors are that got hurt during this fire? Regardless of the "quality" of the video...thank you for posting it. It shows the efficiency of the crew at getting the fire put out so quickly. I don't need disasters in living color with sound...just glad that no one was killed. And that the fire happened on the deck and not after the plane was in the air. Bravo Zulu to the crew for fast work!

  • @CrdFilth666 Thanks to the fast response no one was hurt.

  • I wonder how many gallons of AFFF they used on the plane?

  • @archangel5884 Enough - it's cheaper than the aircraft and pilot. :)

  • What's with the poor camera? This isn't 1955.

  • @Nanaijo3 you're kidding... right?

  • @devianaut Alright, fine, maybe not 1955 but 1972 if they're using a "digital" version with magnetic tapes.

    Seriously... wtf? It's 2011!

  • @Nanaijo3 yeah, i totally know what you're saying. but you have to understand... the military uses a great deal of old tech still. some of it is because it has to be durable... and other reasons are... they're just cheap, haha. i'm not dissing the military by any means... but if you could see just how many dell pc's they have...! ;)

  • @Nanaijo3 This camera is a flight deck surveillance camera which is designed to provide a usable image day and night for the officers monitoring flight operations.

  • @GoAnywherePhotos that doesnt explain why it looks like a 1920s movie, surely a better camera can be used for no extra cost

  • @jayrobson88

Where can I get one of those free cameras??

  • @GoAnywherePhotos Navy spend over $30,000 for a missile but they can't spend a lousy 100 bucks for more of a updated camera which has night vision?

  • @Nanaijo3 try shooting that with a normal camera... that is night vision

  • @Nanaijo3 Hey buddy, did you know our country is trillions of dollars in the deficit. I'm sure you wouldn't wanna pay for HD cameras for all 300+ ships in the U.S Navy out of tax payers money. Yeah thought so, so be happy with the black and white.

  • @snave31 I think you missed the point. Only if US has a "proper" spending system.

  • @Nanaijo3

Where can I get a night vision camera for $100? I'll take 10 of them right now!

  • @GoAnywherePhotos Genius reply, well played sir.

  • @Nanaijo3 get some glasses, Did you miss something?....I managed to see what was going on...

  • @fjbutch Might be a good idea to avoid replying to comments that you have no idea what my comment was actually about. So you can avoid looking like an idiot. :)

Clearly, the point was about the money and keeping things up to date, not how I can't see anything going on in the video.

  • @Nanaijo3 I know what you on about mate, but why spend money needlessly, when the AHO can easily still see or review any problems that occur on the flight deck....just makes sense to me...

  • Hooyah AFFF!

  • What a boss.
