I didn't understand how you separated the tank. Take a look at my quadruple betta tank, it's also divided, but I did it with sandblasted glass so the fishes don't see each other!
They are two separate tanks next to each other. One is on my desk, the other on a small chest of drawers. Both fish have now been moved to different rooms due to the flooring being redone.
They are, I love 'em to bits. The video is very dark, they are very bright colours. Ozzy pretty much does that all day. He was kept in a small plastic cup at the aquarium, I think he's enjoying the ability to swim.

Beautiful Betta! Ever think of adding some more fish? Platys and siamese flying fox are great companions.
