  • Tolerance instead of repentance is being taught in today's motivational, innovative, humanistic teaching, preaching of another gospel, apostate, deluded churches. Therefore God sends a "famine" for hearing the Word of God [Amos 8:11-12]; a "strong delusion" because the church and its leaders and church members do not want or desire to receive biblical truth. Many [Matt. 7:13-14] and I am speaking exclusively to those in the church are resisting and disabling truth call themselves Christians.

  • and the myriad of other church leaders following and "imitating" the Spirit-inspired example of the Church that God created? No, adamantly no. Because as 1 Tim.4:1 states, the majority of contemporary preachers, teachers, reverends, ministers, televangelists, evangelists, prophet-liars (male and female) proclaim the doctrines of demons to their obstinate, stiff-necked, hardened-in-heart church (social club) members. Church people treat Jesus as a genie in a bottle. Today's church is a harlot.

  • does all this "apostate" agendas have to do with what the Bible commands the Church and its church members(who are called to be disciples/pupils/students of the Word of God? Nothing at all. James 4:4, says, "You adulterers and adulteresses, friendship with the world is ENMITY against God, and whoever desires to be a friend of the world makes themselves an ENEMY of God." The church in the Book of Acts is the "blueprint" for the church [Acts 2:40-47; 4:32-37]. But, do you see Osteen, Jakes,Warren

  • and does he boldly proclaim the gospel or a watered down version as his counterpart Osteen. NO. He brings in secular corporate sponsors, secular singers, rappers, and the ilk to perform and entertain the people. Rick Warren, the creator of the "Purpose driven church and life" the innovator of the megachurch, who talks with heads of state, has secular movie stars, athletes, entertainers, etc speak in his church to bring in the ear-tickled, desire to be entertained "what he call seekers". What

  • @truth1disciple Nah you just spiritually feel lack in your own ministry. That's why you are so angry and feel the need to pick apart other people's. To put it plainly, you are envious, and because of that you've allowed the devil to weasel his way into your life- letting him get a foothold into it. Instead seek God and stop worrying about everyone else's ministry and ask him what your's is instead of trolling on youtube.

  • Yes, the statement he is making is right to the point. Look at Joel Osteen having all these secular venues to "proclaim the Jesus and the good news of the Bible", but he doesn't. Why? Because he wants to "seeker friendly" with the world, so they will purchase his books, attend his "Evening with Joel and Victoria" meeting at venues throughout the U.S (he charges from $50 to $70 for admittance). T.D. Jakes and his annual GospelFest in Atlanta, GA,. The festival brings in 200,000 to 300,000 people

  • The church in America is a mess. Competition, consumerism and corporate America have infiltrated the church and left us with something very different than what we see in the Bible. You might want to check out the book "Steeple Envy - Losing my Religion and Rediscovering Jesus by Victor Cuccia. He talks about this subject in depth.

  • Great video; i do wish pastor armstrong had not added joel osteen to the list of the dr. phil's and oprahs. Joel is a christian who has the gift of encouragement. ; his should not be for the immature Christian; a seasoned Christian CAN benefit from his message................not for the masses.........only for the discerning spiritual heart.

  • And there shall be a falling away first before the son of perdition is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3, just about says it all).

  • of course the older people here complaining about biblically illiterate youth will think that their arid mere doctrinal (as opposed to believing the doctrine and going to the relationship the doctrine commands) had nothing to do with youthful apostasy.

we elders are hypocrites. youth have always seen this and reject not our unbelief, but our doctrines.

and we are shocked? let us look in the mirror instead of at the younger generation, who are only calling it as they see it

  • the state of the church has almost always been bankrupt. today it is self indulgent heresy but yesterday it was brutal self annihiliating legalism.

todays church is simply more honest. and the honesty is depraved and selfish

my knowledge of church history shows me that the church is the best argument for atheism there is

or do these people recommend the rule of St Benedict, which is horrifying legalism

  • Remember brothers and sisters Peter and Paul were not apart of any religous circles.. real christains dont follow religion they have a personal relationship.. Division is the art of the devil united we stand divided we fall

  • relationship with jesus how do you find jesus in he gospels in john jesus says i am the true vine you are the branches if you bear fruit my father prunes you if you dont you are cut off and thrown in the father interpretationwe are in chrst living the christian life with fellowship between him and us he is our mediator between us and the father he is in the father and we are in him so he is messiah thats what being a christian is being about RELATIONSHIP RELATIONSHIP RELATIONSHIP !!!!

  • Stfu up gay ass republicant

  • PROTESTANTISM apparently failed. From heresies to heresies to heresies, and permeated like amoeba that tries to duplicate itself, each copy become less from the original. What is the original ? The 4 Churches of the ancient times. When Protestants read the early church fathers, the ones who are honest become Orthodox or Catholics and abandon Protestant heresies man made feel good religions. Return to the true faith, heretics. You don't know the truth !

  • @FishEaster Protestantism is a very general topic... you really can't put Christians under anything smaller because everybody will see the bible differently...

  • Sad But True, Im glad i didnt came out like that

  • This is not a christian nation, for nations are creations of men. Look at a picture of Earth as seen from space. There are no borders. Yet every fourth of July we pull out the flag and salute. We need to pull out the Bible and read Christ's teachings. And we need to keep Christ in mind when we read the old testament because I got big questions there. There's moral values in there but there is also war being favored by God. Why would the Father of Jesus condone war or a certain elect people?

  • You must also realize that Christ did not favor religion, government, money, business, military, etc. These are institutions created by men who want to be gods and want to control the masses. And those things are falling apart right now and the only solution is love, compassion, and service to others. Are we to be proud of being Americans, or are we to be proud of being children of God?

  • The outside world is only a reflection of what's inside our own psyche. You must realize that Jesus wants you to find the Christ within yourself in order to conquer the sinner within in you also. The church cannot do this for you, it is a journey that is personal to you.

  • Most churches today are Arminian, the belief that man is basically good. Does the Bible teach this? No, there is none good, no not one. We should be in repentance 24/7 and reading the Word, but then no one will attend - no difference between the church and the world today.

  • Any church that has a foundation of strong biblical doctrine and a staff that does it's best to instruct the body with a biblical viewpoint and encourages them to know and read their Bibles; will be a strong and growing church that provides light in a dark world of biblical ignorance.

  • The church is very much lukewarm. There is a lot of adultry and divorce and christians don't live very separated lives. But, I don't feel preachers are addressing these issues. I hear a lot of sermons about 'working', but not a lot about the need to be close to God. If we get close to God, the other issues would not be as much of an issue.

  • My ENTIRE church is going through this stuff right now. I thought it was just pride consuming me, and maybe I was judging them too harshly. I was wrong. My sister and I are constantly praying for our friends. We have seen them all go through a lot and it causes us much grief. I don't know what to do, other than pray and be a Daniel(stand up for what is right no matter what). The problem i am facing now is: Should I be like John the Baptist and Elijah(Telling people what they are doing is wrong)?

  • I go to a healthy church it took me 20 years to find one!

  • hey 2Roo7ted, i kinda like your theories...just one thing that bothers me...on what evidence do you base ur philosophy? on what research? based on what statistics? for what era?.....should we follow a holy book who's claims has been proven and tested in the lives of billions for over two thousand years......or should we follow you??....hey.....have you found The savior Jesus Christ? cause if you swallow your pride and ask him, he will not turn you away......love you, man

  • Gospel is the word of God, Well the Muslims say the Quarn is the word of God. Hmm who do I believe? Both the Gospel and the Quarn came out of man, so they are the words of Religion. The Bible tells of Prophecies, Adam and Eve sinned, mankind was cursed, and Once Jesus has returned the curse will be over, because the lesson of David would had been learnt. Jesus is the spirit of unconditional love for mankind, not the Gospel. Revelation, final prophecy, final phase of the lesson of David.

  • Jesus is a shiny Crystal, which man waves before stupid and says, Jesus loves you accept me as your God. Wacco, David used this to make him their God. The Pope uses it, in fact many Churches uses this, that is why stupid ends up as the Preacher's parrot.

Church is Lucfiers home. Religion is the only tool he has to turn Man away from worshipping the true God and worship him. Hence why Religions are forever fighting over souls. This century be filled with religous wars. Religion Is Evil.

  • tear the businesses down too... and the houses

  • Out of curriosity, if one is happy and feels his/her life is full, why exactly do we need to know all about Jesus? And if he was such a great "teacher" why aren't there any other history books written about him? Why only the bible?

  • he writings of Jesus Christ are not changed for centuries, and is the one and only meste, whose followers diverted write psycho-help, self-help philosophies, among others plagiarizing the Bible and give the other approaches from the biblical principles - ROSEMARY BY BRAZIL

  • No offense, but I happen to be a non-believer, and am happy to see this trend. I do see a lot of people memorizing a few of their favorite biblical verses and not knowing much of anything else and then calling themselves good Christians. It's kind of bad when I, an atheist, seem to have more of an understanding of what a believer is supposed to know.

  • That is a very damning comment at the modern christian, but very true.

  • come to JESUS

you know what you are supposed to do and be!

look not at us to have your pattern of faith and practice but look at JESUS

i am not making an excuse but i just look at JESUS because i am gonna stand before HIM AND NOT BEFORE THE ONES WHO CLAIM TO BE HIS FOLLOWERS

JUST REPENT OF YOUR SINS AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL!

  • I was a christian for about 20 years. When I began to question what I believed in I realized that there was nothing supporting it. There isn't any evidence.

I keep an open mind. If evidence were to present itself, I would believe in a second. But for some reason we have developed a shield for religious exploration in this country. Closely examining religion with open criticism is frowned upon in this country.

  • I agree 100%! I think the "moderate" Chritians think their faith is full of love and understanding (based on those few biblical verses they like); however, that just proves to me they haven't read their bible.

  • Faith is a gift not an object of consumption that is acquired by culture or attachments to religions or philosophies vain.

So people have difficulties in understanding and living a genuine faith that unravel the mysteries of spiritual EXCLUSIVE TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE. Maybe that's why you're out of communion with God. Too bad because you could already be enjoying the supernatural accorded to CHRISTIAN!! May God have mercy of you ...

  • I'm so sorry for you thinking in this way.

  • Without the truth poeple will continue to be apostate what is there to be sorry about?

  • You don't need religion if you have a conscience.

  • Hey Lane, is it okay if I post this video on a christian messageboard?

  • What I see as a foundational problem is that 99% of "churches" have been steered away from having Jesus and the Word of God as their sole authority. They have chosen to also be placed under the authority of the state by entering into a contract with them through a 501-c-3 agreement, in exchange for subsidies. I liked how one of the first speakers on the video compared it to the fast food industry. All these "churches" are competing for religious market share, catering to what people want.

  • Is there room in this discussion for Jesus' words, "I will build My church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it."? Granted the contemporary "church" is a mess. But, just as Christianity has always identified schisms and sects that claim to be Christian, we may have reached the point where modern evangelicalism needs to be marked as a sub-biblical sect and not the genuine article. Meanwhile, the church that Christ is building is just fine, by His grace, power, and faithfulness.

  • Amen.

  • @SBGGCA I agree, I'm currently talking to friends right now about the "relevance" issue and how the gospel alone has power and how we should just let God work.

  • Comment removed

  • I couldn't agree more with many of the interviewees in this segment. The current state of the church is in shambles, but like the US economy, it has been able to hide its failings with illusions of grandeur. But like the US economy, there is always a day of reckoning.

  • How about orthodoxy concerning marriage, family and gender roles!? Yet this video condones women teachers? NOT only should we read the bible, we should believe it! If we don't submit, then we undermine the relevance of scripture. Then you are left asking "why don't people know the bible or care what it says?". Repent! And get some balls men! Stop being wishy washy man fearing! Or should I say woman fearing feminist garbage.

  • Churches are out to please the people and not God. Even churches are striving to be politically correct. What about biblically correct? People go to be entertained and not to worship. Christians keep quiet instead of speaking up for God. That is the same as denying Him.

  • the people in this video are right-on. the church is slowly dying. many reasons but people are tired of the same fairy-tale stories and feeling like shepps every sunday am

  • The only true it's Orthodoxy, all the allodox nations open your eyes and came back to the glory of Eastern Orthodoxy.

    Kyrie Eleyson.

  • It seems you have had a bad experience in a church or with your former religion. It is not child abuse to teach you child about God. To learn about God is a gift, for doing as He says will earn us eternal life. The bible teaches love and goodness. Hell is where those who do not do what is right go. It is the same concept as punishing your child for misbehaving and rewarding them for good behavior. How is that sinful? It teaches our children to be good people.

  • But doesn't everyone go to hell? I mean even Jesus & his followers broke some of the commandments.

Heck, didn't God commit adultery by impregnating another mans wife? Maybe God is in hell too. Might explain why the world is so horrid without his guidence since Satan is burning his omipotent nipples off in the underworld.

  • NO they didn't break any commandments. God isn't in hell either. Hell is the absence of God.

  • "Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?

If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there." -Psalm 139:7,9

  • That is really an evil and sad thing to say. So you want all the good God abiding Christians to die, so people who are angry and miserable like you can dominate the world. What an awful and miserable earth this would be. What have Christians done to you other than share God's word in hopes that you too could inherit the kingdom of heaven.

  • Need to Preach the Gospel!! Christians are Biblically illiterate today!! The go on sound bytes of the "Word" That it!!

  • I have to agree with that. To read the bible is enlightening. To take the bible out of context is meaningless. People judge the bible without even reading it. They go to psychologist and resort to medication to solve problems instead of seeking God and His teachings. When they feel empty, they don't realize how fulfilling God's word can be.

  • So many people run around professing to be christian and really want to have nothing to do with the God of the bible, call themselves saved because they mumbled some little evangelical rite (or the sinners prayer) then when the promised persecution comes they get mad at God, mad at the people who lied to them and as far as they are concerned it will be a long time before they will want to have anything to do with God again

  • the reason why People got the idea that if you become a christian you will get a better life is because, if you are saved by God, you have A BETTER LIFE. (perhaps not by this worlds standard)

  • I agree.

  • (Mostly) polite Atheist here. A lot of Christians I talk religion or Bible passages and stories with shock me with their lack of Bible knowledge. I've thought that maybe these Christian folk who aren't as informed as others maybe aren't really into studying the minutiae as much as I am (literary and world religion interests) or the folks in this vid (wanting to know a lot about their personal religion). Not all Christians can be preachers or professors. :) Cut them a bit of slack.

  • Our only hope is to pray that God will send another great awakening to open the blurry eyes of the church.

  • i dont know if i need to pray for this or myself, but lately i have felt like leaving my church, and not attending any church any more, and just focusing on reading the word, and waiting on the Lord for guidance, i feel like church altogether has become wishy washy, come let me tell u how to be a better christian. christianity is easy, i think its called easy believism

  • I have been very edified by Bible study tools which I have come across on the internet (oh but beware of the false teaching laying in wait to decieve). I came across an online Bible with many features at

    blueletterBible(dot)org

also a free Bible program at

    e-Sword(dot)net

and a downloadable Greek OT interlinear (with "Strong's numbers") at

    septuagint-interlinear-greek-bible(dot)com(forwardslash)platformSIGB(dot)htm

and an online Webster's Dicionary of 1828 at

    1828(dot)mshaffer(dot)com

  • Feel free to send a e-mail/message if you are interested, I have a few more links which I have come across that may be of help in studying the Holy Scriptures. One of sites I utilize often is of a classic devotional called "Daily Light on the Daily Path".

  • Amen. Evidence of this is clearly seen via this last election. The serpent has not changed his ways, and the woman still finds the fruit appealing to the eyes and good for food.

  • amen!

  • We disregard that God is primarily a HOLY God and there is no indepth Bible study. Good deep honest sinchallenging preaching using the Bible and believing its the literal word of God - not thinking we know better.

  • When it comes time to suffer for Christ is when it will be made obvious whose side we are on.

  • I find it hard to believe that it's really worse than I even thought it was....

  • Praise God, people see it.

  • why don't you ask God through Jesus?

  • crazy!!!

  • I have to agree with carpenter's daughter. There is a great falling away happening and they are more interested in riches and a feel good gospel, not the true gospel, of salvation from our sins through Jesus Christ. They are not taught about spiritual warfare. Their focus is too much on this world, but we are not citizens here but in heaven. This world passeth away.

  • The visible "church" does not know what the truth is. The real church, the bride of Christ, the body of Christ, is not perfect, but she is waiting intently for her Savior to call her home.

  • Very interesting video! I agree that it's an issue of looking at the "true church" vs the unconverted "thinking" they are Christian? IE, the results of the church failing or being perfect, is Gods work, the true church is a beautiful bride, eagerly waiting! Is it possible that everything is working out exactly the way God planed it to be? IE, that by this "problem", it's intended to bring the highest and most glory to Jesus Christ, and may be exactly what we need for a true reformation?

  • Someone should send this video to Joel Osteen and Benny Hinn

  • and to most pastors in the Omaha Nebraska area

many act like Osteen and Hybels knockoffs

  • Excellent post, Lane. This is so important for the church to hear and we must be examining ourselves corporately as much as we do individually.

  • Amen bberchin

  • Are we talking about the universal body of Christ or the American extension of the body of Christ? I agree with this video as concerning the American extension of the body of Christ.

  • I think the mega churches do not promote true Christian Fellowship like Acts 2 teaches.

  • I loved the short Video, I only hope that Reformed churches across this land would not only see this, but finally "Get it" !! God help us! M.R.

  • why is scot mcknight in this clip?

he is part of the emergent church cult

and is one of the people who has contributed to the watering down and dumbing down of churches

  • Hey roger Olson and Marva Dawn are on it as well. It should be a shame when even those people see something wrong. (Olson is ok, he is Arminian though).

  • most of the churches here in Omaha Nebraska have become seeker-sensitive

    and joel osteen like

glad someone is condemning this seeker-sensitive garbage

  • The majority of todays churches are run by feelings and experiences. Whether or not those experieces is backed by scripture or not doesn't seem to matter anymore. Todays church, or most of them are being led by teachers who could care less about the truth of God's word, and for this, I have no church home.

  • So true carpentersdaughter2 and horribly sad. It has gotten so bad that there is a church 5 miles away from where I live here in Maine, that has a pastor who recently was divorced and now living a gay lifestyle and the congregation is fine with it. I am hearing more and more of ungodly things happening more in churches than ever before. But you know I think if we believers that are truly standing on Gods word as a way of life, everyday share the truth we can make a difference. God bless. Jim

  • I believe what we are seeing is a falling away from truth as Jesus and Paul said it would be. It is such a sad and heartbreaking thing to see. I am a member of a prophecy site where there are at least two thousand members, and a good portion of them left their church because of the false teachings that the pastor brought in.

  • Do you have the same username on Godtube? I think I know you!

  • This whole church system of today is by the majority run by feelings, what feels good to "me". This is basically the new age infiltrated because that is exactly what they believe. Because of the lack of the true walk of the Lord and serious lack of discernment of the Lord these things have entered in and have been given free reign. Is it taught that a true christian will suffer in this life? No it is not.

2Ti 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

  • AMEN!!! I think it's time for Christ Centered Gospel preaching churches to finially go on the march and actively campain to take back all the sheep who have slipped into the cracks of these EVIL market driven seeker sensitive and emergent churches and rescue all of the bretherean who got sucked into these churches. Then open up a polimical warfare against these false churches like the Fundamantalism vs Modernism polemics of the 20s and 30s!!!

  • Thanks for posting another great video. When will America wake up? If we the church body would get back to seeking Him, get in the word every day and meditate on it we would know Him. People have gotten away from that and rely on pastors etcalone to teach them. People this is your eternal well being we are talking about. Read His word daily so when you go to church you will know if you are listening to a false teacher. Thanks again LaneCh, and may God richly bless you. Jim

  • The apostate church of the creature comforted, is NOT the Body Of Christ. The Body Of Christ is filled with the Holy Ghost and holds to the truth of the gospel which IS the power, (Romans 1:16-17).

  • Jesus said that the gates of hell will not prevail against His Church. The Church is made of genuine believers-since Jesus' time till the end of the world. Maybe the "Church" in NA is failing, but the underground and the persecuted church in Asia and Islamic Countries is growing strong, and so, the Church is global. But Jesus will not let His Bride down-He will come after Her. If we keep His teachings, we are His Bride. Let us press on to know the Lord-Hosea Chapter 6.

  • This is exactly what my wife and I have been speaking about. Great video. I'm going to try to bring this to the rest of our pastoral staff and elders.

  • Someone said to me. I'll take my christianty because my christianty is happy and excicting. I think she's offened because I left the pentecostal/charasmatic movment for the reformed or Clavinist belief. So she things it sad and well boring.

  • It is quite heart-breaking, but in 30 years tops, the great majority of those close to my age, including and especially a majority of those who profess Jesus as lord, will send this country to hell in a hand basket. Thanks for posting these videos, Lane, God be praised and rejoice in the Lord always.

  • Amen. Truth. An indictment.

  • All who know the Shepherds voice, are hearing this concern in their spiritual ears.

Thanks for posting a timely and vital topic for the church. It's time to pray !

  • For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. II Timothy 4:3,4

  • Profound, what so sad is when you sit in on a Bible Study or a Sunday School class, is no one seems to be inquisitive, I have a multitude of questions that I could ask, but you know how people get when the same person asks questions! Jesus said (paraphrasing) Take my yoke, and learn of me. But not too many are interested in doing so.

    Great Video!

  • The original "fall" of mankind, was to seek improvement at the "self-help" section of paradise...

  • America gets a: fail

  • Christianity... is the great self-disclosure of God concerning his essence and divine attributes in the midst of the worst sin, rebellion and perversion ANYONE could ever imagine. Christianity is God's BOAST in the presence of Principalities and Powers who betrayed him. The great triumph in the midst a cosmic "war zone." The Gospel, is not only the "good news" of forgiveness...but also God's refutation against his accusers of being a selfish, ego-maniacal dictator. God IS LOVE-

  • The Gospel is that God IS LOVE and that his love goes beyond the "philosophical," being itself action, which is TRUE LOVE. God, who in his very essence is LOVE, went to such extremes as to take the blame for our trespasses, dying on a cross, paying in his own incarnation the penalty due to us in our behalf. Then he loved us so much, he rose again from the dead, assuring us that his love is not only eternal, but also palpable, real.

  • I really don't know who these people are talking about. They sure don't seem to be talking about the beloved bride of Christ Jesus. She's OK. She's not suffering from any of what these people are saying.

Maybe they're all talking about those to whom Jesus will say " I never knew you:"

  • I think that's a valid assessment in most cases. Prayerfully, though, some of them they are talking about will repent and believe before their time here is over.

  • Absolutely! Every member should just keep preaching the finished work of Christ Jesus and give testimony of how he did it for us.

Thanks for posting this sad commentary.

  • Very Good Grasshopper. The bride of Christ is beautiful. She is alive and thriving. She will never perish and Gods house will be full! The ones who are seeking His face are His bride. If the others don't come around then they weren't His sheep to begin with. God Bless

  • I think when they talk about the Church being in a terrible state, they are refering to those who claim to be Christian...you know, the whole doctrine of visible church vs. invisible church. In regards to the reprobates, they claim to be of us(visible church), but they aren't of us and never were of us(invisible church).

  • I agree.

  • They are talking about the majority of churches calling themselves "Christian". In the area I live in there are perhaps 2 churches out of 50 that actually preach the whole counsel of God.

I often think about the conference I attended in Cottonwood AZ with Dr. James White. The teaching was outstanding and there were maybe 20 men attending. I couldn't believe it.

  • I thought that the context of this video was one of what the world would perceive of 'the church'. When non-Christians associate themselves with the Church it makes the Church look bad. capital 'C' Church, not 'c'hurch.

Its a horrible experience when a sinner is convicted of sin. Its taboo in some churches to even mention it. We talk about sin, the holy spirit can move, we let the goats know that they are goats, warn them of the coming wrath, when they repent, then they will have life
