I think this is why Max didnt win. He mixed to many newer dance styles with his preformence, and the whole thing is supposed to be a Charlesston competition.

Also to say Black people created the dance is just plain ignorant. They simply made a refined style of the Charlesston, called AL & Leon Style. People pick up a history book and educate yourselves before making stupid comments.

@MusiqheadRadio I don't know that that is the particular reason. Most of what you see in any Charleston contest isn't actual Charleston, but a lot Jazz movement mixed in with Charleston. I don't see why throwing in a little Top Rock would knock him down a few points, especially when so much of break dancing and hip hop is descended from various Jazz movements and Charleston in the first place.

@MusiqheadRadio I think Sharon was a little crisper and cleaner in her movement in general, and that's a very unique thing to find amongst solo Charleston dancers since so many of them tend to be spastic and sloppy looking in their enthusiasm and need for speed, and the judges rewarded her for that. However, I do think that Max was a little more musical in his interpretation. Both of them were just great. It would've been a VERY tough call. I don't envy the judges their job in this case!
