  • I like both versions!

  • My second favourite song ever.

  • Dylan wrote it .

  • this was in my gcse music exam!

  • @redsmarties1471 and mine dude, wasn't too bad a paper was it!!! :)

  • I like Dylan's version better. This one doesn't capture the surreal quality of the original.

  • @eja144 Same.

  • Notice that the channels are divided left and right =))

  • @mrteemumilto It's called "stereo"...

  • @slpplexi1969 No, it is 60's stereo. Musical professionals appreciate the difference to modern recordings.

  • who wrote this? them or bob dylan?

  • @eldeano1 Bob Dylan

  • I wish they had done the full version in the studio

  • 30 people need a buzzzzzzz.

  • Thanks for the good quality audio and content. Fond memories of hearing Mr Tambourine Man played at the Hog's Hollow skating rink in the 60's. All the best in the new year.

  • Quiet agree.. 60s, 70s 80s music ROCKED and still does. Thanx for the excellent quality uploads and sharing them. Hope your Christmas was a great one:)

  • That was real music that had a meaning and talked to the people of that time, unlike this rap crap we here today.

  • I still believe in this stuff.

  • it should be illegal to thumb up comments that respond to other comments

  • anybody who says that ALL music today is a close-minded idiot. The best pop band around today (in my opinion) is The Gorillaz....although Blur was better and may possibly have a comeback.

  • RIP Hunter S. Thompson :)

  • Hi guys, I would just like to wish everyone here a very happy Christmas. I would also like to thank everyone for all the veiws and subscriptions and making my channel what it is today. I never expected my channel to be this popular.

    Thanks a lot.

    Ritchie

    Long live real music

  • @mrtamberineman123 peace and love

  • @mrtamberineman123 A very happy Christmas to you & yours too. :))

Thank you for your time, taste in music & for sharing excellent quality uploads. :*

  • @mrtamberineman123 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh there gunna be a war and everyones gunna die

    aaaaaaaaah mmmmmmm cheeseburger

  • @mrtamberineman123 merry christmas to you too and thank you for the music richie

  • To all those commenting about how good heir childhood was growing up in the 60's, 70's and 80's, know that I envy you so much, but that the legacy of this great era has not been lost. There are some my age who appreciate real music and will carry this legacy for the rest of our lives. So i guess what i am saying that in light of the dreary age we live in, thank you for giving us something to live for :)

  • This is one of the greatest cover songs ever, and they only used one verse of the original song!

  • Great song by one of the 60's best bands.

  • Random lol

  • This song was recorded on January 20, 1965

  • the 60s speaks to me im 19 getting high as possible while i still can

  • Yes!

  • y u steel Bob Dylan's song >:O

  • love this version... original is great - except you have to hear dylan's voice

  • this version fucking sucks. i can't even begin to understand how people could even think this is good especially after hearing dylan's original. the real mr tambourine man is one of the best songs of all time

  • @myfanniejigglesaboot ...then why was this version a #1 hit? Had the Byrds never recorded this song, Dylan's original version wouldn't even be acknowledged today.

  • The wrost folk music ever made in the 20 century!!!

  • @countrydawn418 And the 'wrost' spelling mistake!

  • @countrydawn418

the WORST grammatical guy in the 20 century!

  • @GersonoetRiessen its poetry

  • @deserteacher

    yeaah, justinbieber poetry?

  • Although a 70's man..I heard this song in my late childhood and it has remained one of my fav memories of the FAB 60'S era!!!!

  • Those were the days...Lot of good memories back then:) Love this song..

  • Memory lane time......

  • One thing that irks me about the recording is the bass guitar being on the right channel, not the centre.

  • As a kid I heard this trackon BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) ran out to the local record shop not knowing who The Byrds were and subsequently came home with Bob Dylans original recording that initially took some getting used to :-)

  • I usualy love the folk music, but fuck i hate them.

  • always been a favorite band of mine

  • You'll never know how much I hated 60's music growing up as an 80's child. Love it now! This is special. And the Zombies.

  • @jfishfan

    yep, you nailed it!

  • @KiwiSentinel Mercurial is way too kind! Dylan is a poet.

  • Probably heard Dylan's first - uh, that's Jim's Rickenbacker not yet Roger at that point ;)

  • sucks balls mcguinn is a hack

  • @martinguitar22

    wow, that's objective?

  • This virsion by the Byrds had a different feel to it . What they would call back in the day "psycodelic music" Listen to the beginning of the song and the different electric guitar sound. Unlike today, this sound was transformed to fit the youth movement of the 60's. Bob Dylan changed also from accustic to electric and many were confused with this move from folk to rock. enjoy both

  • I know he was pissed.I heard that story.

  • @petermacmullin

This was NEVER in anything like the psychodelic genre of the time. This is folk-rock.

  • I don't know why people are hating on the Byrds. They're so awesome, I just discovered them like last week, but so far, awesomeness. And I like this version better than Bob's (just sayin').

    Peace ☮

  • I've never understood this song's success. Jangly guitars and drippy vocals, and most of the fine lyrics missing, played by a bunch of Beatles wannabes. It didn't help that it was played constantly on the radio in 66.

  • @EwolDJ O.K., it's clear you don't like the folk/rock genre. But this song's success can be attributed directly to Dylan. The Byrds were not Beatles wannabes. You're probably thinking of The Monkees. In fact, the Byrds, at least Jim a.k.a. Roger McGuin's playing was influencial in George Harrison's "If I Needed Someone".

  • @EwolDJ ...are you serious? this song is the foundation of the folk-rock genre.

  • The 60s had music that spoke to people, unlike the pop trash these days.

  • @evilunixuser1 You are so right!

  • @evilunixuser1 Profit motive behind music doesn't suffice to make the music carry appealing values.

  • 30 people's senses have been stripped.

  • This is the only version of a Dylan song that is (almost) better then the original.

  • Only heard first 10 sec of the song and stopped.... Bob Dylan way better just saying a opinion.

  • @xXxDeltronxXx ...you should listen to the rest of it, you might be pleasantly surprised

  • I swear I've watched this video 10 or 15 times. Never gets old.

  • Hey countrydawn418, Are you the same one I banged in prison. Heard you had got out and were sucking you know what at the occupy wall street pig sty. This is Omar.

  • W the Birds

  • I realy hate them.

  • @countrydawn418 Go fuck yourself!

  • I hate the Byrds!!!!!!!!!

  • @countrydawn418 GO EAT A DICK!

  • @countrydawn418 You suck then lol.

  • Love this song! <3

  • Better than the original...sorry Bob

  • @wreyoG I agree

  • @wreyoG I have to agree. I really can't stand listening to Dylan singing.Sorry to offend diehard Bob Dylan fans-I give the man bigtime props for his songwriting skills, they're huge and I understand why he's so revered-but his voice is,to me,like nails on a chalkboard.Perhaps that makes me superficial, but that's just the way I feel about it.

  • @wreyoG i know, right? :<

  • Wow! Thanks for posting. Man do we need a little 1960s RIGHT NOW!

  • William Shatner version is great!

  • Bob re-interpreted and even better.

  • I first heard this song as a 7-year-old lad when we were at Howard AFB, Canal Zone (Panama) circa 1965. It has been seated in a deep and rooted place in my heart ever since.

  • @yatescr how precious

  • I never actually realized this wasn't the original version of this song until today, this is the one that they seem to always play on the oldies station. Anyway, good old song.

  • PURE 60s! Always has been one of my ten favorites and always will be. It grabbed this little 6 year-old boy in May 1965 and it never let go. Thank you!

  • This is just fantasic. Just absolutely fucking fantastic. I'm ready to go anywhere.

  • gawd did I love this tune back in the day.

"Remastered" ? What sort of processing?

  • Simply lovely. Oh I wish i was alive when the radio played songs like these :)

  • Hippie days were Groovy days!!! Far out!!! :)

  • @OldSpiceRatherNice

  • You only can invent the wheel but one time.

  • another one of L.A.'s finest

  • wish songs today were just like these

  • I want folk music back.

  • this is really some groovy stuff...unforgettable...the bass at the end...yes those were great times indeed...thanks man. a grandma fan.

  • Like wow groovy man!

  • i picture mr. tambourine man as the person i would like to love.

  • I now know that others feel and felt what I felt nearly 2 decades ago, but they felt it 4 decades ago. It's a shame and I fear that with the current music, today's generation will not have what we have when it comes to memories and songs with meaning and feeling. Lady Goo Gee Ga Ga can only go so far. And the her lyrics can only touch a certain group in a certain phase.... I never knew the 60's, but listening to this song, I wish I had...

  • I'm learning about this song in my "intro to rock n roll" class in my local community college class. This song has touched me like only 5 or so ever have. And those 5 were in my influencial era of life, back in the mid 90's (I'm 37 now). I may not feel what the generation felt back in the mid 60's when this song was new, but now I really can empathize and know that someone else besides me felt the power of music to one's soul. Except mine was in the 90's, and not the 60's.

  • in the jingle jangle morning i'll come following u my love...xxx thanks fer postin, so quality! i'm a huge dylan fan as well but i think the byrds own this one! here, here!

  • haha people dont have the same tastes anymore, bands like this can't get big anymore with douche bags like beiber and weirdos like gaga running things...oh yea and wayne...pfff...music has lost its essence and beauty.

  • I'm a huge huge Dylan fan, but, I love this version, so so much. :) So good.

  • Wonderful.

  • 70s heavy metal is overrated but this genius is timeless the sound of fat tambourine combined with clanging gutair will always be my style in music

  • the best cover version ever.

  • bela musica de Dilan, e imortalizada por the byrds, amoooooooooooooooo

  • I like Dylan's version better but this on is fabulous.Roger's Rickenbacker sounds amazing.

  • @BobReidy roger MCGUINN [ and his pet 12 sttring named jim] said when he sang this he was trying to sound like a cross between dylan and dont worry baby by the beach boys [ better living through chemistry]

  • @spacepatrolman At that times Jim (Roger) was the second guitar of Judy Collins

  • @sean007019 Yes and he backed bobby darin

  • @spacepatrolman yes, but for me the best version og Tambourine was done by Melanie Safka, a diamond

  • @sean007019 I tried to get tickets to the phil ochs memorial concert with her but it was sold out then it was on tv a guy in my class in college was in it frank carillo he used to tell a lot of stories that he knew peter frampton we didnt know if he was making it up then his name starts popping up on his albums

  • Really.Thats cool.I didnt know that.

  • @BobReidy when dylan went electric [ folk rock ] at the newport folk festival pete seeger went in his car rolled up the windows and put his hand over his ears

  • @BobReidy Indeed...

  • This song has gotten me through soooo many strung out depressed mornings, its probably saved my life afew times

  • notKRD said, "This is nice pretty folk. As a 16 year old only just discovering this music, the Dylan version feels timeless, while this one can't escape the 60s."

How true! Plus the Byrds leave out the HYPNOTIZING last verse. Why! Time constraints, record producer's throwing their weight around, etc?

  • I loved this tune instantly when I first heard it when I was a boy, and it still amazes me when I hear it <3

  • Classic song! what memories this song brings back!

  • the kind of music that makes weed redundant for happy time

  • *****

  • I love this song!!! Beautiful!!!

  • I'm 15 and i listen to this song everyday. I think it's wonderful.

  • @samcaddy96 I was 15 (just turned 16 this week), but so do I. :)

  • Check out Stevie Wonders version of this song, I promise you'll love it.

  • I just wanna drop acid and frolic in San Francisco with this song playing.

  • This songs makes me feel happy and carefree as if I'm flying through the sky!

  • I don't see how a man playing a tambourine can "play a song"

  • @MickeyLove01 you stupid f*ck-it is sinnonim for a "Drug diler"

  • @TheDarthMarko you even more stupid fuck, it was a "JOKE", go and change your tampon

  • I was born in the right decade! I heard all this stuff every day. Dropped acid and banged hippy chicks who didn't shave their legs.

    so suck on that!

  • @farfenheimer lucky bastard >:/

  • @farfenheimer you bastard... you lucky bastard.

  • @farfenheimer jeez man, no need to use harsh words man!

  • @farfenheimer u can still drop acid nowadays and you dont have to fuck hairy bitches so fuck you

  • @farfenheimer your such a bad example for such a great generation lol give peace a chance man

  • @farfenheimer ..... I envy you. Though don't get me wrong, i'm down with everything 60's, i'd make those bitches shave.

  • I know it's blasphemy, but this is better than Dylan's original.

  • @icampos89 This is one of those rare songs that can be covered by talented performers and all versions will be classics.Dylan's original, the Byrds' cover as well as Judy Collins' cover are *all* timeless classics.

  • Damn, I know I'm gonna be panned for this, but this digital remastering has taken away so much of the warmth of the original. It's so clinical.

  • This is one of my favourite of all time recordings. But Dylan's was even better..

  • Dylan is a great songwriter but I find his actual performance as a singer to be too raw and basic for my taste. Usually I'd prefer the cover over his rendition. Tambourine man and all along the watchtower are good examples of solid lyrics that just need the right artist(s) to bring the songs to life.

  • @feroxcious you should check out (if you haven't) the movie I'm Not There and it's soundtrack.. it's full of Dylan songs covered by other artists

  • @CharlieKaufmanFan88 Thanks for the tip. Putting it on my to-watch list :)

  • This was a beautiful rendition of Bob Dylans number. The lyrics are pretty clear about LSD. But the main thing is that the Byrds managed to blend Folk music with Psychadelia so well at the mid '60's.

  • Hey, guys, don't forget that the original song is by the inimitable Bob Dylan. This is a great cover, but the original one is even more incredible.

  • Dylan Did the song better.

  • if youre whinig about they dont make good songs anymore.

ofcourse theydont, everyone is dead or too old.

    its up too us now.

times like that wont come themselves.

so instead of making comments on youtube and thumbing up, you should get an instrument and make it happen!

  • @EasyRiderRomar

The good old days werent good. The music was an escape attempt. These days and times are no less grinding, and the music of today is of this era, and befiting the era. I listen attentively , now , as i did in the past. lady gaga is no less an entertainer, than was patsy cline, or jimmy hendrix. Children are yesterday's sacrifice to the future. The last 20 years of your life you will be alone as a generation. Hope you have memories.to enjoy.

  • @radiowwww

ofcourse it was not good then, lots of racism etc etc.

but im just talking about the music

and some senteces of ur comment i dont understand ;p

  • @EasyRiderRomar Finally... Someone get it, if there's no good music you should make it yourself :)

  • @EasyRiderRomar they actually still do make good music you just have to look harder for it you lazy fucker

  • @mirelurk1

i know ofcourse there are good bands today which i listen alot too,

dont call me lazy fucker, dont go hating dude.

    peace out (:

  • @mirelurk1 Fuck you, prick! You have to be Sherlock Holmes to find any good tunes today and I'm in my 20s. The best music around today is practically unknown and so hard to come across. There is the occasional gem but it can't compete with even the great tunes of the 60s and 70s.

  • I have never heard greater guitar than McGunn's Rickenbacker on this classic..timeless masterpiece

  • @rainstormz28 yes, he had a unique technique for a banjo player on that 12 string Rick, but how about his solo on Eight Miles High?

  • Funny hows certain songs never age??

love it, and remember the time when music was this good.

  • Raise my glass to the 60's and the Byrds. A time and music not to be forgotten. Timeless - jingle jangle morning ...... thanks mrtamberineman123

  • This song knocked Help! off the No 1 spot in the uk in july 1965

  • hey there mr tambourine man play a song for me, i love it!

  • the greastest generation ever

  • great cover

  • hahaha we all know Bob Dylan is the best

    but I really like this!!!

  • This version is better but original Bob Dylan version is best..

  • <3 this :)

  • Am I the only person who likes Dylan's version more?

I really don't like the singing here; the guitar work and such is really quite nice, but the song really just works with Dylan more; he really does sound like a wandering poet.

  • @BeethovenVEVO Like all great songs different artists can do it well while still communicating something a bit (or even much) different.Although Dylan's performing style is an acquired taste (IMO,at least) he,as ususal, does a great, great job of "covering" his composition as did the Byrds with "Tamborine.Man" (and "My Back Pages").Another example is "In My Life"...check out Judy Collins' cover;amazing yet somehow unique.

  • 2.33 mins is NOT enough for this song.......

  • so awesome, like it better than dylan's version

  • I was born in the late 60s, but I totally dig you cats! Its a totally groovy scene man. Peace! Make love not war. Where have all the flowers gone? Maybe we should ask W.... Somehow he seems to be suspiciously involved in that. Long live all you 60s chicks and cats!
