But for me the ending doesn't really work unless he's entirely convinced beforehand of her flaws and is not just coming to a realization of them now. If the latter's the case, the conclusion rings hollow. JMHO ;-)
This is overwrought crap. He misses the entire sense of the poem - this sonnet isn't a pensive lament; it gets its impact precisely by being a non-sentimental - maybe even lighthearted - account of the speaker's love that takes her off the proverbial pedestal. I guess sometimes all you need is a British accent to convince people you know what you're doing when it comes to Shakespeare. :P
